For the chip problem, just keep saying no; you seem to be successful at that. You won't be able to stop them from doing that, beyond requesting it, which you have already done. Continuing to ask them not to offer chips to you will just prove futile and frustrating. Other than saying no for the second helpings, just fill…

The thing about the stigma around mental health concerns is that no one will know that you’re receiving help unless you tell them, with some exceptions. You’ve identified a concern; please seek help.

Losing just 50 would be noticeable, even more so, if getting down to 175-180. 50 lbs is more than 20%! Would you not think so?

Typically, if I have a glass of wine, it is before dinner and I’ve always logged it as a snack. Never gave it a thought of calling it a snack; it just related to the timing of it.

I agree with creating a meal, but with weighing it. Create the meal, logging the weight of each ingredient. Then bake it, then weigh the entire dish (the container and the meal in it). Subtract out the weight of the dish (yes, I know the weight of my different (empty) dishes, signed me up as a nerd). Then, weigh your…

I have a love/hate relationship with my ellipticatal machine. It has a timer on it and sometimes (not always), I think about the minutes remaining and tell myself that I can readily do this without dying. It’s always doable; desire sometimes just doesn’t match the need.

It sounds like you’re really struggling and I’m glad you’re getting help. Your weight loss is impressive and working out will help you on so many levels. I haven’t had need to lose a lot of weight, but just wanted to cheer you on.

@JulimarieS This is a very old thread. I do know that ‘60 yrs and up’ thread is active. (You can be in your 50’s and join)

I second niner. Working out on the ship before any day excursions is absolutely doable. It kept my weight gain within a manageable amount. Also, sign up for excursions with physical activity.

I appreciate all the pics you share, @honey_honey_12

I agree with Ann, starting in my late 50’s and into my early 60’s (now), I believe that I have increased my metabolism due to daily (not just sporadic) exercise. And I don’t do excessive exercise, by any means. I would guess that my daily maintenance calories has increased by at least 200, maybe 300. Losing weight is…

I have noticed that when I eat is very important with my ability to stay within my calorie budget. If I eat earlier than usual for any of my meal/snack times, then I end up eating more by the end of the day because of hunger. Lately, I’ve been breaking my breakfasts in two (I’ve done this before, First Breakfast and Second…

Wow! How awesome for you to be with this wonderful mindset!

@Eve53 I just read your thread today and was going to suggest showing your mfp log to your doctor, but I see that today was your doctor appointment. How did it go? Did your doctor shed some light on your difficulties in losing weight? Hoping your appointment went well.
-
@beccaboo1276414 Just thinking about you. You doing ok?

Ditto what Ann said about talking to your doctor. Be sure you include your feelings of guilt and shame (be assured, you will not be the first person telling your doctor these kinds of feelings). Hopefully, your doctor will be able to explain what an appropriate weight is for you and recommend a therapist. You asked for…

Please work with/be honest with your ED recovery health providers. We all care on mfp and you need more than input from mfp’rs. Best wishes.

OK, ladies, I have a status report... Today is the day before my summer vacation (I sound like a school kid!). My goal was to be less than I was earlier in the year. I just barely met this goal; I am 1.3 lbs less. My stretch goal was to weigh even less, so although I technically met my stretch goal...well, to say I did…

I would also recommend contacting local hospitals for recommendations for local DBT programs. When I was working as a DBT therapist, my group practice was only one in a major metropolitan area that followed the full protocol. We would get quite a number of referrals from the hospitals. That said, along with the…

@mkksemail You simply cannot watch that without smiling!

I suggest just two small steps: One, just log your food, whatever it is, healthy or not. Two, just walk 5 min every day on your treadmill. Try that for a week and re-evaluate what changes in your routine you are willing to make.

So, it seems everyone is voting to weigh and track the calories in fruit (I am in agreement). This is helpful not only for the amount of calories that you plan to eat for any particular day, but also for knowing your caloric intake over time. This way, you can better tweak your diet (what you eat and the calorie count).…

@sls631 How’s it going?

@beccaboo1276414 How are you doing? Hanging in there?

I hear you! This AM I jumped about 1.5 lbs up! Really? I get the up and down, but I refuse to accept it!

@MorticiaAddamsMSFS Great to hear it!

Nothing of importance to report; my son and I had a funny exchange that sent me squirreling on Wikipedia. I sent him a pic from my dining room this morning, over our neighborhood meadow, including the nearby mountain behind it. It has been weirdly rainy and gloomy/overcast off-and-on for weeks now, seemingly more on than…
