1 Find a gym 1-2km away. 2 walk there and back. don't go in 3 eat less calories 4 when the walking is easy, find another gym further away

Just have a deficit. The only issue for me is that if I for example have a big lunch and then dinner at say 6, I have 5-6 hrs fasting before bed, so I am more tempted to snack, then I put on weight. So personally a small lunch and a big late dinner suits me best The image Esther posted sums it up right.. You have been…

@jessicakrall8 that is an impressively big drop in weight. Well done. However are you sure you are doing 3500 steps? that sounds very low. I use garmin watch that tracks steps and if I do virtually NOTHING all day I get close to 5000

Thanks for talking the time to reply. I still have no idea how much weight to start with. And also the suggested progamme is completely incomprehensible to me (ref my comment above about sites assuming people who understand the basics. Take this as an example OHP 3x5 Flies 3x10 Pullups 3x8 Pendlay Rows 3x8 Face Pulls…

what is wrong with plain food?

try NOT cheating. Tends to work better

Swimming in indoor pools is not cold. Leisure pools are about 28 degrees which feels cold for about 3 seconds, and in fact is too warm for serious swimmers. Other option is road bike on a turbo trainer. I can burn close to 1000 cals in an hour on mine/... see this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9eSvdacQa0k

Go to a running shop and get properly fitted for shoes that suit your running style
-
It is excellent and I recommend to anyone trying to get fitter and burn some calories. I started it almost 10 years ago and have now done three Ironmans. And I am no lightweight. Listen to your body and get treatment for any injury

Do little and often....
-
I do tons of cycling, but my advice to new people is to do little and often. Will avoid you hurting your *kitten*! Build up slowly
-
very true. And move to flat front trousers, none of those pleats
-
Agreed. I get peckish after a long bike ride (say 2 hrs +) but not running. To be honest I aim to average 1000 cals a day of exercise ( a lot but I have been doing this for several years. I just aim for a daily target of 1850 ( I weigh 88kg) and then eat back about half the calories of the exercise.

That BMR sounds medically unlikely. See a doctor
-
well done. But clear something up for me. is there really a job as pro videogamer? Hard to imagine
-
agreed with the reply above. if for short and rare runs, fine. if not, then get to a decent running shop, who will analyse your running style for free and sell you the right shoes
-
real live running? Real live cycling. Swimming?
-
that all looks excellent. I was not impressed with the ones that needed screwing an unscrewing to change the weights.!

Make sure none of your friends are of the type who will say "come one, one won't harm you....."

I eat back half the calories of exercise. This Sunday for example I am doing a 3 hr ride. MFP says for moderate ride (19-23kmh) it is 2100 and for vigorous (23-26mmh) is 2600 cals. So I would add half of that (maybe average them as I do 23kmh per hour typically) so I would have the 1650 base amount PLUS 1200 from the…

over the years I have go in the habit of doing a lot of exercise. I had to find things I like though so no gym work! I have been lucky to work from home, but now have 2-4 days working in London which is a 4 hr train trip return. I have had to work hard to slip in a 10k run across London tot he station, with clothes…

years ago yes, and I have been tons of cycling for years. Do little and often training. 5-6 days a week if you can with one long ride per week you have a few mths week 1 5 miles x 5 week 2 7 miles x 5 week 3 9 miles x 5 week 4 5/10/5/10/5 week 5 8+12++8+12+8 week 6 15+8+20 week 7 15+10+25 then build from there. in later…

Thanks. I got it working at last. MFP is wonderful in many ways, and totally free, but this complicated process is very 1985 in terms of having to do such fiddly stuff
-
thanks. Will look at the weights. Austria was because it is a great location and race. We live in the UK. I also did Switzerland last year and a few half ironmans too. Mallorca again in May for a stag weekend

The hard days for me are the ones I do no exercise, because I then get what feels like too little to eat! Days of massive exercise are very familiar for me so I do not feel a need to have massive food to compensate
