This is pretty much me as well. I use Atkins as a guideline.

I don't have a special way of preparing them but I recently had one using two large portabella mushrooms as a "bun." It was a bit hard to eat because it was really tall but otherwise tasty and filling.

Welcome!

I've been noticing this lately too.

Mine has mostly cleared up. When it flairs its easier to get back under control.

The mindset has to change first, and sometimes that can be an uphill battle. Unfortunately there is nothing to be done outside of a good example and gentle encouragement, especially if someone has accepted the inevitability of disease. I did see a little improvement in one of his relatives (T2D, thyroid, high blood…

I cut out all grains, except some flax/chia, to help control my T2D. My weight is all over the place, so I'm hoping its going down but going LC has helped in a lot of other areas. I have a sensitive stomach which leads to IBS and all the lovely issues that go with it. This is pretty much gone, along with most of the eczema…

Chicken tenders coated in coconut oil (the flavored kind), sprinkled with parmesan (the kind in the green container) and garlic powder, then wrapped in bacon and broiled. That's all I've got, lol. Someday I need to experiment more with bacon. The hubs and kids like the above.

Mine is open to friends, you can add me. :)

Too much of a good thing, according to SAD. Too many carbs, a lot were "healthy" and some were not. Not very much fat at all.
-
I had a small piece of sugary cake, everything else was low carb. I didn't count but I tried to make good choices. It helped that I did the cooking and was able to make low carb options.
-
Not doing so good today. Most of my carbs came from veggies though.
-
Happy Easter to you too!

I thought we were only tracking carbs. I didn't track foods without carbs but trust me I way more than 230.
-
Just closed out my diary with 33 gr of carbs and 230 some calories. Got the message about under eating.

I think that would be a good place to start, but don't worry about going over on fat at first, even if it makes you go over on calories. The fat will help make the transition a little easier and after awhile your body simply won't want as much to eat. Also, don't worry about cutting back too much on sodium at first. When…

Welcome! In some ways LC is very simple and in others there is a lot to learn. You should visit the Launch Pad for resources. LC is different for everyone but its usually <100 gr of carbs a day, moderate protein, and the rest of your diet will be filled in with fat. Some here do little to no carbs and some are slow carbs,…

Glad your husband is coming around! Heart disease is rampant in my husbands family, if you make it past 65 you're really doing something. High blood pressure scares me but he just thinks its normal. I don't think he will go LC but he is noticing that he feels better when eating certain foods and they TASTE better. He's…

Excellent news! Well done.

A lot of my husband's side of the family just expect to need meds for something later in life. They don't do anything to change it and they end up carrying around shopping bags full of meds. I mentioned to my husband one day (nicely) that we both need to really take care of our diets better. His response was "I don't have…

Just LOL'd and the people in the hall outside my office are looking at me. Great job on the blood work, though.

What do you do right before bed?

I've been doing this off and on as well and I notice that my calories are staying between 1500-1800. A few months ago, before I jumped into LCHF full time, that would have been pure misery. Now its happening without trying. We're considering buying half a cow and possibly a few pigs from a local-ish farm. We've been…

Wow, this is very moving and spot on. This should be a sticky. They all hit close to home, but number 3 the most. I had a relative die slowly and painfully from diabetes but not before she had to give up every single thing that gave her quality of life. Her mother had to remove her from life support. Its not to be trifled…

Yay! Awesome article. I'm printing that out and putting it on my fridge. I think I'll also take it with me to the doc's later this year.

I'm diabetic and have been for about ten years. Going by what I've read here I think I was IR before that. There are quite a few here with insulin related issues so you'll be in good company!
-
I didn't say what my carbs are. I'll try to keep the total below 50. I've been averaging about 75, though its more like 35-40 net. Edited to say today was a fail, lol, due to an issue with an avocado yesterday which caused me to eat flax meal cereal for breakfast. Back on the wagon, though.

:) That's too funny!

I have a pretty gold and white one but I'm in the US, it was my aunts and is at least 30 years old. I never use it because I never make them. My SIL usually brings the deviled eggs in a plastic tray thing so they must still make them.
