jmedgar - you won't be bringing attention to yourself by asking a trainer for help. They don't announce it over the speakers or anything. They are only there for the members. Without members, they wouldn't have jobs. You can always try a group fitness class too. They are fun and you get to know people around you at…

45F/35C/20P. Got off track for a awhile but back on the wagon. Allows for low carb, but not ketosis. What has worked for you in the past?

Improving overall fitness includes doing strengh training. Increased HR happens with strength workouts too. Bottom line on HR? Monitors are not super accurate - some are anywhere from 10-20% off. Agree with Fit_in_Folsom - if you feel fine, nothing wrong with that.

Hi Anna! I've also been MIA! What a great goal for quitting drinking coca cola! I haven't drank much pop myself for quite some time! You'll wonder why you even drank it to begin with after being off it for while! I'm glad you're back in the game - glad to be back in the game myself! Lisa

I totally overdosed on sugar this weekend, hence a two pound gain. 6/3 - 198 6/10 - 194 6/17 - 193.5 6/24 - 192.5 7/1 - 194.5 Will be a struggle for Friday for sure, but hopefully won't overdosing as bad on the sugar. Thank you Suzy for starting the thread for the weigh in's today!! Very much appreciated!

Sorry I've been MIA for a few days. I took a couple of days off work and didn't get on my computer at home. I love this quote! It's all mental. I think we all know what to do, but life throws us curveballs. It's just like running - it's all mental. Anyone can run a marathon if they want to.
-
I've never heard of mapopmeter. How far is it to work? How intense are you riding, leisurely or intensely? Just a couple of questions that come to mind.

Do you know a good chiropractor? They can look at foot issues and see if they are also from misalignments in your back. I'd stick with walking for a bit, but throw some jogging if you're up to it. Just remember - exercise makes us fit. It's proper nutrition that makes us lean. It is possible to lose through diet alone, as…

Please go to the following website for a good estimate of your BMR. Your BMR is the minimum of calories you should be eating daily. http://www.fat2fittools.com/tools/bmr/

6/3/14 - 198 6/10/14 - 194 (-4) 6/17/14 - 193.5 (-0.5) 6/24/14 - 192.5 (-1) All in the right direction and love it!! Might even have to increase my calories a little. I have learned that eating low carb means that my BMR seems to be increasing just a little, in addition to burning more while working out!! And, don't forget…

While no one joined me in the challenge, I did it anyway. Goal #1 - Saturday - fail, Sunday - Yay!! I did not log Saturday's dinner, but it was a salad bar trip at Jason's Deli. Had a couple of hard boiled eggs, cottage cheese, and onions, cucumbers, cheese, bacon bits and dressing on my salad. I went with the Honey…

I monitor my heart rate during exercise, not my blood pressure. As heart rate increases, so does blood pressure - since the heart is pumping more blood to deliver oxygen to your muscles. Maybe that is what the doctor meant? Keep your heart rate below a certain %?
-
Absolutely! I'm losing with more fat too! I eat a lot of peanuts, almonds, cashews, etc for healthy fats, low carbs.
-
How much cheese are you eating? Olive oil is fine. I have my macros set to protein and carbs, 25% and fat at 50%.
-
Would anyone join me in any part of this challenge? You can aim to reach one or all three goals! Please let me know! Thanks ladies!!
-
You ladies beat me to it! I was going to start a new thread. I'll still start one to have more respond there. I overdid it this weekend, but I'm still down 0.5 lb this week. Yay - 4.5 in two weeks. I'd like to lose another 5.5 in two more weeks, but I know most of the first week was water weight. We'll see what happens!!…

Bummer to hear Etherlily1! I know a friend of mine is going to put up another challenge on facebook for after the 4th. I can keep you posted on what that is when she finally decides. I started this one based on that. Keep checking in on us whenever you like to cheer us on!

Great job ladies! As a group, we are still down this week! That's amazing!! Life happens, and we're not going to be able to control it, so little gains are no big deal if we look at the bigger picture. If our gains help point us towards healthier choices, that's a wonderful thing. Looking forward to next week's weigh in!

Great quote Suzy! Thanks for sharing! It makes me think of something I have to remember every day. Weight loss consists of the following factors: 1) Genetics - 10% (we have no control here, obviously!) 2) Exercise - 10% (Yay for exercise, but I wish it were a bigger part of the puzzle!) 3) Proper Nutrition - 80% (Yes, the…

Well, kickboxing and another 1.5 miles jog was actually yesterday and not the weekend... Yay - keep us posted on your races, Squeakmonster! If you have any questions, I've been run/walking for a few years (started with Team In Training) and now currently aiming to get to a 10k without stopping to walk this fall! Saturday's…

Last week - 198. This week - 194. I believe that to be mostly water weight - but I'll take it! I'm trying to keep my sugars below 55 g a day, including fruit. Other than my Sunday splurge, it's usually been under 40 g. Win, win!! Great job ladies - things come up, life happens. Little gains this week may result in large…

Great job SqueakMonster on your race and throwing away Olive Garden!! I'm glad you got to enjoy some of it and then get rid of the remainder - that is so hard to do sometimes! Do you have another race this summer in hopes of getting your goal?
-
I'll admit that I didn't log all of yesterday. But, I did fairly well getting all of Saturday logged. Saturday was a great two mile run (no walking!) and my last strength class. My hamstrings are still killing me. :) I did manage to get a little over a mile walk in last night in hopes to keep those hammies loose. Today…

I actually heard about the documentary (which IS a movie, by the way) on Good Morning America. It had nothing to do with Joanne said. Sometimes people go to movies or documentaries to educate themselves, not just for pure entertainment. I did see Days of Future Past, and liked it. Why take the topic away from what the OP…

Indeed! The weekend often times makes me not care either! Squeakmonster - best of luck on your 5k! That's so exciting! I am a run/walker myself and am aiming to get my walking out for a 5k and a 10k by this fall! Just make sure you have something for lunch that has a LOT of protein and let the rest fall into place! Please…

I haven't it seen it myself yet, but I'm really looking forward to it. Go see the movie "Fed Up."

Join the group "The Skinny on Obesity" for more information. Added sugars are the primary cause of many health problems today. I love sugar too, but I feel much better when I stay below a certain amount.

How much protein do you ladies get daily? I know recommendations are set to like 15-20%, but I always find I have more success when I'm closer to 25-30%. My goal with the 25% setting is 128 g. Most people try to get 0.8 - 1.2 g of protein per pound of lean tissue. You can also go here to get an approximation of how much…
-
Hi alexa! I tried WW several years ago, and while I was successful, I found out later that I had lost about 30 pounds of lean tissue. That's terrible. Lean tissue (everything except our fat) is what keeps our metabolisms burning. The more we have, the more we burn at rest. That being said, I would concentrate on eating…

I added you as a friend and you'll have to open your diary so I can take a look. I'm no expert, but perhaps I can help you tweak things, if - you are indeed - eating empty calories. Thanks for joining the group!!
