I'm not sure there is a rule. I generally weigh after cooking. It gives you the true weight. I have seen fish and chicken breast lose 2-3 oz after cooking. It took about 3 weeks to see the lbs starting to really shed. I was losing about 1 to 2 lbs a week now I'm seeing 3 to 4. I agree with post on watching what you eat. I have been doing this jan31st and working out 7 days a week. I have lost 10 lbs. I truly believe in this program. Remember if you are lifting you may be putting on muscle so the results do not show on the scale
