I bought some silicone rings because the bar was scratching mine up too. I hate not wearing my rings, and I don't like gloves so that was my option.

I try to eat food with a lot of potassium. Sometimes I take a magnesium powder. Other times I'll drink pickle juice or gatorade. I stretch a lot and move around. Massage when I can get hubby to help out. I just kinda push through it... It sucks but sore happens.

Thanks! It was a super awesome experience! I haven't signed up for any other ones as of yet. Money is pretty tight. But now that I have an idea of what goes on, and what my goals are, I am focusing more on progressive lifting with an eye all on powerlifting in the mean time. It's gonna be awesome!

Update! I took everyone's advise and it worked out great! The event was push/pull and I did deadlift. I am super proud of myself for lifting more than I ever have before. No kidding extra strength from nerves! (I also didn't do a huge warm up or anything, I know that helped.) So considering I hadn't deadlifted since Feb.(…

I had a PR in my deadlifts today. I wasn't expecting it, but I really pushed it and was happily surprised! 68% of my bodyweight!

Have you maybe tried maybe looking at a hard core gym?(Like a body builder/strongman/power lifters gym.)They sometimes will sell lifting shoes, straps etc....

I had a couple of PR's. I squatted 95 lbs (REALLY afraid of my knee slipping out, which is why I've been going slowly with it), and got my hip ab/adductions both up to 175!

I'm getting upper arm and calf definition! eta- I've still got quite a bit of fat on me, so seeing this is encouraging me to know when that fat is gone, I'm going to look fit and strong!

Yes, comfy pants! I just flew back from Colorado (live in Tx) and I was retaining so much water I had cankles! My MFP friend was a bit worried seeing me loose so much weight on my news feed. I was like, It's mostly the water weight! lol I love food too much to eat so little that I loose .8- 1 lb a day!

I actually didn't drink a Margarita my neighbors gave me! I sipped it and put it in the fridge. I said no to free alcohol! (the calorie content was the major reason, but still, total NSV. :D

I have VERY long hair which I keep in a ponytail braid while working out. While doing the ab machine my head got a jerk from my hair getting caught in the machine. Doh!

I moved up from 20lb to 25 lb curls (each hand, same time) after being out of the gym for two weeks.

Great link. I would also suggest watching videos on form as you can injure yourself if you just start picking weights up willy nilly. I watch Alan Thrall videos but there are others out there.
