I'm 5'5" and have been maintaining around 130 for over a year now. Before that I maintained around 138 for a long time. I'd like to be 125, but I'm struggling to get there.

Your numbers do seem a little low to me too. I'm 5'5" and 130 and maintain at 2200/day. Now, I tend to eat 1700 M-Th, and 3000 Fri/Sat with Sunday usually a wash, but it averages to 2200/day. I'm fairly lean at about 19% body fat (measured by bodpod) I also have a desk job, though I've managed to get a stand-up work…

What about a super small bulk? Like a total of 5 lbs in 5 months. Is that even worth it?

I've been recomping for a year and didn't really start seeing improvements until about 6 months in. At this point, I'm ready to bulk, at least a small one (~5 lbs in 5 months).

It's not really that hard, IMO. I'd personally avoid the non-wheat breads, pastas, etc. and just focus on appreciating simple foods. I was a bread loving, pasta loving, carb queen! I gave it up over a year ago for my own reasons and haven't looked back. I love the way I eat now and how it makes me feel. And honestly the…

Well, I'm 5'5" and 130 lbs and I maintain around 2100-2200 calories/day...

Agree that 1200 is way too low. I am a 38 year-old woman, 5'5" and 130 lbs (59kg), and have a desk job. I lose on 1700/day. I maintain on 2000-2200/day. I'm fairly active outside of work but still. I pretty much sit or stand around all day.

Target has a brand called "simply balanced". I prefer it to the others. I just buy plain and add my own ingredients. My fav combo right now is pb2 and vanilla protein powder. Tates like a vanilla wafer.

Flavored water (Love me those Mio type drops), or booze to be honest. I try to limit the booze to one drink on weeknights. Usually refrain the first couple days of the week. By Wednesday, I'm ready for a glass of wine. We won't even mention Friday or Saturday. :drinker:

Ha! I assume (hope) you're joking. OP, I just do my normal routine. Exercise relieves cramps for me. Sometimes I'm a little weaker, but I just drop my weight or don't push my aerial stuff. Can't help you on the food thing. I stay away from foods that tend to make me bloat normally, but I still can't avoid a little water…

Archer farms (Target brand) also has a pumpkin spice sugar free syrup. I personally prefer them to the Toani brand. I'm also not afraid of artificial sweeteners so that helps.

My son is now 18. I had him at 20 and gained 50 lbs. I still have loose skin on my lower abs where the stretchmarks are. It's pretty tight when standing, but it has never fully tightened and never will. It certainly isn't awful, but it is there.

Well, weight is mass times the acceleration of gravity. However it gets a little confusing when you compare kg to lbs. Pounds are a unit of force (mass x gravity), whereas kg is a unit of mass. Now, if people weighed themselves in Newtons, we'd be comparing apples to apples. I guess I weigh 569 (rounded) Newtons (had to…

Nuts may as well be potato chips or cookies for me. I can eat a ton. Especially cashews...

I get this one too. They compliment me on how fit I'm looking, I tell them what I do, they insist it won't work for them, that lifting heavy weights will just bulk them up.

It's the total number of calories you burn in a day. Includes functions just to keep you alive, as well all your other activity, including exercise.

Weights are your best bet for getting rid of the cellulite.

I'm 38, 5'5", and right around 130# (it fluctuates day to day). I maintain on 2100-2200 cal/day. I lift weights 3x/week, do some sort of aerial fitness 3-5 x/week and do other minor exercise a couple times a week--usually a walk or 30-45 min mountain bike ride or leisurely bike ride to the bar. :drinker:

I've been recomping for the past year. My weight has stayed the same (128-130#), but my muscle definition and body fat have changed. To the point people comment on how different I look even though I'm the same weight. Eat at maintenance, which for me is around 2000-2200 cal/day, and lift heavy. Be patient. I've taken my…

I love my spiralizer too! Zucchini noodles are the bomb!

I'm up to 150# for my low bar squats (3 sets of 5). I just started high bar, atg squats and can only do 115#, same sets. I'm 5'5" and 129#. My thighs haven't gotten bigger, just more shapely and defined. I've been doing to leg thing for 10 months now.

I need to drop 3-5 more lbs before I'm comfortable bulking. These last little buggers are a pain tho

I gained 6 lbs over the weekend. Have lost them in 2 days. Salt is usually the primary suspect. Salts and carbs did it to me.

I have a standing desk at work (as well as the option to sit). I haven't noticed more calorie burns or anything, but I definitely prefer standing to sitting. Supposedly a woman my size burns an extra 20 calories or so standing vs. sitting. I do think when I sat all day, I got up and walked more, which I'm sure makes a…

If you're concerned, have your metabolism tested. I had mine done. It was a simple test done by a dietitian.

I exercise every day to get stronger, work on my art and skills, and because I like it. I also need to eat about 2200 calories/day to maintain. That's on average. I aim for 1700 M-Th and Friday-Sat is more open season, so to speak. Eating at a slight deficit does seem to take a bit of a toll on my workouts, so I may revise…

I wonder if you can omit the breadcrumbs and sub in some egg to hold everything together. My guess is yes.

Great article. I love Marksdailyapple. The assumption seems to be that people going gluten free are just replacing normal pasta with gluten-free pasta. I suppose some are. My "pasta" is now made from zucchini, and it's yummy.

Okay, made this the other night. Amazeballs! The recipe I followed was a bit time consuming, but it turned out great. I will be making it again, especially with all the giant zucchini coming out of our garden right now.
