I'm F, UK, 37. I've been on MFP on and off for a long time! I'm being pretty disciplined at the moment, feel free to add. I love yoga, pilates, and I'm just getting into running.

Oh yes please! Love active posters... and I post a few times a week, usually

I'm in England, looking for more UK friends - feel free to add me!

I'm UK too - feel free to add me!

3lb since I recomitted to logging on 22nd May. Happy with that, although i can't see a difference yet!

Looking for more friends. I'm f, 37, UK based, vegetarian, 50lb to lose.

Oh, and - in terms of non-meat options, there are veggie groups here on MFP where people will have loads of ideas, and there are some great cookbooks out there is you want to experiment with some vegetarian meals (whether or not you go completely veggie). I recommend 'River Cottage Veg' but Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall, but…

1. Some meat is a lot healthier than other types - crappy processed food is going to be bad for you whether it's meat or not! So if you eat meat choose products that are better for you, the animals, and the planet. This usually costs more, so it might force you to consider eating less meat (this is how I started down the…

I'm on day 3 of 30 day shred and I have 2 stone to lose too! I'm enjoying it so far, but I've never 'worked out' before (my exercise has always been walking, bike ride etc). My muscles ache like crazy - I could hardly walk down the stairs yesterday!

OP, your posts were a bit strange. It seems you can maintain on above 2300 calories. Great! You've found the weight / calorie intake that works for you, and you feel happy at that weight. But surely the fact that your maintenance calories are 2300, shows you that people maintain at different calorie levels? I mean, by your…

Thanks to everyone who gave some good suggestions here. Just wanted to let you know I have done 2 days of 30 day shred. This is the first time I've ever actually 'worked out', and I am proud of myself for making a start!
-
Thanks both. I'll have a look at 30 day shred on youtube (if it's there?) - I have to admit, I've seen people mention it and it sounds scary! But I'll give it a shot. The app sounds interesting too - I'll check that out. I like apps! Thank you both.

Of course it happens with a tummy bug - you just need to gently gradually build back to your normal diet over the next week. And your body will probably want you to eat more to compensate for the low calorie week. I find when I've had a tummy bug that it can look like I've lost tons - maybe even 10lb - but after a week or…

Ooh, thanks - have not watched one yet, but glancing through the list they look great, just the sort of thing I was after. Thanks!

Oh, sorry OP, I've just seen you're a 19 year old male. How tall are you? 130 is low for a guy, especially as it's possible your body might still be growing / bulking out... I'm no expert on this, but I'm sure some of the more clued up forumites will have some idea of whether your goal is apropriate for your age/gender...

OP, I've got similar weight goals and history to you. My weight gradually crept up and I lost a bit, and now I've gained another 10lb and I'm at 152. I should be around 120 (I'm 5ft1 before anyone raises their eyebrows, and I've got a petite build). As you can see from my history, I have no magic answers; but I know that…

Eat more during the day, and plan out (and portion) your evening snack in advance. And don't keep the snacky foods in the house. That will help the evening munchies - I suffer from them too!

I'm female, 5ft 1, and lightly active. When I joined MFP I had no idea how many cals I should eat. I told it I wanted to lose 2lb per week (didn't know any better) and it told me to eat 1200 calories a day. I did it for 1 week and started waking in the night with palpatations, dizziness and a panicky feeling. Never…

Well thank you, very informative. We would just call a twinkie a cream cake I guess. You can get battered sausages in fish and chip shops, so I guess that's an equivalent - are they common foods, or for special occasions, or what? Food culture is interesting.
-
Also, not from this thread, but I've always wanted to ask - 1. What is a twinkie? (as in, twinkie diet?) 2. What is a corn dog?
-
Stuff I don't get on this thread because I'm English: - chik-o-fil? - Why she is Californinan? (or was it Florida?) - National donut day? - Cinamon apple choco frosted donuts? (or whatever it was...) - What most of you are saying most of the time? - Beercan and bacon in an English accent? - The random insult to Jac? I…

Yes, I got a warning about my boiled egg but my glass of wine was 'low in saturated fat'!!! I'm suspicious - this would be an advertising gold mine for food companies. Diet Coke? Low in sugar! Nutella? High in calcium! Double burger and fries at McDonalds? Great, you hit your protein goal! Whether this would actually help…

According to my fitbit I climbed 25 flights and walked 14000 steps today. All I did was the school run and cleaning / tidying / laundry - I have 3 kids under 6. It really annoys me when people dismiss housework as excercise - with small children I can't work out much, but I can make sure I keep moving while I'm at home…

Great Idea. After a quick teach-myself-excel-charts-via-google, I have produced a 7 day moving average chart which suggests I have lost around a pound. This is great - at least I know I'm heading in the right direction (but very, very slowly). I think I will reduce my daily calories by 100, and see if I can hit my 0.5lb…

Thanks for the interesting replies. I'm not really interested in reducing the fluctuations, as such - I mean, when I reach my goal weight, it won't bother me at all if I bounce between 119 and 123 lb. I would consider I had reached my goal of 120-ish lb. My weight has always fluctuated a lot - sometimes up to 5lb compared…

I was struggling with this, as mostly I'm at home with my young kids, and sometimes cleaning up after them is all I seem to do all day! I mentioned on another thread that as a result of this sustained, low-level activity I was struggling to keep track of how much ex exercise I actually did, and someone (rather snootily!)…

As you lose weight, you need to gradually decrease the number of calories you eat - you burn less calories because you are smaller (yay for you, well done! :)) Have you thought about recalculating your goals on MFP with a greater weekly loss, and seeing what calorie allowance it gives you? Are you still carefully logging…

I'm 140 now, but I still feel a bit overweight - I'm aimimng for 115, but might stop at 120 if I like it there. Good luck with your goals!

(Wait for it - some British person will come on here now and say they eat black pudding 3 times a day and drink nothing but Pepsi).
