  • Isn't it amazing what we do to each other? Good for you for having a healthy attitude and for finding others that share your lifestyle choices.
  • I second this -- I had a few bad nights last week, and my 6-week plateau finally broke. I'm thinking it was the pizza! Enjoy the pizza and your friend's company. Then get back on tomorrow and drink lots of water!
  • Thanks, Vic for all that you do! It's a good time for reflection. . . It's been a hard summer for me weight - wise: after losing 27 pounds in from February - May, I hit the dreaded plateau for 6 weeks -- trading pounds back and forth. I may have a breakthrough this week -- we'll see if the loss holds this week. On the…
  • Try experimenting with your calories a bit -- I just broke a 6 week plateau by (gulp!) eating maintenance for a week. I also increased my water intake. I think it was enough to get my body back into losing (although not very motiviating to get me back on track!) Good luck with the marathon! When's your first one?
  • I had an ex boyfriend who was a food nazi. I was so relieved when we broke up! Enjoy the occasional cupcake! And thanks for the recipe -- I may have to try this during Cupcake Wars!

  • I broke a 6-week plateau this week by eating a few more calories and by increasing my water intake. Chances, are the 6 pounds are water, and you need to drink water to stop retaining water. (kind of counter-intuitive, but it works!)
  • This is exactly what I was thinking -- some truly don't notice, and some don't quite no what to say. This is why I surround myself with MFP friends -- it's nice to have friends that are going through the same things that you are and can help you through the rough spots, and celebrate the successes!
  • Sending *HUGS* to you! You know that you have an eating disorder and that you need help. This is the first step -- and YOU DO DESERVE TO GET THERAPY! You can't do this alone, and although MFP is a wonderful site and can provide some support, you need a licensed professional. Praying that you find the strength to make that…
  • I am typically over on fats, but mostly due to eggs, nuts, meats, and olive oil. I have started to track saturated fats (which are the bad kind), and I make sure that I am under on those.
  • You may be onto something there . . . One of the motivators that I had was when one of my suits was SO tight, I had to unbutton AND unzip them in the car while I drove home one night. (Good thing I was not pulled over) :blushing: Now, I have had to retire that suit -- it is way too big! I will also have to say that I…
  • It's true -- you need to feed your body to lose weight (which is somewhat counter-intuitive). I just broke a plateau by varying my calories last week -- a couple of days even ate at the "maintenance" level. I had lost 27 pounds and stayed there for 6 weeks (after averaging about 1 pound / week weight loss). This week, I…
  • Yes -- I have heard that you need fat to be "regular." Focus on increasing your healthy fats (unsaturated) like olive oil, fatty fish like salmon, and nuts. For some reason, almonds always seem to make me more regular -- lots of fiber and unsaturated fat! And definitely talk to your doctor, since your issue is extreme.

  • It depends on what you're craving . . . I had a huge sweet tooth, and was craving sugar all of the time. I had to cut carbs out for a couple of weeks, and ate mostly meat, dairy, and vegetables -- this curbed my appetite for sugar. I then re-introduced whole grains and fruit into my diet, but still pay special attention to…
  • My exercise today was in FUTILITY! I'm a computer geek, and we are trying to fix a program when everyone is off the system. Of course, the program wasn't misbehaving today -- I went ahead with the fix, but who knows whether this is going to be fixed on Monday. :noway: Anyway -- I digress. I haven't done Zumba in a…
  • I'm halfway to goal (lost 25 / 50), and my last plateau lasted about 6 weeks. This week, I just posted a loss of 2 pounds -- we'll see if that holds. I just stayed patient, and this week, I ended up eating a little more than usual. I had gone out to dinner with a friend one night and then just felt hungry the rest of the…

We'll see . . . And it looks like it's true -- feed a plateau. I've been over my…
  • Yes eat the exercise calories -- particularly if you are feeling hungry or weak. Your body needs fuel to perform -- particularly when you are exercise, or even with "non exercise" activities. A few weeks ago, I had spent about 3 hours shopping for new pants. (NSV!) Because this was not "exercise", I did not log it, and ate…
  • bummer! You'll have to buy new pants next time1 Congrats!
  • Me, too! We're twins!
  • Do they wiggle to and fro?
  • I'mmmmmmm Gonna Soak up the SUNNNNNNN. . . . Perhaps because it's 100 degrees outside!
  • SMORES cupcake? Where's that bakery? I live near Chicago . . .
  • You can buy as many shoes as you want! Jealous of those of you who have the bed to yourself -- I share mine with the dog! :blushing:
  • Don't be too hard on yourself -- cake happens. You have burned off the extra calories by walking the dog -- and I'm sure you both enjoyed it! Next time, rather than feel guilted into something -- either enjoy every bite of it . . . or politely say "no thank you." Believe it or not, people will understand. Unless it's your…
  • I said "no" to a bag of Twizzlers. I needed a snack and to get gas on the way home from work tonight. Instead, I had a "reasonable" bag of kettle corn popcorn. Went WAY over on my sodium today and will need to drink more water tomorrow, but at least it has fiber (I was trending short today)
  • Start with a small goal on something that you can control -- like measuring your food, drinking more water, eating more vegetables, or something. Once you start small, then add in the other items -- pretty soon you'll be eating much healthier and exercising. One small step leads to another, then another, and it will get…
  • Bumping for inspiration!
  • GREAT JOB! And how many calories do you burn by yanking your shorts up?
  • My teeth hurt just watching that ! But it is brilliant, in a way!
