I have read as well that chocolate milk (1% and in only 1/2 cup serving) is good to have after a workout if you are looking for something with taste. It has the calcium and also aids in replenishing your protein...it is almost as good as a protein shake apparently.

If you burn 700 calories off at the gym, it is very important that you add 700 calories to your daily caloric intake. very important. 1200 calories is what your body needs each day just to get up and do your regular daily activities. Add a calorie burn and you need to refuel. I don't know how to calculate how much you will…

Welcome and good luck! Just keep logging in and be true to yourself! This is a great site for inspiration!

I am checking back in to say that I held up my side of the deal and went for a 30 min run. I have now downloaded a yoga workout on my ipod and Proud, the Biggest Loser theme song. I plan to set it for my alarm tomorrow morning so I will get out of bed and go to boot camp.

I am about to talk myself out of a workout too. I'll go if you go...report back later, gater!!

I agree with the above post. You should do something to include protein in every meal - including snacks. 12 almonds with a couple of cheese strings is a great first snack in the morning and then a piece of fruit and some yogurt with flax seed added is a great second snack. I think a bigger breakfast will also make a…

It is best to log in your excercise and then eat to that new minimum. The 1800 calories is what your body needs just to carry out regular day to day activities. If you increase your activity you also need to increase your food intake - feed the machine and it will burn the fuel more efficiently!!

Glad to have you on board here! It is a pretty useful site! Hope your journey is a good one!

The swimming device I know of is called a SwimMp3 player. I have seen them around and everyone who I've asked has said they are great! I work in the water so really struggle to go in outside of work to actually swim - I hate being wet everyday!! BUT I did go the last couple of weeks and swim a 700m swim (not far but I did…

If you have an ipod I strongly suggest downloading the treadmill workouts that are on the website under Nike Workouts. They are amazing and are 30 minutes in duration - I burn 250-300 calories in the 30 minutes and don't get bored!

I notice that there aren't many fruits or vegetables on that list! You may want to consider trying to start sneaking them into your diet and acquiring a taste for them! Are you able to chop up vegetables really finely and add them to your favorite dishes?( i do that for mushrooms even tho' I have no clue why they are…

My face goes splotchy!! I look like a reverse clown as my cheeks get red but my nose and all around my mouth stay very white! It is pretty funny but I don't seem to get too many weird looks so is most likely extremely noticeable to me! Or maybe they don't say anything because they are worried I may break out into a…

Creating the threads is going to work best. That is what I did to get any links off the main view site. Also learned some things by doing it and talked to others that I haven't before as I don't often start threads! So there is the positive side!! Michelle

Just wondering if anyone has taken an all time favorite and adjusted to make it healthier and just as good...

To find a member's profile page, just go to http://www.myfitnesspal.com/[USERNAME] but replace [USERNAME] with their actual username This is what I was talking about if you can't find their profile page.

Click on the profile name of the person you want to add and the green button at the top says add as friend. There is another way where you put their name into the address bar...I think if you go to the HELP section at the top right of your page it explains it in there. It is a bit confusing! Good luck with your goal as…

That is a good question! My personal opinion is that you really want to stay within your target heart rate. So your Max Heart Rate is 220-your age. Your target heart rate is then 60-85% of your Max heart rate. Over that and you are not working as effectively, under that and you are not effective. My understanding is that…

I didn't realize that they didn't have to provide it...I believe here in Canada all restaurants etc. need to provide nutritional info. I have been taking that for granted I guess.

You are right, it does relate back to the quads not being strong enough to keep your kneecap tracking across the ball joint. One exercise that I had (and it was so boring) was simply to stretch your legs out in front of you while on the couch or sitting reading, and lift each leg, one at a time approx. 5 inches of the…

Use the potatoes by making hashbrowns for the side!

I would do scrambled eggs with the tomatoe and parm cheese (I don't know if blue cheese would work cause I haven't had it) and then warm the tortilla in the microwave (20 sec) and wrap the eggs in it. Heat up the black bean soup to eat on the side! m

Did you know that he has beaten a lot of odds so far? He is still alive and doing fairly well. You can follow how his is doing if you google Randy Pausch Cancer Update. There is a show coming up soon about him - I just saw a clip for it the other day and need to find it again! He also has a book out called The Last Lecture.

We did the good old Turkey dinner at mom's! I ate over my limit today but not too bad and definately more aware of what I was eating than in the past! Fun times tho' with everyone together - we have a dice game that we ALWAYS play so that was fun!
-
when you say you are going under your calorie limit by 100 are you meaning the number you are to eat before you count exercise or the amount you get after exercise? The reason I ask is that if you are supposed to eat 1200 calories before exercising you need to ensure that you eat that - if you exercise you do have some…

chew gum, suck on a cinnamon stick or drink hot water...those seem to work for me.

I'm thinking that if you only clip your toenails every other year, forget the calories burned and use that day as a weigh in day!

Welcome and good luck! I have just joined recently as well. It is a pretty supportive environment so I am sure you will like it!
