When that shmuck dmitry klolov steps foot in the gym and steals all the 20kg plates, loads them onto his bar, snatches super heavy and screams like an angry bear :D ! Jk I'd never mess with the klokster, ever My main pet peeves are A) people that don't strip their bars and you don't ever know if they are going to come back…

Btw I've been in the BOTB facebook group and love those ladies! I'll be sure to look at that blog post for future reference, especially for when I decide to drop down to 57kg.
-
Not my first meet-- this is my 3rd but the first one I'm taking seriously/ want to improve wilks for. I want to eventually compete as a 57kg lifter and want to go to nationals; my total is nowhere near the amount for 63kg lifters, which is 325kg. I'm terrible with strategy but that is the ultimate goal! After all this…
-
This is only going to be my 3rd meet and I only started competing in may, so you could say I am definitely new. I'm just super nervous going into this meet because we just got notified that it's going to be a huge 2 platform meet, and there are going to be some strong 63kgers competing. I didn't cut for my previous meets…

Yeah wasn't sure what category this would fall into because it pertains to weight loss but it's not a long term diet solution.

Yeah I think I'm gonna just do a reset for next cycles. My OHP and deadlift have been stalling a bit; I'm not positive if I'd be successful at hitting the prescribed top sets for wave 1 and 2 of these for the 6th cycle (while I'm confident I can do the 1+ sets). So I'd rather play it safe.
-
@jemhh I may have misinterpreted your post--and I really need to get beyond 5/3/1-- does wendler suggest only resetting to your 3rd cycle TM after cycle 5 only IF there is failure? I ask this because if I keep progressing typically, wave 3 of C6 would get VERY heavy, and it's almost nerve wracking to me.
-
So, I have chalked it up to a bad day. I just finished my 1+ week of C5, and I hit 90x2. On my 3+ week, I hit 85x3 so I was in the clear for that. So I think doing relatively heavy OHP for volume just isn't my cup of tea; I've been doing BBB for OHP at 50%, and that may be somewhat helping in increasing comfort. For next…

Congrats on the PR!! Also pretty sure I own the same leggings haha. Victoria's Secret?

Yes. When I did clinical work, theraband pull aparts were the #1 exercise we would give to anyone with a rotator cuff tear or shoulder impingement. Just make sure when these are done that the elbow remains at the side of the body to prevent the use of over compensation and shoulder aggravation.
-
From an OT perspective: The only time overhead movements are NOT ok is if there is some sort of precaution that the person has such as a torn rotator cuff or if they just underwent a coronary artery bypass graft. In general, I think overhead pressing is fine, so long as someone is using proper form and that they don't do…

https://instagram.com/p/BL3yrcNBXjftp6U21Hik6rrFVDbvVWva6UZxVc0/ My most recent footage; this is like 5 weeks ago or so haha. This was my top set at 170lbs and I got 7. However instagram was rude and cut off my last 2 reps; I also took my time so there's that too. But this was a volume PR at this weight which is very…

Which is why commercial gyms seem to opt for bumpers over Olympic plates. Also, most of those tend to be kilo plates, which can be confusing for amuricans. Don't want some fool warming up with the 25kg plates on each side thinking they're in lbs

Yeah I'm no expert but that lumbar curve at the bottom looks like it may not be helping you in the pain department. Look for Althean x's video on YouTube about "but wink" or a posterior pelvic tilt at the bottom of your squat. I am going to be redundant though and rephrase others' advice. Start with goblet squats to get a…

A pair of Nike training sneakers. After only a few weeks of use, the bottom of one of my shoes started coming off after rope climbing. After then, I switched to much cheaper CrossFit shoes and they hold up MUCH better!

Other than a barbell and weights, chalk. It is my vice! I use it for all the heavy deadlifts and I'd say it stops me from losing my grip and further ripping my lil baby hands.
-
Just deadlifted yesterday 5x10 at 60% of my 1rm and I have the torn hands to prove it woo!
-
I'm by no means an expert but if you're truly afraid of aggrevating your back, you can always work with sumo deadlifts. It calls for more hip mobility and some people have noted that it helps eliminate the facfor of hips shooting up/low back involvement that can come along with heavy conventional deadlifting. But no matter…

I'd like to re open this discussion. I'm currently on my 5th cycle of 5/3/1 and have typically been getting at least 1 additional rep into my + sets. However, OHP has been the bane of my existence. I've been consistently able to do at 4 reps with 80lbs and I once-- by some miracle did 5 reps at this weight. Today was the…

I have tiny limbs so I feel like I'd have a bad time with both zerchers and the Jefferson deadlift lol.

Haha exercising can be interesting and sometimes weird looking!! I saw dlb doing that leg press smith machine variation. Looks super cool!! Also, these guys were snickering at me once when I was doing good mornings so I should be more sensitive to fact that there are a wide variety of exercises and variations out there and…

I don't always hate on the ego lifters. But when I do, they either take equipment for me when I'm not done with it, they hoarde equipment I want/need, and they don't unrack their bars or clean up after themselves.
-
Okok I learned a valuable lesson; everyone's sticking points with deadlifts are different, and it's ok to use a block during a rack pull if you can't adjust the safeties to an appropriate height for your sticking point. I'll try to be less judgy of the gym brahs
-
Haha I mainly ended up choosing gold's because they have bumpers and self hand-off benches and no hex plates! Despite the ego lifters everywhere, it's pretty awesome :).
-
I totally just thought about this alternative too: if the sticking point is just below the knees but the safety height is too high, you can use a set of bumpers to prop the plates over. The bar moves around more easily but it could help get it to an appropriate height. Then again, if the guy was doing this to help with a…

It was like 12pm. The gym was practically empty. No excuses and I was peeved!
-
Sorry I guess I'm not as familiar with this and didn't understand it but I guess it makes sense after all the explanation. Don't mean to seem like an ahole
-
More than anything, I was hating on the fact that he was using 3 sets of bumper plates when there were metal plates of the same exact weight AND he wasn't even pulling from the floor so why even use bumpers?!?
-
Haha I just made up the name because it's a total oxymoron-- which is what I thought he was doing seemed like. And this guy wasn't short by any means. Nor am I aware of his sticking points. But it seems almost counter intuitive for him to have the safeties set to the lowest level AND to stand on a block. And then he has…

I think I'm just confused because a rack pull or block pull is when the bar is elevated and it's main function is to focus on lockout, rather than having a person move through the full ROM of the deadlift. So I pretty much am confused why he adds a box to the rack. Like what is his goal here other than potential ego…
