When ting to lose belly fat at night?

I know they say eating late at night is bad for the belly if trying to lose stomach fat. But what if you have a job where you get out at night and then workout late at night and your goal is to lose belly fat? Should you eat nothing or what? Also some nights I just do cardio and abs, what should I do then? And others I do cardio, abs, and strength training. What about then? I know they say not to eat late at night if losing stomach fat is your goal but I also heard it’s bad to not have protein after a workout of strength training or even cardio. Lost?

Oops ignore my error. I meant when “to” not “ting”1

The only way you will lose belly fat is a caloric deficit. And it will most likely be the LAST PLACE you will lose fat from.
Doesn't matter what time of the day you eat - night, morning, whatever, you can eat a full meal at midnight if you want.
Doing abs exercises also won't burn targetted fat. They will, however, increase the strength and size of your abdominal muscles.
Cardio is good for overall health and to help you stay in a caloric deficit. Again, it won't burn your belly fat.
So, don't believe all the stuff you read on IG from fitness model people, 98% of them are just trying to sell you the latest "detox cleanse" and those exercise bands to make your "booty" grow.
Eat less food and hey presto, eventually your belly will get smaller.
Good luck!13 -
Oh and the rest of that about protein etc - again all just rubbish (unless you are a physique bodybuilder type athlete person, but generally still rubbish) - you need to hit your overall protein goals for the day - whatever that may be. Don't need to chug protein shakes 20 minutes after you work out. That's just old-skool bro thinking.3

Hey thanks0

You will find "they say" a lot of things about weight loss. That you need to do this or that specific thing. Most of it is rubbish. The number 1,2 and 3 most important thing you need to do is eat at a calorie deficit. The rest is just noise.4

Only thing I would add, is get in enough sleep. It doesn't matter how late you go to bed, just get in those eight hours.2

Oh and wait? What about laying down right after you eat a meal? Like even if it’s just chicken breast and broccoli? Would it be bad to lay down right after I ate even that? Will it still not interfere with my losing belly fat goals?4

Why would it? Your body digests food whatever position you're lying in. As far as losing belly fat:
(I know belly isn't on the list, but it's no exception!)

If it would interfere with your digestion it would be bad. If not, not. I don't know who "they" are but is seems like you are getting a lot of your information from hearsay. Pretty much none of what "they" have said to you is accurate. The only thing that really matters for losing fat is total energy in< total energy out. The rest is just noise.
ETA: Just realized MikePTY said the same thing about the noise. Great minds...3 -
I have a meal immediately prior to bed (well, I floss/brush/mouthwash, but you know what I mean) every night (or morning, when I'm on night shift). It doesn't prevent me from losing weight when I'm in a deficit.2

Who are "they"?
Where are you hearing these things OP?
I'd be genuinely interested to know where these ideas come from.0 -

You really do need to vet your sources better and read them with a cynical eye.
Are they trying to sell something? (A product or a new routine or services or just YouTube clicks.)
Does your common sense actually conflict with what you are hearing?
Can you verify what you hear using a better and more scientific source?
Is there any reputable evidence being used to back up the claims you hear?
Does the person saying these things actually have any relevant credentials or subject knowledge?
(As an example a fitness instructor is just that, they are not dieticians. Just as you wouldn't assume a dietician would be able to set up a gym routine don't assume a fitness instructor knows anything about diet - it's not part of their training.)

Just have a deficit. The only issue for me is that if I for example have a big lunch and then dinner at say 6, I have 5-6 hrs fasting before bed, so I am more tempted to snack, then I put on weight. So personally a small lunch and a big late dinner suits me best
The image Esther posted sums it up right.. You have been reading those ads "the one weird trick to lose belly fat"!0 -

the only bad thing i've experienced with eating right before bed is heartburn, depending on what i've eaten. but it hasn't had any affect (effect?) on my weight loss at all.1
