Good advice Machka9. I have learned that it does take discipline and consistency.

I'm gonna try tracking my food more consistently and see where that takes me. I don't feel like I'm overdoing it, but clearly I am.

Eventually, I want to lose more like 7 pounds. But, I can't seem to even lose 1 pound after 2 years of trying. I'm thinking if I can just figure out how to lose 1 pound then I use that knowledge/those habits to lose the other 6 pounds. I can't seem to find the right formula to even lose 1 pound.

I am 5'2" and over 40 yo. I would like to be back down to 118-120. I have been bad about doing a diary, but I'm hoping to get back on track to see the scale go down.

Amy R. - that's good advice that I probably need to do more of. What happens is I seem to fluctuate between 127 and 125 within a week's time. I just want to hit 124 and stay there for a few days and fluctuate to 126 and then lose another pound and so on and so forth. Just when I think I'm on a roll, I gain again.

Following. I am 5'2 and 127#. I'd love to lose 10-12 pounds. I'm struggling with weight loss.

Clearly, I am missing something from the people who are posting "this again" and such. I am not a regular poster, but I will admit to being a sugar addict. I think in order for me to get over this addiction I would need to go to some rehab facility. Preferably a nice looking one like they show on "Intervention" and "Dr.…

I also have to work out at home and stuck inside on cold/ snowy days in IL. My other problem is I feel less motivated at home. I would either have to clean up the toys in the kids' basement to workout or work out upstairs on the carpet. It's funny how you never see in the info-mercials people working out on carpet. I feel…

I agree with the number, but disagree that it should be the same movement over and over. I like to do 100 of a variety of ab work, e.g. 50 bicycles, 20 dead bugs, 10 crunches, 10 windshield wipers and 10 transverse ab (lower abs) leg lifts and the like. Good luck.

I bought my first hoop from SupaDupaHoopa in the eBay Shops section. Still one of my favorite hoops. There is also Mood Hoops, Hoopnotica and etsy. You will want to measure yourself first from the floor to just above your belly button to know what size to order. Though, I like my hoops a little larger, so I measure to the…

Here's an idea: Create a "mock" food log on MFP with all of the foods you listed in your "sabotage". I'd hope that the calorie count at the end of the list would scare you straight. I say this with all the support I could offer. I am in the "can't eat even in moderation" group. It seems if I have 1-2 glasses of…

I think by posting all of your "extreme food ideas" online to get feedback is one way to the out of the "Friday Night Sabotage Brain". Because then you will re-read the post, have yourself a laugh and say Oprah's tag line: "When you know better, you do better." Then, after work, you will pack your gym bag for tomorrow…

I picked up the hoop 2 years ago and I haven't put it down since (not literally). I love using the hoop for fitness when I need a light, casual and fun workout. Plus, I can easily hoop for 30 mins in the morning while I watch the news before starting my day. As for the original question about hooping in one direction, I…

As a Hoopnotica instructor, I recommend for beginners to buy a non-weighted hoop (no knobs or padding). I also think beginners would feel comfortable with a hoop that when the bottom is touching the floor, the top comes up to somewhere between the belly button and the bottom of the sports bra. This gives the body more time…

Please do a little research on the Pros and Cons of weighting your hula hoop. Those of us who are certified Hoopnotica instructors do not recommend weighting your hoop. The centrifical force of the weighted part of your hoop against your spinal cord is not recommended. However, there may be other sources who think it's…

Use "I feel" statments when you respond to her. Such as, I feel hurt when you criticize me. Or I feel deflated when you try to sabotage my progress, etc. You have to leave in your emotion word. Don't say "I feel you are sabotaging me", b/c that is an attack on her and she may fire back. It's harder to fire back when you…

When I was exploring Clean Eating, I went to Half.com to get some cheap cookbooks and Idiot Guides to Clean Eating, etc. Good Luck with it.

Circuit training at home. Switch intervals of "air jump rope", the best part is you can't trip on the rope. So, there is no stopping. Switch that up with light weights- even using items around the house- heavy cans, re-cycles milks gallons filled with water, etc. Personlly, I hula hoop to Hoopnotica videos and Youtube…

I like this idea. I would be looking for a Cranberry-Orange quick bread recipe and sub some Whole Wheat flour, cut down some of the sugar, use skim milk, add some walnuts for fiber and protein, etc.

I would recommend checking out Hoopnotica.com for their intro DVD. You can also buy a hoop there. However, check out all alternatives, such as eBay and Etsy. My source for hoops is Rachael of Insidious Hoops out of Geneva, IL. She's on Etsy. I recommend a anywhere from a 36" to 40" hoop for beginners. In hooping, bigger is…

As a Hoopnotica instructor, I would also recommend checking out the Hoopnotica website. However, there are also many vendors on Etsy and eBay who make quality, adult-sized hula hoops. Many can make them to fit you. Measure from your belly button down to the floor for a good idea of the size you need. However, if you feel…

Missy- I was finally able to listen to my music again in the gym. As I stated earlier, I really rev up to Rock Island Line, but I also found picking up the pace to some old 80's punk music. Have you ever heard of the Hoodoo Gurus? They were from Australia. I was also listening some great, fast-paced Irish reels with the…

Hi Omma- Are you doing the stretch in which you lay on your back, bring your left ankle on your right knee and then grab your right thigh and pull it closer to you? This will help stretch your hip. If you are uncomfortable on the ground, you can do a similar stretch in a chair without pulling the leg toward you. Just sit…

I was just going to walk on the treadmill tonight at the gym. However, the power of the music on my iPod took over and I found myself jogging and sprinting and walking to different songs. I felt so good and I would have like to keep going, but it was getting late and I still needed to come home to shower before bedtime. I…

I got in 30 minutes of running. Since I haven't raced in over a year, I could only guess my pace is about a 10 min mile.

"Rock Island Line" by Johnny Cash really gets me moving when I am the Arc Trainer or Treadmill.

Sorry, it took me so long to respond. As far as the costs, the upfront costs are what you have to prepare for. If you want a road bike (aka racing bike), then you will be buying an expensive bike and the clips and the shoes and a mileage computer. If you get a good "bike guy", then usually, some maintenance issues may be…

Today the plan was to bike to the health club, swim, bike home and run. Got to the health club and pool was closed. So, I did rowing machine for 12 mins instead. Biked home and did about 20 minutes of running.
