Wife had the same problem with hers. It was the strap. We accidentally washed it with Fabric Softner, it would just stop reading randomly. We rewashed it and it has been fine since.

Like everyone says, drink more water. I drink at least 120 oz a day. It seems weird, but the more water you take in your body gets used to it and stops retaining extra water.
