Actually no penalty burpees in Tough Mudder, you're thinking of Spartan Race. And yes you're a little crazy, but the reason I love obstacle races is that they give me a tangible goal to train for rather than simply working out for the sake of working out. I certainly recommend increasing your running each week by a little…

I do Rugged Maniac every year! It was my first obstacle race and I would say it was a great starting point. It is not as hard as the Spartan Sprint, obviously nowhere near as hard as the longer races like Tough Mudder. It is totally worth doing, it was a heck of a lot of fun!

And you responded to my post, so obviously you haven't died to it yet lol  I like that though, you put it well. Might just have to try dying next time I work out, as strange as that sounds. I can't say I've ever pushed so hard that I thought I may die, we'll see how this goes.

"Success" or "Perseverance"

None of "those" pictures exist of me, and I doubt they ever will. I've never been too badly out of shape (though I was heavier than I liked for awhile), but getting to as fit as I am now I still wouldn't take them. I think it's just something you're either okay with or you aren't and your fitness level doesn't really…

I follow the 40/30/30 macros and it was hard at first to get everything close to these percentages. The biggest thing that helped me was tracking everything and then tweaking as I went, for instance if my carbs were too high and protein too low I'd add more meat in place of part of whatever carb source I have. It just…

I broke the cycle when I quit purchasing it. Simple as that! Can't eat junk if it isn't in the house.

I just go for variety! I eat a lot of meat, eggs, and peanut butter to get the protein and you'll see your carbs come from things like potatoes and rice. Biggest thing I try to do to make sure I get my protein, though, is eat lots and lots of meat!

Pretty sure mine is open if you want to look, I wouldn't call myself a full-on lifter per-say but I do strength training three times per week with CrossFit and eat 100% healthy gluten free. I think you'd need to up the cals a bit (and protein) from what I eat to gain - I get between 2200-2400 per day. You'll see lots of…

It just takes getting into a good routine, and sometimes it's easier to double healthy recipes if you know you'll be busy the next day (then no need to cook and no temptation to eat out!) Also getting your workout set to a schedule is good, just like you schedule your classes and wouldn't skip them. Find a time that works…

Sounds like either under eating or anemia to me! Just like everyone else has said, go see your doc and consider getting a blood test to rule any problems out.

My claims about success in CrossFit are irrelevant in a thread about CrossFit claims? Okay then.... :noway:

Just saying I've seen amazing results through CrossFit, it's not "just for cardio"

Just an FYI, in one year of CrossFit I went from a size 8 to a size 4 in pants, and from a medium to an x-small shirt. Don't knock it til ya try it. I'm eating twice as many calories as when I began, but far more focused on my macro nutrients and learned to eat much more wisely. I started my journey at about 125lbs in…

Easy, like I said.. men like things blunt and to the point. If you flew off the handle at him, just say you're sorry for doing it. You aren't all wrong either, you could also point out that him being so blunt hurt your feelings. We women are emotional types, and guys really don't know what to do with us :) I hope you jump…

Maybe don't go a week without working out and eating right, and he'll realize you're serious about it. I do agree that a cheat day here and there is good and healthy, but a cheat week? Not so much... You admitted yourself that you've put on weight, he asked how much you put back on. Men like substantial facts like numbers,…

At least you're seeing the differences in your body! That's a great sign :) Try not to hold the scale to too much importance (I know, easier said than done) because you really might just be putting on a lot of muscle. Remember that muscle burns more calories than fat, so in time you'll start to see weight come off as that…

I actually only use the calorie tracker because I find that when left to my own eating I eat far less than I need to be! I do CrossFit 5 days a week and can say that it took me many many months before my weight fluctuated (5'3" female, 116lbs) and when it finally did... it went up! After 9 months of CrossFit I now weigh…
