Hi, Amberlee. Welcome to the community!

We would love to hear your progress. Please consider posting here again for support.

Walks just helps so much with mood, as we all know. I realized today that with all the snow that we had I really should get out in snowshoe I bought them two Christmases ago, so my husband and I could enjoy winter outdoor activities together as his back would not allow for downhill skiing and my anxiety level has made me…

We always thought it was odd that in one house in which we lived, in an inner suburb of a medium sized city, we would have more power outages than possibly all our other houses put together, half of which were in rural areas. Those outages were also not usually weather related.

Just thought I would share… if you recall, I live in the Colorado Rockies. They call this area The Front Range, which is on the east side of the Rockies, ranging ~4 hr drive north of Denver (halfway into Wyoming) to ~2 hr drive south (Pueblo area). We got ~30” of snow in the last 3 days (it has stopped by now). Whereas…

Well, typos don’t help. I was talking about wanting to lose a good 10 pounds over a matter of four days, obviously just joking.
-
OK, I have been tracking and exercising now for four days again. Why haven’t I lost all the way that I want to lose already? Just asking.
-
Thanks. It is exciting.

My husband and I have realized that it is always something to deal with, healthwise. Can’t get a drug, a drug not being covered by insurance, etc. Sorry you’ve had to struggle with a lot, no med, side effects with new med, being ill, doing PT…you seem to be dealing with it well. Hugs

Hello, ladies! I have been here, but I only just pulled up mfp on my laptop. I usually just use my phone and it is so much easier to tap out a note on the computer, not the phone. So, I’ve made the decision to just accept that I need to lose more weight and to get firmly in the ‘normal’ BMI range. I have flirted with just…

@spicecat111 I’m guessing you may be gluten-free for health wellness, rather than being gluten intolerant, but I just wanted to make sure that you know that barley has gluten.

@beccaboo1276414 So glad to hear from you and that you are doing well. I had to Google neurographic art, interesting. For many years, I have doodled loopy curves around my name in cursive, later coloring it in with my pen. I find it soothing and it is something to do when listening to something. I have had to stop myself…

For GF, American Test Kitchens (ATK) has two great GF cookbooks, volumes 1 and 2. You’d have to look them over for appropriateness for heart concerns, though.

I don’t get obsessed with when I work out; I do it in the morning because I know it will never happen later in the day. I would like to mention something about your comments about your feet. In the past, my feet would hurt, starting in my mid-20’s (appropriate weight). I never thought to go to the doctor; doesn’t…

Something you may wish to consider… Give thought to the times when you become overwhelmed/stressed/lose motivation. Is it when your boss discusses work projects with you? When the kids come home from school? Or is it just after four hours or so? Then, prior to that time or just after, take a moment to sit back. Do a…

I’ve toyed with the thought with using my non-dominant hand to hold my fork to slow my rate of eating. Haven’t really tried it yet, though…
-
Really good ideas here. You may wish to also consider swimming.
-
Reading this, it sounds like you must get in some physical exercise! To respond to your question, I would suggest a 10 min walk before work, at school just before you leave, and then, after the kids are in bed. It all adds up.
-
Outside and sunshine does a lot, even if you’re just sitting on your porch.
-
How are you doing? Sending you healing thoughts!

Please talk to your doctor about your med concerns. Not a doctor, but knowledgeable of these two meds, I can’t imagine that they would zombie-ify you.

Another comment about handwarmers, the kind that hunters use. You might want to consider buying either ski mittens or ski gloves. They have a pocket that you can insert these warmers into. That way, you have some material between the warmer and your skin. They can get hot!

Wow, what a difference, RunningGirlKC!

@loulee997 If you’re in the US, many insurance companies do not require a referral from your doctor to see a mental health therapist. Search for ‘counselors’ or ‘psychologists’ or ‘behavioral healthcare’ on your insurance company’s website for an in-network provider. Then, see if any of the therapists have a website and…

@AnnPT77 Thanks for the information; I appreciate it.

@AnnPT77 You wouldn't want to be rowing here now (Colorado); it started snowing, but we shouldn't be getting much. It was sunny and in the 60s yesterday. We'll only get into the high 50s next week, but of course, we have that amazingly hot Colorado sun, so it feels hotter outside. (Yes, I do realize that it sounds a bit…

I like pumpkin- pecan bars. It’s like a graham cracker crust (I make a gluten-free version), then a thick layer of cheesecake-like pumpkin pie filling (homemade, of course!), topped with pecans and brown sugar and then baked. Not the lowest of calories, though!

For the chip problem, just keep saying no; you seem to be successful at that. You won't be able to stop them from doing that, beyond requesting it, which you have already done. Continuing to ask them not to offer chips to you will just prove futile and frustrating. Other than saying no for the second helpings, just fill…

The thing about the stigma around mental health concerns is that no one will know that you’re receiving help unless you tell them, with some exceptions. You’ve identified a concern; please seek help.
