  • Well well well. It was just suggested to me that I try Alli and so I found this thread. nope nope NOPE. I can't believe it is still being recommended by medical professionals.
  • i've tried the ON 100% natural whey and tera whey organic. the tera whey was very thin and gross, even mixed with almond milk. the ON did not bake very well. ideally i would like a blend of whey, casein, and egg white protein sweetened with stevia that mixes thick and bakes OK. i know, i'm asking for the world.
  • i wish MFP had a "like" button!
  • YES, THIS!!!! forget about it and move on. one meal at a time. do not punish yourself with cardio. read what my coach says about guilt cardio here: http://leanbodiesconsulting.com/frequently-asked-questions/I+binged%2C+deviated%2C+or+had+an+unplanned+cheat--should+I+do+more+cardio+to+make+up+for+it%3F+Skip+my+next+meal%3F

  • i personally stay very far away from hormonal birth control pills. i was on them for a long time, and switched brands here and there as side affects arose. the last straw was Yaz. i had weight gain, ridiculous mood swings, and very VERY high blood pressure. my bp had always been perfect (i was 35 at the time). it shot up…
  • +1! yes weight training is my primary exercise. if you are going to do cardio to burn fat, intervals are the way to go though! it continues to burn calories long after you've stopped. the key though, is you really have to go ALL OUT in the sprint interval. a good place to start is 30 sec sprint 90 sec recovery. good luck!
  • i work too much to be able to do a class every day, it just doesn't fit in to my schedule, but i do try to go at least 3 times a week and when i'm really being good i go 5 times a week. yay for you!
  • guys, i think yesterday might have been a wash. i had to go on-site to a client location for work, and lunch was an option of either chinese food across the street or a place that served filled baked potatoes a block down. we opted for the chinese, and even though i thought i was being good, i know it was not even close to…
  • absolutely! and here i am on cheat day, having a morning protein shake, and wondering if i should cheat at all. week 2 has me up 4 pounds and and an inch from last cheat day morning. meaning, i never lost the cheat weight completely. perhaps i should just have a cheat dinner?
  • saddest thing i've read all day: "Beer just does not simply fit into the slow-carb diet anywhere because maltose in beer metabolizes faster than table sugar and sometimes faster than glucose itself. If you can imagine yourself eating 2 or 3 Krispy Kreme donuts every time you have a bottle of beer, that's roughly the impact…
  • @mcferg, i am right there with you. i could drink beer all day long. it's perfect on a saturday when the sun is out and you've been out working in the garden or around the house. yeah, i would never drink wine in the garden! wine def seems ot be a "food pairing" sort of beverage. @sbracken, ok, i feel better about all…
  • hm, so it sounds like i should tone down the cheat day a bunch and drink massive amounts of water? i had eggs benedict, a mimosa, some beer, and a bunch of tapas food for dinner that included things like deviled eggs, mini grilled cheeses, a slider, and a little steak. tallying it up, the booze brought it almost to 3000…
  • @stephanie, i can totally relate to you. eating has always been my therapy, and it think its that way for a lot of people, otherwise there wouldn't be so many meals deemed as "comfort food". recognizing behavior is the first step to changing it though! @mcferg, agreed on the notion that ferriss is rich narcissist that…
  • going out to dinner with a friend tonight. cheat day is not until tomorrow. i'll be ok if i just have meat and vegs, right? you don't HAVE to have legumes at every meal? not sure where we are going will have beans! happy cheat day saturday people! oh man am i looking forward to beer!
  • hm, i think i also read somewhere that full fat cream is ok in coffee as it has less lactose? will have to look that up for you. i'm switching to black for now. i figure if i am super strict the first week and have good results, i can add things back in later to see if they have an effect.
  • hey mcferg - i read in a ferriss blog post that his editor missed that correction, it was supposed to say a TEASPOON. http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog/2011/01/21/housecleaning-and-clarifications-blog-content-4hb-corrections-competition-winners-slow-carb-mistakes-and-more/
  • ok, so i don't know if this is normal, but i started the diet on monday, and i'm down 7.2 lbs, and inch and a quarter on the waist, and a half inch on the hips! holy mackerel! before scd, i've been counting calories and exercising, eating back half my cals, and totally plateaued for 3 weeks. my diet already consisted of…
  • ok, on that greens note, has anyone tried the PAGG stack ferris recommends? i don't really want to shell out almost 100 bucks on supplements. unless they work, that is. ;) thanks!
  • i'm confused. how are you eating sandwiches if there is no bread allowed on this plan?
  • just got the book today. so, bump!
  • bumpity, book on the way.
  • thanks! i was wondering where to find stuff i'd been interested in! so...ba-bump!
  • thanks! it looks like i need to eat more oatmeal, quinoa, beans, and fruit!
  • hi amanda- i am doing 90 minutes of bikram yoga (which is said to burn 1100 cals) 5 times per week. http://www.hotyogadoctor.com/index.php/site/forum/viewthread/5/ i am also doing the workouts found on http://www.bodyrock.tv/ during my lunch breaks, which i calculate to be around 200 - 300 cals per workout.
  • yes, hence my problem. i eat all organic meats, fruits, and vegetables and no processed anything. haha fish sticks made me laugh!
  • "There is very strong evidence that this abundant load of processed and refined carbs is killing us. And, it's not coming from people writing books on Paleo. " That, right there, is the most important part, regardless of weight loss benefits.
  • hey ladyhawk, that very last link you posted seems to be the most helpful to me. guess i'll try to not get too freaked out by the scale, which keeps going up every day! thx, ~epona
  • AH! Dogfish Head is one of my favorites! Just had a Palo Santo last night! So you are having maybe a good beer a week or so and still losing? Thanks! Epona
