  • Might be a dumb question but... could you be pregnant? That would have that effect too!
  • I had the same a few weeks ago - except weighed myself just before I left, ate/drank nothing, walked a mile to the doctor's office... and gained 8lb by their scales by the time I got there! I tried to argue but they said it had been calibrated the day before and was 'really accurate'. Was a real downer, but I decided to…
  • This afternoon, I fell foul of the 'stupidly -cheap-because-it-goes-out-of-date-today' section at the supermarket. 4 mini onion bhajis for 40p. A bargain and they are only about 1" across - can't be that bad, right?... Logged them when I got home ... 323 calories!?! Well, that's my goal blown for the day!! (I don't throw…
  • Yep, Digestives and graham crackers are the same thing - i.e. what you would crush to make a cheesecake base.
  • I prefer the plain rice cakes but with flavoured light cream cheese (my current favourite is cracked black pepper flavour, but sweet chilli is good too!). Then crumple about half a slice of wafer-thin ham on the top. Delicious and only about 50 calories in total. And you really feel like you've had something.
  • I understand that it is hard but is there any way that you can tell people how them commenting on your weight, food intake, food choices, etc make you feel? Maybe start by telling your mum as it sounds like that might be slightly easier. Then perhaps you can tell your dad that him commenting on your food choices is making…
  • I'm a smidge under 5'3". I aim for around 1400 each day but usually go over by a bit once or twice a week. I try to stay below 1800 though (my TDEE). I'm losing about 1lb a week on average.
  • I walk a lot too. I have a lot of other commitments so I don't often find for exercise as such, but I walk everywhere I can. However, I got fed up with logging my walk to work every day, etc., so I added those calories to my base calories so I didn't have to log them. I aim for somewhere between the two for net daily.…
  • We usually have dinner about 8pm. I don't tend to snack after dinner because I don't usually have any calories left. If I do, I have dessert. This 'Don't eat too late' rule came from a Swedish study that showed that obese women tend to eat later into the evening than skinnier women. However, the study failed to take into…

  • Hmm, well, it wouldn't be nearly as accurate but would be better than eyeballing... Could you weigh the whole pot on a people/bathroom scale? Mine is accurate to with 1/4lb (or at least says it is) - that wouldn't too bad to get an overall estimate or would at least be a start? :flowerforyou:
  • An alternative (which I have considered but haven't got round to doing) is to weigh each of your cooking pots and note down to the weights (or even Sharpie them onto the bottom). Then, when you've finished cooking your dish, weigh it all including the pot and then subtract the weight of the pot. You can then weigh your…
  • Thanks, that's what made sense to me but I just wanted to check I'd got the idea right. Thankee!!
  • Thanks for the replies... No, that's my TDEE-20%. My actual TDEE is 1883. (I'm only 5'3") I set my activity level to Lightly Active as, since I can't drive, I walk to work and to other activities during the week. So at least a mile or two each day. However, occasionally, I do quite a bit more. For example, today I walked…
  • Good job! That is a big achievement because it means you've started to make significant changes. Well done!!
  • I will read that, thanks. I set it to slightly active, which came out at 1430, I think. I reduced it manually to 1300 though because I wasn't convinced I was *that* active...! I put it up from 1200 though because I was tired of it 'shouting' at me for being below the target it gave me.
  • If this is serious... Buy him some deodorant. Give it to him and tell him you'd like him to use it. That should be sufficiently unsubtle and should solve some of the problem. As for showering, I don't have any ideas.
  • I do weigh everything - but you might be right about being more careful in measuring cooking oil. I tend to guesstimate that, so you might be onto something there. And I do do exercise. My job is sedentary but I walk a lot (I don't drive so it's the only way I get anywhere - walking 10+ miles a week) and I got fed up with…
  • Greggs Sausage, Bean & Cheese Slice. One day, I will just walk past. One day...
