Thank you! I'm slow to get the groove of this thread, but happy laboring :-)

Hi Lana, I live in West Michigan. And thank you!

Hey all this is exactly what I need, too.

Hi all, I'm definitely a serial starter, but to be fair to myself, several of the slow starts have come after illnesses, injuries, etc. I had a little rainbow baby 14 mos ago and I was doing great, until I tore something in my abdomen doing farmy things. I'm hoping I'm mad and focused enough to get to a healthy size,…

Be picky about boys. Very picky. Otherwise keep being your weird self...it paid off. :-)

Insidious...that was the turning point in a friendship when one of my girlfriends got permanently grounded from ever picking the movie again. Ender's game and the last Indiana Jones flick made me pissed off at Harrison Ford. The Hours....tick on and on and on... Let's be Cops and Ridealong are unforgivable.

Whatever you do find that works for you, I'd definitely buy more than 1 pair after you've put some miles in them to make sure they fit. Models are constantly being discontinued. I have horrible feet and my favorite pair of Nikes are no longer made or sold anywhere (ebay included). Stock up!

Makes me think of that scene in X-Men 1st Class when Mystique is bench pressing in her human form before Eric (Magneto) calls her out for putting half her effort into concentrating on looking good instead of all her effort on training.

Don't try to be too logistical/analytical in the beginning if it feels like too much too soon. Start with trying to lose a half pound a week and just add in more activity (I do a lot of caffeinated cleaning and I speed walk through the grocery store using ridiculously indirect routes for multi-tasking efforts). I find that…

Evenin' y'all. I'm a transplant from Texas. I moved to the sticks outside Muskegon a year and a half ago and I love it here. They have these magical things here in Michigan called seasons! It's awesome! I'm lookin' for friends and workout partners if anyone is interested. Even if its just hiking the trails in the area.

This is actually my second real go 'round on MFP. I lost about 40 lbs the first time in 2010-2011 before I discovered I had stage III thyroid cancer. I had been diagnosed hypo before then but between the right dosage (which in itself takes some time for a lot of folks) and lots of cardio and eating right I shed my weight…

natrob1---not sure if that was for me, but if it was, I'm peachy. and fluffy. :O)

This is my second round on MFP. The first time I lost a total of about 50 lbs and I was glued to the scale. I ran, lifted weights, biked, and did all the right stuff, but I developed a really unhealthy relationship with the numbers assigned to me. The other biggee was how many days in a row I logged in. I found out I had…

So this is my second stint on MFP. I was doing beautifully earlier this year until I had one of those dreaded "Trouble007 has logged in for 7 days in a row!" when I had been on it for months. That honestly did me in. I managed to keep logging in even when I had my cancer surgery this past spring but one stupid day when I…

I see a lot of good advice on here. I am far from my goal, but years ago after recovering from an injury that put me off my feet for 19 months (and threatened to end my career in the Marine Corps) I discovered a few tricks that I am now applying to my less disciplined, much larger, much busier self. 1. small goals are key.…
