Black pudding and haggis are gross. They are more traditional foods for most people, than something we eat daily!

If you are new to all this, and new to your fitbit, maybe for a week or so you should just track what's going on. See what you eat by logging accurately, see how many steps you do on work / nonwork days, see how you feel when you look at your graphs and see how many calories you are over your weekly goal. I founf it easier…

I think you are probably eating way more calories than you think. Even if you don't use the scale forever, give yourself a few weeks using one to get a feel of what different portions look like. You will be shocked.

The whole soda thing (fizzy drinks as I would say!) is strange to me - I'm British, and cans of soda are something to take on a picnic, or I might order a lemonade in the pub if I was the designated driver. I also might have a fizzy drink on the rare occasion we stop at a fast food place (usually at a motorway service…

I agree, one of the attractive things about any way of eating based on traditional cuisines instead of micronutrients is that it celebrates delicious food and avoids some of the anxiety I think calorie counting can induce in some (many?) people.

Yes, I live in the UK and have been to France lots of times, and Italy twice. The book I read suggested that rising obesity in France was due to the spread of an new food culture (specifically, an American food culture) and that this was undermining the traditions which historically kept French women (and she is talking…

I read a book about this - 'why french women don't get fat' I think. It was quite a good read, for a 'diet' book. Her main idea, as I remember it, was that France's very strong food culture prevents people getting fat. Food is very highly regarded - hence far fewer junk food outlets that you find in the USA. French people…

I have no idea what you mean by 'lift heavy'. How can I do this at home?
-
I TOTALLY get your situation. There IS a link between poor sleep and weight gain. Your brain is tired, struggling to function, so it looks for that 'boost' of carbs to perk it up. I have experienced the almost EXACT situation you describe, many times. Firstly, I don't know how old your child is, but hopefully young enough…

I love my kids, so I'm not going to vanish them! Maybe a housekeeper to do all the cleaning and washing they create, and a nanny to look after them so I could excercise, and a cook to sort out health meals. Yup, that's it - I need staff.
-
Me too! I lost 0.8 lb today and I have noone to say well done . I will add you.
-
3 very young kids. Life is manic, fitting in meal prep and excercise is hard.
-
Reporting this too. Go flog your snake oil elsewhere,

Mmm, I wondered about a hormone imbalance, or possibly a metabolic disorder, but I doubt it - the vet gave him the all clear.
-
Ah, I stand corrected. Fair enough, if you read it online, it' good advice. I probably have not covered than in my Cat Sport Science Fitness Nutrition Coaching Diploma yet.
-
And can I just say, we're all so PROUD of you for facing up to your problem and asking for help, you are on the road to a new, thinner, happier, more morally superior cat! Yay!
-
I'm reporting you, selling your trash here. We all know it uses very low quality rat protein, not pure mouse protein.
-
What d'you wanna do, DROWN the poor beast? He should drink nothing but protein shakes and his own urine. Or your urine, if you prefer.
-
Thank you, someone speaking sense. When he starts to plateau, you need to JOLT him out of it by giving him nothing but acacia berries for 3 days - as many as he wants. Apart from that, stick to a 40 protein - 40 fat - 40 skin and bone diet (that will give him 120%, which will help avoid starvation mode). Encourage him to…
-
You do know this is all a joke, right?
-
^^ This guy knows what he's talking about. He probably uses the same mouse protein shakes as me.
-
It's too muich cardio training, that - he needs to focus on lifting, or we'll never see his abs through all that fur.
-
This isn't really funny, he may be doing PERMANENT DAMAGE to his metabolism. He may even get liver failiure.
-
I THINK you'll find, if you look into it properly, that although mice are red meat they have a very lean and beneficial micronutrient profile and are much lower GI than an avian diet. PLUS, they are more natural - how many chickens do you think cats were DESIGNED to eat? Hmm? You are right, te skin and bone calories from a…

As you'll see from my user name, I am a cat. I have a degree in Cat Sport Health Science Nutrition Dietic Fitness COaching. I know EVERYTHING, and studies have proved that avacado and tomatoes are very beneficial for cats. They contain secret souperdouper micro nutrients that give them glossy fur and burn up to 15% more…
The problem is you are feeding him human food when he should be fed CAT food. You are also feeding him way more than a cat needs to be fed. To be honest, you've created this mess by feeding him every time he "demands" it… although I don't know how a cat demands food.
What - raw rats?
-
Are you CRAZY?!? The Atkins diet is awful, there's no WAY he'll meet his macros on that. Don't listen to these dangerous fools. He should whole foods ONLY, apart from a good quality mouse protein powder.
-
No, measure his standing height, front paw to ear. Make sure he doesn't stand on tipitoes to make you think he's taller than he is. For fur length, you need to work out the average length so you can calculate the mass of his fur coat, to get accurate BMI. Alternatively, you could shave him before you weigh him.
-
I gained back weight I lost because I got pregnant. Sometimes a change in circumstances or lifestyle can spark regain - but now I have the benefit of KNOWING i can lose it, I've done it before!
-
You need to calculate his BMI, his BMR, his TDEE, his body fat ratios, height, weight, and fur length. Add it all together, divide it by 7.358, and then add back 0.7 for each gram pf protein he eats per 1 kg body mass (but you need to know his mass WITHOUT FUR, because that will speed up his metabolism of course). When you…
