  • Lol...that was one article out of many located in the DATABASE. Sorry I didn't cite it in MLA format. I find it interesting that so many of you feel you know better than what is published and reviewed and that everyone should believe you over other sources. And that you insist on pointing it out. Is any journal or article…
  • Yes...which I corrected. Thanks.
  • Yes, thank you for the correction it is indeed a database. Lol...but it's a lot more academic than ...what did someone call it? bro-science?? Haha. It actually came from a journal called Positive Health.
  • It does indeed affect how your body loses weight. Check out a legit medical journal, such as CINAHL and research how it works. Here is an excerpt from a peer reviewed science journal: "Most of leptin's effects occur through the hypothalamus, the part of the brain that integrates all basic drives and regulates food intake,…
  • As someone who is similar (a bit shorter and heavier tho!) to your stats, you need to eat more. You calories likely need to be closer to 2000 a day. There are some great calculators from which you can get this information. I can never find the link, but there is a great article here on the message boards called In Place of…
  • Single mom of two here. It's a challenge to take care of the kids/family, work AND get in our daily exercise and proper nutrition! Welcome and good luck! I love seeing others in similar circumstances succeed, it is such a great motivator for me :)
  • Hello! I also have a lot to lose, but have found I stay much more motivated when I set small goals for myself to add up to a larger goal. My small goals are 5 lbs, and at 30 lbs I will reevaluate. It's much more fun to see every pound I lose rather than how much I have left to go. (My ideal body weight is 180 and not the…

  • Good luck Sarabeth! You can do it!
  • Good luck JC! You have done it before, you surely can do it again! Friends are great for motivation and accountability, so feel free to add me :)
  • I have nothing useful to add to this...but this made me laugh. Day=made.
  • Hi Ken! Welcome :) We all have our daily struggles, carbs were mine but I don't crave them so much now. You will find that if you continually drink water or tea you will not want the soda so much. It's as much of a habit as anything else and you can certainly break it! Good luck! If you need encouragement, please feel free…
  • I have lost my way several times...it is so easy to let kids be an excuse not to be healthy when they should be the reason to be. I'm a single mom of two that works and goes to school, and sometimes it would just be easier to let it go. But, we all know how that goes :) Feel free to add me if you would like, that goes for…
  • Thanks all! I try to avoid Pinterest because it is a black hole...it may take hours to find my way out of it! However, in the name of healthier eating I will check them all out
  • Thanks!
  • Mine was really high too :) It's likely pretty accurate, it just is hard to believe that what we used to eat would add up so quickly when the truly healthy options make it hard to reach that number!
  • Thanks :)
