  • ^kinda got my comment out of order there...but you know what I mean :blushing:
  • I am a nursing student and fully plan on reading while on the treadmill, bikes, etc. and have done it before as well as seen many many people doing the same thing (at least at the gym on campus-it's the norm) I HAVE to cram study time in whenever I can. I also read while at the doc office with my kids, at the park, even…
  • OMG I would die. And I just puked a little.
  • UGH! I feel ya! I'm working on my BSN and I've gained more weight in the year I've been in the nursing program than the other two years of college (or ever for that matter). I know it's because of the late night study sessions fueled by junk food and the lack of exercise. This summer I made my mind up to change! I will…
  • I don't want to be a downer, and I could be completely wrong..but I looked at several different height/weight charts and even with a large bone structure it looks like a healthy weight for your height is in the 150's max. I'm 5'11'' and overweight for me begins around 180 I believe..so being 7 inches shorter I would think…
  • It's amazing the things the FDA allows to be in food. There's a certain number of coliforms (bacteria found in *kitten*-so essentially..*kitten*) allowed in milk, meats, and other foods. I tested hotdogs, hamburger and milk (all bought at our local grocery store) and found all three were over the allowable amounts of…
  • I think the other person might be partially right...I hear runners get better at running, so it's less effort for them to run than it is for me (it's friggin torture and I feel like I'm dying). But, I don't think the instructor is burning significantly less calories, but I would think the body would adapt to the same…
  • Me either...and after seeing that pic of the guy looking like he has a sweater on I'm thankful. That would be an awkward moment..."I've suddenly got to leave NOW.." My hubs has very little hair and I couldn't be happier. Never realized I needed to be thankful for that until this thread. No offense to hairy guys...clearly…
  • The extra calories burnt from exercise are there for me if I need them but I definitely don't make a habit of working out *just* so I can eat more. I plan on a 1200 calorie day, then if I get any exercise in I might have extra portions or an extra snack but I definitely never eat them ALL back...I believe MFP overestimates…
  • I have only counted it a few times...when we were cleaning and putting up the kids pool I counted half of the time I spent as vigorous cleaning (only half because I thought the numbers were WAY inflated) and another time when I helped clean out the rabbit cages and digging through stuff in storage I also counted half (and…
  • I'd say see how the calorie upping works with your body..but it sure doesn't seem like too much. About the munchies..pick some healthier or lower calorie options, 100 cal/bag popcorn vs the several hundred calorie kind...fruits instead of candy bars, low fat ice cream instead of regular, etc....Also you could eat leaner…
  • You need to change your mentality. I used to HATE working out, and still don't LOVE it but I like it enough to do it almost daily. The reason is because I know exercise is the only way (other than eating right) to change my body. When you dislike the shape you're in more than you dislike walking or biking, then you'll…
  • As mentioned several times by other nurses..I would LOVE to stick her! I wanted to say that last night when I saw this but decided not to because I thought it sounded a little creepy LOL...But as a 3rd semester nursing student new to starting iv's, when I walk in a PT's room and see anything close to this I relax…
  • My comment above is totally not saying that an overweight nurse or doctor is less qualified or not as good at their job than the thinner version! I know several doctors, nurses, and aids that are overweight and wonderful. Weight doesn't determine if you're good at your job! I do think that it makes it difficult to talk to…
  • I am a nursing student and think my health and overall appearance should be an example of how my patients should be. I know it will be hard for me to talk to someone about the benefits of weight loss and healthy eating if I'm at an unhealthy weight. I used to be a smoker, and working with patients with COPD and CHF telling…
  • I start out all perky and happy with her, but half way through I'm cussing her out screaming with what breath I have left for her to seriously shut it. LOL...She's motivating though and usually *right* when I feel like quitting she'll spout off something like *I know you want to give up but don't* and it ticks me off…
  • I'm a bit of both...I just ate 6 hershey caramel kisses...and was wonderfully fine after...but put brownies in front of me and I just might try to eat them all...There's definitely things I can not just eat a bit of, so it is easier for me (at the moment) to just do without. Although, I did make amazing cheesecake…
  • I log every single thing. Every. thing. Even the ketchup and mayo...even the 1/3 of a tomato that adds up to like 6 calories...because at the end of the day it all adds up.
  • I don't see how looking at my diary will help anyone. I can be more honest with myself without fear of judgment. some days I barely what enough to keep a toddler alive and others I'm sure I could win an eating contest...a few reasons why mine is private
  • IN..because I need new snack ideas :)
  • Turning 29 in 4 days! This will be my last birthday..as I'm staying 29 forever ;)
  • O.M.G. That song is insane!! LMAO!
  • Zero or negative calories?! The fruit I'm eating is not zero calories (banana around 100, white seedless grapes 200/100g, granny smith apple 80) and I've never heard of negative calories!! What fruits or other foods are negative calories?! How is that even possible?!
  • My aunt has had 2 or 3 types of these surgeries (not sure of the exact types but the first one was probably 15 or more years ago)...and needless to say she's larger than she's ever been. There's no quick fix for losing weight. There's just not. AND you have to WANT to be healthier and have to truly hate being the size you…
  • 5'11'' and currently 171 and wear US Jr 11-13...and wore that when I was anywhere from 165-185. I wear a med/lg top (that darn pear shape)...when I'm 140ish I wear anywhere from 5-9 (longs and extra longs of course)...I can't wear women's sizes, the cut is way off for me...Jr's only.
  • I'm 5'11'' and currently 171 :( Low weight 125-130 (somewhere in there, not for sure) high weight (UNpregnant weight) 185...look best at 135-140ish but wanna have more muscle this time so I'm aiming for 140-145.
  • Sarah lee has a 45 calorie per slice bread...really good tasting and good for you. No need to cut bread completely out though!!
