  • All great suggestions -- thanks for posting!
  • I actually had a DEXA scan which measures fat and lean body mass, including bones. I set my goal based on that, which is actually around 7kg+ (around 20lb?) higher than the top of the recommended BMI for my height -- because I have a a very high muscle mass.
  • Me too.
  • Hi there! I am happy for you to add me too - I think the move to a healthy lifestyle will be just a bit easier as part of a community. We can do this! xx

  • My WHY is many things. I'm now in my 40s, as are many of my friends - the age where cancer, diabetes and heart attacks start to make an appearance. I don't want to suffer from any of these ailments, nor want to put my family through it either. Last week I did an online questionnaire for a government get healthy program,…
  • Hi there, I'm 42 and realised recently that I've been 'dieting' for around 26 years, with varying levels of success. That is insane, and I have gradually acknowledged that I need to make a lifestyle change and get as much support from this great community as I can, and give support wherever I can too. I am happy for anyone…
  • I too have found this post really useful and motivating. The need to be 'perfect' has been part of my previous 'all or nothing' approach, which has seen me give up countless times before. This time is going to be different - you've all made me think much harder about my 'WHY', and that is already making a difference to my…
  • Hi there. I too have decided it's time to become more active in the forums / community, so that I have some accountability. I've generally done it alone over the past few years and have fallen off the wagon when it's become a bit too much. I think ongoing support will make a difference. You can add me too
  • I hear you Fay -- I am pretty much the same -- serial yo-yo dieter, usually fall off the wagon after a few successful weeks. I'm pretty sure I've lost and regained the equivalent of my current body weight, probably at least twice over in the past 26 years. Finally seem to be able to get my head around the fact that I need…
  • Well done on your initial loss -- it is most likely water, but I find that a strong start like that always keeps me motivated! July 20 gives you 13 weeks -- that means just under a kilo a week (around 0.7kg). Certainly do-able if you stay committed. Good luck
  • Count me in! While my gut instinct is to go for broke to reach my ultimate goal in 90 days, I have a tendency to do an all or nothing approach -- this has not served me well in the past, therefore I'm going to go a little slower. So I am happy to aim for a minimum of 10% (i.e. 8.2kg, or 18 pounds) in 90 days. Could you…
