  • Tell me about it! The most local pool has early morning lane swims but I could only get 30min at most and that is with skipping breakfast and running around like an idiot to set off for work on time. It has one hour at a reasonable time on thu nights but this is so busy it isn't enjoyable the rest of the public swims it is…
  • Easier said than done but maybe try and not look at it as a diet but as a change in lifestyle. You want to maintain your weightloss when you reach goal right? That means the changes you are making will have to be for life not temporary. If you start looking at this for the longterm (it did help me to do this) all of a…
  • I don't use whole milk myself as I've never liked it and I pretty much stick to the mantra if I don't like it I don't consume it. I will have semi-skimmed or skimmed milk in tea or cereal. Can you fit it in your daily calorie allowance? Then go for it.
in whole milk? Comment by Duchy82 May 2017
  • The chances are there will be at least one other self concience person there so you won't be alone. I went back to swimming at a UK size 20, nearly 80lbs overweight a few years back to kick start my weightloss. No one batted an eye lid, go for it what have you got to lose? P.S. it felt great and at the time I ended up…
  • Hashi's and iodine are not a good combo it can actually make your hashi's worse, keep a close eye on your symptoms if you choose to increase your iodine intake. You may find that strenuous exercise is actually counterproductive as your cells will use more thyroxine as they are using more energy. It may mean you need a…
  • On average it took around 18lbs of weightloss to see a drop in clothes size for me so if you want to see results fast you are going to have to step on the scale. Can't advise on keto I'm afraid. Good luck.
  • As someone with hypothyroidism I can tell you it is a good thing you don't have thyroid problems. Euthyroid (normal thyroid function) overweight or obese people seem to hope that this is their answer and it will be easy, just pop a pill and the weight comes off but reality is, its not. When hypo you have to work even…
  • I'm 5'7 and for me 155lb is currently my goal 'perfect' weight as you can probably tell it is perfect weight is highly personal. Only you will know what perfectl would be for you. Maybe try recomp instead of weightloss to attain 'perfection'.
  • If you can fit it into your day then it's no too much. I have planned in 70g of blueberries, 70g of strawberries and a nectarine for tomorrow. I love fruit and eat 2-3 servings a day.
  • In short yes, but.... for example I can't devour a large takeaway pizza as I simply cannot fit that into my calories for the day even if I didn't eat anything else that day. I can however fit in a small one if I'm conscious of the Base type and toppings I choose. You just have to be sensible about it. Today is a great…
  • I could quite happily have soup 7 days a week, nothing wrong with tinned soup go for it.
  • In short, no I'm not, but the minute I start struggling to lose weight I will tighten up. The moment I can't get away with not logging some small bits I will start being as close to 100% as possible (restaurant food will always be a guesstimate).
  • Thanks! :) I'm seeing so many posts of people setting unrealistic time goals for large quantities of weight lately I felt it needed saying.
  • Stand corrected, :D mind you calculations without a calculator when I've only been up for a couple of hours = mistakes, lol! Mind you 1.25% proves my point even more!
  • No unless asked I don't tend to give advice to people on weightloss. It's not worth it in my opinion.
  • I didn't gain any weight whilst on clomid (did 3 months) if any thing I lost, I was using mfp at the same time. I don't think oestrogen pills are going to help you though. As clomid raises the bodies oestrogen levels, it blocks oestrogen receptors on the cells so the body doesn’t have its natural negative feedback loop and…
  • I weigh daily most of the time but I only record my losses in mfp.
  • The best way to make this sustainable is to eat what you want/desire within a calorie goal. If you want to maintain the loss you have to eat what you enjoy eating. I do exactly that, it does help that I do actually like eating what people would consider nutrient dense/healthy/'clean' food. I love fruit, enjoy vegetables,…
  • Weighing once a day is fine weighing more often than that won't tell you anything meaningful. If you can't help yourself either remove the batteries and put them in a different room that way you haven't got the easy access to the scale you have now. Or put the scales in a different room so you have to purposefully bring…
  • You see I have the big butt and hips (being pear shaped) so at my current weight of 164lb my tops are already UK size 10 (US 8). I'm aiming for size uk 10/12 and as I'm nearly there, just the bottoms need to drop a size, I will be quite happy. That I'm happy matters more than anyone else's opinion.
  • 140lb seems perfectly reasonable to me for 5'7 that is a normal bmi. I'm the same height as you but are aiming a little higher (155lb ish) that's because personally I feel I would look too thin at 140 but I probably have a different build. Thing is people are so used to seeing overweight people they no longer know what…
  • I've had weightloss success with every commercial diet I ever tried: WW, montiac, celebrity slim and similar, low GI, VLCD you name it. I have only every had success keeping it off with mfp (1yr last year, back to losing the last few kg) maintaining the loss is far more important to me than losing it in the first place
  • Not so much as a cheat meal/day as I just eat what I like but, I do find that if I eat a few days of very high fat (not uncommon around new years as a lot of the common dutch new years celebration foods are deep fried) it goes straight through me. So I try and hit the right balance of enjoying myself without needing to run…
  • It would be hard to tell using the app as not all food labels will list micronutrients therefore whoever has put the food in the database won't have listed the micronutrients as that info won't have been available. I wouldn't even know how you could possibly track it accurately, fortunately if you eat a balanced diet you…
  • I am assuming you eat back all your exercise calories, they are usually over inflated I suggest you start by only eating back 75-50% of them and see how that works you may inadvertently be overeating if you eat all of them back.
  • Yup I lie to my gp, they are usually lies of omission when I feel it is irrelevant to the reason of my visit. It doesn't surprise one bit that 64% of people do.
  • 1-2lbs a is normal, actually perfect amount, of weightloss per week I think you need to adjust your expectations. I'm losing a1-2lbs a month, still normal by the way as I'm about 5lbs from goal. If you maintain this rate of loss you can expect to get to goal in around a year that's good going.
  • 73lbs lost so far and being hypothyroid aiming for 80lbs ish, total. You've lost over a lb a week that is great progress, just keep doing what you are doing it seems to be working great.
  • Absolutely none because I hate the gym so boring! Now if I'm going for a walk or a swim i aim for an hour.
  • Your welcome! Just remember every little bit lost is a step closer, there is no rush you didn't get overweight overnight and it won't come off overnight. Also if you have a day where it doesn't go as well, then take it as a day in isolation, don't beat yourself up and try to stick to your plan the next day, life gets in…
