Walk or jog?

A couple years ago I did the Couch to 5K program and I loved it. Then we went through a major life changing event and I quit exercising and started stress eating. Needless to say I have gained all the weight I lost 2 years ago back plus an extra 20 pounds. Now that things in our lives have started to get better and back on track I have decided that it's time for me to get back on track. I really want to do the C-2-5K program again but every time I jog/run my foot that I hurt last year starts to hurt very bad and I think it's because I am so heavy now that it is to much stress on the foot I hurt last year. I will be seeing a doctor for this but until I find a good dr(we have moved and I don't have one yet) is walking the best option for me? How hard is it to lose weight with just diet and walking?

I lost about 25lbs with just diet and walking. I started c25k when I was about 197 lbs.

walking is good, I lost quite a bit walking a while back. I just started C25K for the first time, and if I can't do the intervals properly I just walk... which I know isn't the point, but it works for me! If you have access to a gym, I'd try going on the elliptical, freaking love that machine, I've never gotten any leg/calf/shin pain from it

I lost 70+ lbs through diet alone and had no problems. I started running again after I reached my goal weight and it's definitely much easier on the bod now.

Do you know a good chiropractor? They can look at foot issues and see if they are also from misalignments in your back.

I'd stick with walking for a bit, but throw some jogging if you're up to it.

Just remember - exercise makes us fit. It's proper nutrition that makes us lean.

It is possible to lose through diet alone, as sfbaumgarten said it worked for her.
