Yeah, and when I dropped a bunch of weight years ago, the free day was the catalyst to significant drops. I was sort of stuck at 20 pounds lost till someone introduced me to Body for Life and Fit for Life. It just doesn't seem to work that way anymore.

Thanks! I guess it's part of that whole fear of how can I possibly eat more and lose weight!?!?!? I'm sure you can imagine the amount of reading I intend to do this weekend! I guess it's about adding the RIGHT things. Up my protein, cutting out 4-5 apples a day and substituting veggies... It seems like I used to have such…

Awesome.

Bootcamp and what I do on the Total Gym sure feel like strength training to me, but done at a cardio pace. I did the TDEE calculator thing - I think I'm in a big, big deficit.

But surely I'm building SOME muscle with all the working out I'm doing, right?

Thank you for all of this advice! I'm totally willing to give it an honest go. I've lost and maintained a huge amount of weight over the last 10 years (I'm still down over 75% of my original loss) but this recent gain has been very hard. I quit smoking, I'm 36 now... Things just aren't working the way they used to! I hope…

TDEE = ?? Sorry, the acronym is not clicking at the moment. I'm at or under consuming 1200 per day, and I'm working out 5-ish hours per week. Everyone's saying I'm not eating enough, right?

I wish I had done my measurements before. So I'm hearing a lot of you say I'm not eating enough. I understand the logic behind that - boosting metabolism, fueling workouts... I am also pretty satisfied by what I'm eating, and don't feel deficient or weak. I eat a LOT of apples. Small ones, but a LOT - sometimes 5 a day.…

Mostly because I'm satisfied with what I'm eating now, nutritionally speaking. I've always seen the exercise calories as "bonus" towards losing the weight, not really as a green card to more food for the day. I'm worried my metabolism may be changing because what used to work great for me, isn't working at all anymore.…

Thank you. I'm trying not to give in, because I do feel more fit. If next month is a gain too - I'm going to strictly liquids. (On second thought, I could never pull that off). It was just really deflating to hop on that scale SOOOO sure I was going to have this major victory, and instead to have gained.

I'm just going to eliminate the free day. Maybe I'm officially at an age that what used to work like a champ no longer does. When I first started my journey, it was the catalyst to big numbers dropping off. I haven't measured, that's a good idea. I don't eat my workout calories back, and I only log minimal workouts anyway.…

Times like these I wish there was a simple "like" or "high-five" button. :-)

THIS is the most poignant, elegantly written TRUTH I have read in a very long time. Well said and very, very meaningful. What a wonderful example you set to us all!

Thank you for the encouragement everyone. This thread experience has given me food for thought - perhaps a new thread or blog about exposures.

What you are stating here is that during your 153 pound weight loss, you have never fallen off the wagon? No slip-ups. No weak moments. You have NEVER fallen off the wagon!? And by default, you are also stating here that because you've made a lifestyle change, you never will fall off the wagon? If you think that I believe…

Deal - but you have to do the same right back. Speaking of which - I'm off to the gym now. :-)

Well aren't you just a big bag of encouragement!? Since it appears much of my introductory post was lost on you, I'll break it down a little more elementary. First, you don't lose 200 pounds having never gone into battle. That's a life-long war. Your comment, "come up with more war-stories" is considerably rude and an…
