In my opinion...get off the treadmill, if the weather is nice..run outside enjoy the fresh air and view. If it is hard for you to run on paved pathways, find some fields or soft trails to run on. I have the same problem...diet is the hard part for me. I played 42 minutes of ball hockey tonight with an avg heart rate of 160. Using a typical online calories burned calculator, I burned 735 Cals. not sure how accurate that is... Tom

using the HRM for strength training will be fine for helping you calculate calories burned. It doesn't matter what type of exercise you are doing, using a HRM to help calculate your calories burned will help give you a good ballpark number.
