  • I have the Apple Watch as well as the polar HRM with chest strap. I use both when I run or Crossfit but I never know if the recorded calories are taken from the Polar HRM or the watch. I wholeheartedly trust my HRM so I'd like to compare the 2 for accuracy. Has anyone else had this situation?
  • Great information here everyone, I'm going to try some of these as well. Do any of you get bloated with your protein? I just started using a whey protein with the BCAA's but I find that I get really bloated several hours after I drink it. Not sure if it was my protein or some of the other supplements I'm taking.
  • I'm thinking about it!!!!!
  • I normally wear long tanks from WalMart. They're fitted and long enough so they don't move much, even with HSPU's and pull-ups, etc. As far as bottoms, I use shorts that are long enough where I won't show anything while I'm squatting or whatever, and tights or leggings from wherever as long as they fit. LOL. I normally get…
  • I created a "CrossFit" exercise, and I have a Polar FT4 that I wear. My burns vary from a few hundred to over 700, depending on the level of *kitten* kicking. LOL! I don't log my food anymore, but continue to log my burns. I like to look back and see my progress throughout my history.
  • bump!
  • I have a Polar FT4 that I bought before I started CrossFit, and it works great. Just make sure you have the band very securely fastened around your ribcage. It bothers me a tad but when I'm doing burpees, but find that the tighter I fasten the strap, the less it bothers me. It's awesome and extremely accurate.
  • I've been CrossFitting for about 7 months. I was also worried about getting bulky and looking a bit manly. It really depends on what gym, or box, you go to. Mine offered a free week trial, then had a groupon so I figured worse case scenario I spent $25 to give in to curiosity. I absolutely love it. I am not bulky, neither…
  • The same happened to me when I started C25K a few years ago. It was my shoes! My pain was so horrible I'd have to lay off from running for a week or two. I went to a specialty store, got fitted, and have not felt pain since, and I'm running a half marathon next week! They're a bit expensive but totally worth it if you want…
  • I have a love/hate relationship with box jumps. I agree with GeekyGirlLyn. It's mostly mental. Keep doing the height you're doing now until you feel confident. Try the 24" every now and then. You know your body. Listen to it, and before you know it you'll clear the 24" no problem. I was the exact same way. I was too scared…
  • Mine is almost gone. Exercise, water, and diet. Eat healthy and it'll be gone in no time!!! I've had 2 c-sections and one other stomach surgery. It's possible!!
  • I started with at home wokouts. I would entertain the kids while I did Insanity, or they would join me and try to work out too. Hubby works late at times, but when he was home he'd entertain them for me. Once exercise became a part of my daily routine, my husband and kids knew when it was mommy's time to exercise. I would…
  • Correct. As long as you still have your HRM counting your calories and going, it doesn't matter if you are physically stopped or going full *kitten*. I tend to keep it going until my heart rate goes under my range, which is sometimes after I get home from the gym. Buy it, you'll love it!!!
  • I haven't done an actual kettlebell class, but I've done kettlebell swings as part of CrossFit. I love them. It was different, but somehow the shape of the actual bell and its handle made "handling" it much easier for me. Stick with it!!!
  • I'm trying to run between 3 - 4 days a week, and I cross-train the other days. At one point I was running 5 days a week though.
  • I agree with everyone, I started with Couch to 5 K in November, ran my first 5K in February and now I'm doing Bridge to 10K. At first it was a chore to get out there and run 3 times a week, but now it's my therapy. Just last night my husband was kicking me out of the house, telling me I was like the Snickers commercial…
  • Hi! I've had 2 C-sections, and have tried some not-so-healthy means of losing weight, so I had TONS of loose skin, plus my remaining pooch. I can tell you that my loose skin (not to be gross, but the part that hangs), has dramatically decreased in the last 3 - 4 months or so. I've done Insanity and P90X, elliptical work,…
  • I had to re-do Week 7 because I couldn't complete the full 25 min. So, I did W7D1 on Sunday and was able to do the full 25! Then I did W7D2 on Tues and pushed myself to run 30 min!! I felt great! Granted, I was running REALLY slow, but I did the full 30! Here is where I made a mistake--I ran yesterday too instead of…
  • I"m also from El Paso and it's VERY hard to eat healthy here! We've got lots of great Mexican food, but it's doable! I normally only eat out on weekends and when I do I make sure and try to eat as healthy as I can. Sometimes I do indulge, but it is very rare.
  • I agree with everything everyone has mentioned. I have never been a runner - in fact I hated running. Then I started C25K. Now I really LOVE it!! I was about to start Week 4 when I tweaked my ankle so I'm going to have to start Week 3 again. However, please get fitted for running shoes. I think that's why I hurt myself.…
  • I'm starting Week 4 myself! However, I'm dealing with some ankle issues so I'm not too sure when I'll be able to get out there again, but I'm just as apprehensive as you!
  • Yes. I just take it day by day.
  • Yep, in El Paso. And you're right, it's pretty much considered Mexico! LOL I'll have to add your brother!!
  • El Paso here! Yes, I know, it's more like New Mexico instead of Tx but I'm here and I'm proud darnit!!!
  • West Tx girl here. CoachsWife - where exactly are you? lol
  • Yes, Jillian Michaels! I just read that it's available for Pre-order along with one of her videos, and it'll ship in early December. I was thinking of getting a Polar watch type HRM (like you, I would like one I can wear all day as a watch), but now I may decide on the BodyMedia by Jillian Michaels!
  • You look fabulous!!! Keep going girl, you'll reach your goal in no time!!!
