  • My primary goal is to be fit and healthy and to have the energy to do anything I want to do. The number on the scale or on my clothing just gives me a target for which to aim. I've never been in the supposedly healthy range for my height, so I want to try it and see what it's like. Maybe 145 will be just right for me (at…
  • It depends on what you are doing and your goals. You definitely do not need to be sore from cardio for it to be very effective. I do think it's best to be just a little sore from weight lifting the next day; otherwise I don't feel like I'm working effectively and actually building muscle. (If the muscles aren't challenged…
  • Way to go! Great job on hitting your goal early. I'm sure that no matter how far you get you'll feel great and have so much energy to enjoy your trip.
  • I'm right handed and pretty much always put on my left shoe first, especially if it's one that ties. (Put both shoes on then tie the left first...) Though I am a bit more toward ambidextrous than most right-handed people I know. I use my mouse left-handed at work and right-handed at home and am comfortable eating with a…
  • I like the elliptical, but it's definitely not my only source of cardio. I generally do 40 to 60 minutes on the elliptical 2 or 3 times a week. I also do running intervals on the treadmill, the rowing machine, and the step-mill. And I do weight training 2 to 3 days a week also. I think really mixing it up gives great…
  • I would love to get down to a size 10. I've never been that small in my adult life. I got down to a 12 once in college. I'm currently wearing 14s that are starting to get loose. So hopefully I'll see 12s this fall and 10s by early next year. Since I have about 20 to 25 pounds to lose, that should be an achievable goal.
  • My primary reason is that my Dad's family is full of alcoholics and addicts. And I know I have an addictive personality. So it's just not worth the risk to me. Now I have had issues with sugar, but have been working on them over the past couple of years. (There are some interesting studies out there on the links between…
  • I started off needing to lose right about 100 pounds. I could feel and start to see some subtle differences around 15 pounds and needed a smaller size of clothing by 30 pounds. To date I've lost 80 pounds, and now about every 10 pounds people really seem to notice the difference.
  • Thanks for the lovely encouragement. Today is the day I give up the fear and push through to conquer my next goal. I'm not going to let it hold me back for another week, another day. God will give me the strength to do this if I'll just accept it. Many blessings to you and yours today.:flowerforyou:
  • What a great reminder. Hope some wonderful blessings cross your path today.:flowerforyou:
  • Austin here, and yes, it's crazy hot. I do all my exercising inside these days. Definitely looking forward to the fall when I can enjoy getting out more. Seems like this summer has gone on forever.
  • Fan of facial hair on men here. It looks great on you. The fuller beard is definitely more flattering than the goatee. But if you're not sure, you can always shave it off then grow it back.
  • Hello. I'd love to have more MFP friends, and a twin would be awesome. Height: 5'5" Age: 38 SW: 246 (August 2009) CW: 166 GW: 145 I have a medium/large build with broad shoulders and hips. My goal is to be healthy and toned with a fair amount of muscle. My problem area where I still need to lose the most is the belly.
  • Wow, absolutely amazing results. Your commitment and dedication to your health really show. It's so amazing that you've made this transformation so quickly. Congratulation on improving your health and feeling better. :flowerforyou:
  • Hello. :) Back from vacation, and back to the gym today. 682 calories burned for Tuesday, 8/16. I didn't log while camping last week, but can work out approximate calories burned for each day if you can retroactively add any of them. Please let me know, and I can send a list if it's useful. Great to see the boat's still…
  • Got in my 9 glasses of water plus a few more. It's been a very busy day.
  • I thought our cat was the only one who did this. Lol. Munchkin loves to watch the swirling waters. She's a rather "special" kitty though. (She was born with a few birth defects and doesn't act or look quite like the other kitties.) One of our other cats, Zen, lays in the dining room when we eat dinner. He doesn't beg for…
  • Thanks for sharing the love and positive thoughts. Hope you are having and absolutely marvelous day as well.:flowerforyou:
  • Yay! Those are some great mental victories. You overcame the excuses and did what you know you needed to do. I bet you feel fantastic; you should.
  • I was looking over their website just the other day. Next on my list to try is the Espresso Frappuccino. It's only 190 calories for a grande. :) (I don't do artificial sweeteners, so no skinny syrups for me.) My weakness is their White Mocha. It's so good. But I almost never get it these days. My standard is a nonfat…

  • Good morning. I was wondering what today's inspirational message would say. When I was driving to work this morning Katy Perry's "Firework" came on the radio and made me think of your messages and how you make others feel. Hope you are having a fantastic day with the kids and managing to stay cool in this record heat.
  • Well, you do have to use a stove, but it's not really cooking. I sometimes make a bowl of steel cut oats. Add some berries and a glass of milk, and it's dinner. Other times I'll do a couple of poached eggs on a toasted whole wheat English muffin. Tuna salad sandwiches work well, but do take some time to prep. And for times…
  • Wow, fantastic job. It's so amazing that you are able to transform yourself while you are in school. You definitely deserve to step back and see how far you've come. Congratulations, and best wishes on the rest of your journey to better health and even more energy.
  • Wow! Thanks for sharing your amazing story. Conquering your fear is the hardest part. Now you can be the healthy, active, fantastic mom that you want to be. Wishing you all the best on your running endeavors.
  • Saturday, 7/30, rest day Sunday, 7/31 351 Monday, 8/1 654 Since the challenge is continuing on past July, I should let you know that I'll be going on vacation starting this Thursday (8/4) through a week Monday (8/15). I'll definitely be getting in some exercise since I'll be camping and doing a lot of walking. But I'm not…
  • Thanks for the great reminder this morning. Positive thinking has been a huge help in getting this far on my journey, but it's easy to get bogged down in the day-to-day cares and forget. Hope you are having an amazing and gorgeous day yourself.
  • Friday, 7/29, 728 calories burned
  • Congratulations! I am so happy for you. Those are some amazing result and an even better attitude.
  • Yay! So many milestones in one day. It's a fantastic Friday for you. :flowerforyou:
  • I'm also a fan of the Fage brand. I usually go for the 2%, but the 0% is ok too. I usually take 1/2 cup of yogurt and add 1/2 cup of berries and a bit of spice or extract (cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger; vanilla, almond, lemon). You can have a huge variety of flavors quite easily. I find the Chobani acceptable, but not as good.…
