We just had our Weigh-in Wednesday post on our blog: http://mywalletisfatnotme.blogspot.com/. The pounds are coming off a lot slower than I had hoped. I've been told the weight comes off faster in the beginning, but this seems pretty slow for all that I am doing. Any tips for speeding up the process?

Everyone's body reacts differently when they first start eating healthier and exercising.

A few things... how is your sodium intake? If its very high, that could be why its slowing down your weight loss process. It is retaining water.

Also how much have you changed your diet? Not just eating the right portions of food, but also eating the right foods. A person can eat within their cals and have McDonald's all day, doesn't mean this is the best and healthiest choices.

If you are really concerned otherwise, definitely go to your doctor and do a thyroid check, but again, everyone loses weight differently. Some people don't see major weight loss until after a few weeks. Also keep check on how your measurements are and also how your body feels in general. The number on the scale isn't everything.

Wow, don't take this the wrong way, but 3.8 lbs is a lot for a week, especially since it wasn't your first week!! I haven't lost even close to that since my first week. I'd say keep doing whatever you're doing! You probably wouldn't want to go for a ton more per week since you're more likely to put on the weight again if you lose it too quickly. Keep up the good work! :flowerforyou:

How's your diet? (Not diet plan but the foods you are eating) and are you exercising?

It took about 3 weeks to see the lbs starting to really shed. I was losing about 1 to 2 lbs a week now I'm seeing 3 to 4. I agree with post on watching what you eat. I really changed the diet to less meat and more fruits and veggies. Knocked out bread and replaced with lettuce wraps. Alll I know it's much more fun getting fat!

It's been 3 weeks. So, about 1.25 pounds per week.

1.25 lbs per week....so what's the problem? That is perfect. Too much more and it's unhealthy.
If you lose to fast you are losing muscle and fat, you want to lose just the fat.

Biggest mistake you can make is cutting your calories back. You should have your diary set for 1 lb per week and actually EAT everything you are supposed to eat each day. The goal number in your diary is a goal to REACH, not a goal to stay under, as it already has the deficit subtracted from it.
Eating too little can be as bad as eating too much.

Yep, I would agree with Robin. With what you have to lose, trying any faster than 1 lb per week is asking for trouble. It may seem slow, but restriciting too much leads to problems. It didn't take a couple months to put it on - don't expect your body to get rid of it that faster either.
