I went "cold turkey" on carbs for a couple of weeks, and although it was really hard, it curbed my sugar cravings / habits. I have since reintroduced my body to "good" carbs including fruits and whole grains. I still get a sweet tooth once in a while, and I have found that Vitatops chocolate muffins are good. I also do the…

CONGRATS! And now you will start to see yourself in a different light. I had a moment like that a couple of weeks ago, and ever since, I have really started to notice the difference. (and other people have, too!) Can't wait to see your pictures -- have fun at your daughter's wedding!

I have a Body Bugg, and have found it amazing how many calories I burn just doing "normal" stuff like house cleaning and mowing the lawn. The biggest surprise? Shopping! I burned almost as many calories (400 extra) than what I thought. Since I didn't count it as "exercise", I didn't eat back any of those calories that day…

Great Job!

Starting Weight: 179.5 Goal Weight: 170 6/9 178.5 6/16 179 6/23 181 6/30 7/7 Mini Goal: 176 7/14 7/21 7/28 8/4 Mini Goal: 172 8/11 8/18 8/25 9/1 Goal: 170 Wrong WAY! (or should that be WEIGH?) I think I'm going through another 9 pound plateau -- my body started to trade pounds back and forth at 9 pounds, then at…

She's right! IT DOES!

Keep eating that cereal! LOL Great job!

Keep in mind that she might not be ready -- I know that there were several times that I was "dieting" only because friends were, and my heart wasn't really in it. Needless to say, the dieting didn't stick. If she is complaining about her weight, by all means, tell her about this site. If she's comfortable where she's at --…

I think you might be onto something there -- sometimes when I don't eat breakfast I feel hungry all day, or if I have too many carbs, I will start to crave sugar. (I have to be careful with even the "best" whole grain cereals -- I have found this to be a trigger for the sweet cravings). But that's an experiment for…

It sounds like you're pretty close to goal weight since you only want to lose 10 pounds. The closer that you get to your goal weight the harder it is to lose. You might want to start with a goal of 0.5 pound / week -- the weight might come off slower, but it will be less frustrating. I am at 1 pound / week, since I have…

Sounds good. And hold onto your britches -- is the because you'll have to be holding on to your pants cuz you'll be so skinny?
-
Congrats! I was just going to say that others will notice now that you have pants that fit. i just started wearing my new pants, and have received a couple of comments on how much weight I've lost. It was worth all of the hard work!

Do you have an iPhone or other Smart Phone? Yep -- there's an app for that! I have it on my iPhone, and it works VERY well!
-
My goal is 1 pound / week -- I am averaging between 0.5 and 1 pound per week. Right now, I am in a "9 pound plateau" -- gaining some then losing some, but on average I'm OK at 1 pound per week. I still have a ways to go. How close are you to your goal?

Have you tried the cauliflower pizza crust? It's a great way to get pizza back!
-
I haven't tried that yet, but I will look. I do have Skinny Cows once in a while, but my favorite ice cream substitute is a South Beach PB Cup: 1 fudgesicle, 1 tablespoon peanut butter, and 1 tablespoon of Cool Whip. YUM!

It will happen suddenl -- it happened to me just recently after 25 pounds. I finally needed new pants! I noticed the change myself after trying on a sleeveless dress that I would NEVER have tried on before, and it fit beautifully (and was on SALE!) I ended up buying pants that fit and also having some of my other pants…

It happens! :) I used to be a fast food fiend! The first time that I noticed that fast food wasn't tasting so good was when the company I worked for had their 5-star chef cook lunch for us. (We were a specialty food company, and he was demoing products). The food tasted SO good, that I wondered why I ever thought that fast…

Thanks for the chuckle! Great job on your loss!

It took about 25 pounds for people to notice for me. I am 5'7. The thing that helped me is that I finally bought pant that fit -- it was much easier for others (and me!) to notice that the body was getting smaller. And it is much harder for people who see you frequently to notice!

NSV: I am finally seeing the skinnier me in the mirror. It took getting some pants that fit and trying on a dress that I would have avoided a few months ago, but I FINALLY saw the difference. I know that I'll still have "fat days", but this is the first time that I have actually seen myself differently. Struggles: I am…

Don't let that comment get you down! Stay confident. You should be proud of what you have accomplished. So many of us who struggle with our weight have a tough time with body image -- even when we lose a substantial part of it. You have found the "skinny you", and you should be proud. You have turned the corner and have…

Sounds good!

The scale is not always the best measurement of success here. You can do everything right one week and gain some weight; and splurge a bit the next and then lose. To combat this, I try to focus on what I can control (diet and exercise) and worry less about what may not be totally under my control (the actual number on the…

You look fantastic! Keep up the good work!

MFP sets your goals based on your current weight and how many pounds you are trying to lose. You will need to adjust these goals as you lose weight -- MFP will prompt you to adjust after the first 10 pounds. When I started, I was about 200 pounds trying to lose 1 pound / week, and my calories / day were around 1450. I have…
