So I am 244 lbs, 5"7, 29 year old, female. My coach gave me the P90X Phase 1 Plan 2, she wants me to eat 2,400 calories a day. She came up with that number by taking my weight and times 10, then 2440 times 20 %, then 2440+288+300= 2400. Does that sound right? I would be eating alot of protein, and veggies, I'm light active daily, but have started an exercise plan of five times a week.

I don't know much about all this but that just sounds like a huge number. Will I still lose?

You'll be just fine. I calculated your numbers with an online calculator and came up with 2300 calories for weight loss while working out 5 times a week, so just about the same number.

Just to maintain your current weight using that exercise plan, you have to eat 2900 calories, and a 500 calorie deficit is what is usually recommended. You are right in that range.

I did the same thing and came up with 2343 for weight loss.
  • Mine was really high too :) It's likely pretty accurate, it just is hard to believe that what we used to eat would add up so quickly when the truly healthy options make it hard to reach that number!
