  • I just found a great bit about rainy day training http://kcossaboon.hubpages.com/hub/TipsforRunningintheRain HTH!
  • Don't forget that almost everyone has something that they're self conscious about. And, our friends always look at us with kinder eyes than we use in the mirror. Have a great time...just don't forget your sunscreen!
  • Per your question. I recently bought a Taylor digital scale that I like fine. I have a Tanita in storage on the East Coast that I love. The Tanita's Body Fat calculations were more consistent than the Taylor's. It's important to me to have a reliable scale, my weight is part of the data I track and it definitely keeps me…
  • Great job...keep up the good work!
  • I'm so glad he came around! And, good for you for sticking your ground!!! When I think back on the things I regret most in my life...it's rarely things I did...it's mostly things I *didn't*. Have a fabulous time tomorrow!!!
  • This sounds like the perfect solution. You have a goal and you're taking it seriously. Plus, it's not like you're the Guest of Honor and everyone has been slaving away to please you. You're looking after yourself...kudos!
  • That's the one I didn't care for...have you tried Fage, yet?
  • What brand did you buy? Everyone seems to have a very particular favorite...mine is Fage. I tried the Oikos and nearly hurled. But, I have a friend who had the opposite reaction. All I need in mine is a spoonful of the Trader Joe's Honey Apple Butter and a generous sprinkle of cinnamon. It tastes like apple pie a la…
  • Wow! I love how proud you are, and she must be proud of herself, too! What an accomplishment. My goal is 45 @ 45, thank you so much for the inspiration. Great job on your loss, too.
  • I loved my wedding eleven years ago and treasure every memory of that day...because I didn't let anyone dictate any detail that was important to me. This day belongs to you and your soon to be husband...pshaw to those people on The Knot. The only perfect centerpiece is the one that pleases the Bride and Groom.…
  • Their Fat Free Feta is amazing, and I love their whole wheat pastas. The frozen mango is off the hook...I eat it right out of the bag...it's like chunks of sorbet. YUM! TJ's plain Kefir is so good, and I love to use their Salsa Verde with broth as a soup base. Just throw in beans, corn, veggies...instant tortilla soup.
  • Ditch the canned veggies, and go frozen. Much better for you and you can portion out what you need for a meal more easily. Just rinse them and steam them in the microwave with the water that's clinging to them. Also, check your area to see if there's a fruit/veg co-op. We have Bountiful Baskets out here and for $15…
  • Definitely a difference...keep up the good work! We're our own worst critics for sure. But, the scale and your pants don't lie...better buy some new slacks, or make sure you're wearing pretty undies, LOL.
  • Klean Kanteens ROCK!!! Both the company and their products. My daughter and I use our plain stainless Klean Kanteens daily and they get dropped, kicked, thrown and rolled all over the place. Once she dented hers so badly that the bottom wouldn't sit flat...like a Weeble. I took my hammer to it and it's back to normal. If…
  • I grew up in the sixties/seventies and was lucky enough to have grandparents that had grown up on farms. They had a huge garden and preserved/froze so much of what we ate. So, I was pretty lucky...even though I grew up in the SouthEast and most everything was fried or "seasoned" with bacon grease. :frown: We learned about…
  • That sounds so good!
  • I love Kefir! Just tried it at the beginning of the year. Trader Joe's was sampling their pomegranite flavor. I actually got used to the plain and drink it when I need a quick boost, like before the gym. You can also use it to replace buttermilk in recipes...which is great, because I never have buttermilk on hand. It works…
  • Woot! There's nothing like feeling well loved (and you clearly are) to stoke the fires of ambition. Thank you for sharing this!
  • I think many people feel like saying "You've lost weight!" is tantamount to saying "You were so BIG before." I just say, "You know...eat less...move more." I think most folks know deep down that that's what it takes. We just all hold out hope for an easy, quick fix. If they continue to want more info, then I go…
  • Have you ever heard of the books "The Ultimate Lean Routine" by Greg Isaacs. It's out of print, but a great resource for cross training and eating right to reduce your body fat. You could try your local library or I grabbed a copy on Amazon fairly cheaply.
  • Thirteen of my friends and I created a private facebook group designed to support each other acheive healthy goals and that has been an invaluable resource. We post links and tips and celebrate each other's victories and listen to each other vent. Recently, one of the ladies suggested we do a "Biggest Loser" type of…
  • OMG! You look fabulous...the black suit is smokin', but I'm dying over the blue vintage inspired suit...GORGEOUS!!! Have tons of fun, and put sunscreen on yourself and the kids BEFORE you hit the beach. Sand and sunscreen SUCK. Get the spray on kind for reapplying at the shore. And, don't forget to bring back a little sand…
  • Gettng overheated kills my appetite...could that be a factor? Keep drinking that water.
  • You can do this! Quitting is hard, but you will be amazed at how good it feels when you don't want one anymore. Chuck your cigarette money in a jar for a new outfit, vacation, something fun that you wouldn't normally splurge on. Replace the stress relief factor with consistent exercise and/or meditation. When you're…

  • I don't know much about whey protein powder. But, a cup of hot decaf green tea is all it takes to knock my hunger pangs out at night...don't know why, but the green tea works much better than any other type of tea or coffee for me.
  • Definitely the water walking or aerobics. It's gentle and the water will help support your weight and ease the load on your joints. You notice results more quickly, too, as your working against more resistance than on land. I found classes for my Mom through Parks and Rec...check online for the programs in your city. Good…
  • I'm vegetarian, but not vegan. I like tofu, beans, low fat cottage cheese, greek yogurt, plain lowfat kefir, low fat cheese (feta and goat especially) and eggs as protein sources. HTH!

  • Fage 2% is my favorite...yum!
  • I've read that Chia Seeds act like little water batteries, and help keep you hydrated without having to pee so much. The article said that runners eat them to stay hydrated during races when they can't take potty breaks. Your body does adjust, and I think it makes a differece whether or not you're a sipper or a guzzler. I…
  • I cook and then drain and freeze in "can sized" portions now. They thaw pretty quickly. Not as convenient as cans...but, no sodium or BPA to deal with.
