Hello everyone. I'm a wife, mother of six (all grown), grandmother of three (seven if you included granddogs and grandcats). I work full time as a financial analyst and am working on my masters degree. I compete in the Scottish Highland Games and am ramping up my training for the upcoming season. To get ready, I lift heavy…

Whatever you choose, a good trick is to order foods "dry". That way, they don't add oils and butters for flavor which is very common at a steakhouse.

Agree with @Cherimoose What recommendations does your doctor or physical therapist have? I would start there.

I visibly see a difference when my food tracking is on point. I am very active but only look fit when my calories are in check. I'm not sure if that is the answer you are looking for but food is really the key, not the work outs. Working out keeps me mobile but it doesn't affect my waist line.

I responded in your other thread on the same subject.

I recommend you look at some websites like eating well or eat this much for ideas on meal plans. You can eat very well and still maintain a deficit. (Personally, if I were you I would eat closer to 1400 calories a day but to stay near what MFP gave you, we'll assume you stay at 1300. Here is a sample menu for a 1300…

I took a look at your diary. Are you really logging every single thing you are eating? I ask because one day you only logged a subway sandwich, one cup of cottage cheese and some raspberries. Also, the chicken marsala you eat...did you create a recipe using exactly the weights of the ingredients or use a general listing…

Can you open up your food diary? Seeing what you’re eating in an entire day would be helpful.

I see the “disagree” warriors are out today. If someone disagrees, feel free to explain what you disagree with otherwise I have to assume it was an accident and meant to be an “insightful” or a “hug”.

Did MFP assign you 1290? According to your stats, you could eat 1450 calories a day and should lose about one pound a week. You should avoid eating less than 1200 - it is unhealthy and unnecessary. Again, gaining 2 ounces is really not a concern. Weight fluctuations are completely normal. You've only been at this for a…

It's not unusual to lose a large amount of weight when first starting a new way of eating. It should taper off to a safer weight loss rate within the first three weeks. If it doesn't, you can reassess your calorie needs especially if you are exercising.

Hi Debra...from another Debra. What is your age, height and weight...and how many calories are you eating a day? Are you weighing and logging ALL of your food? If you are eating less than the plan allows, you are not following the plan to a tee. 2 ounces is not problematic and definitely not a plateau. A plateau is weeks…

Someone would still need to buy the animals to graze on the land. Someone needs to take care of the animals on that land. That costs money. The average consumer doesn't want to pay higher prices for free range and grass fed animals. Farmers can't afford to invest money in a commodity that is not going to yield a profit.…

One thing I did at the beginning of the year is decide that it is OK to un-follow and unfriend family. I have family members who can be extremely toxic. Some of the things they post are things that I would never, ever allow on my news feed but I would just snooze them because, well, they are family. I always felt obligated…

They posted an update that they have fired the trainer but unable to get a refund. Others have suggested reporting the trainer to their certifying organization if they do not provide a refund.

Whole wheat pasta, chicken breast, hot rotel tomato and chicken broth for dinner tonight. Yummm.

Everyone burns calories through out the days. Those are not calories earned through exercise, rather it is calories that your body burns just to be alive. You will also earn calories for exercise that you do above and beyond that. If you want to use your earned exercise calories, you need to sync your Fit bit with…

Welcome Lauren. What are your fitness goals and what made you decide to come to My Fitness Pal?

Congratulations on starting...to your friend of course! As others have said, rerack your weights and wipe down equipment after use. Also, don't be afraid to ask questions if you don't know the right way to use anything or don't know the proper form. Try not to "save" things unless you are really using them. If you need…

Diabetes can not be cured. It may go into remission but it can not be cured. Cutting carbs does not automatically result in remission. @brismum10 Have you spoken with a diabetes specialist for help? When I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes, they referred me to a specialist right away.

A personal trainer and a nutritionist are completely different things. Your trainer should not be dispensing nutritional advice unless they are qualified to do so, as in a registered or certified nutritionist. Eat what you can, what you like and track your calories. As long as you are eating in a calorie deficit, you…

Not at all. It's the overall calories consumed versus burned, not the timing of the events.
-
This is only true if the person is burning more calories than they are consuming because of the exercise they are doing. Calories are key.

I know this is an old thread but I'm hoping someone will have an answer. I make cold start yogurt weekly with great success. I am wondering if anyone has tried the instant pot cottage cheese and if there is a cold start option for it as well. I eat cottage cheese daily and would prefer homemade.

My grand puppy, Murphy, came to visit today. He is a nine month old Newfoundland. For size reference, that’s our full grown Golden Retriever next to him.

Toast with a fried egg, avocado and Everything Bagel seasoning.

I have been eating pasta my entire life and *gasp* it was never unhealthy.

It happens to the best of us. It's one day and you can just move on. You can and should eat at least some of your calories earned through exercise. When your net calories drop below 1200, you can risk illness. Eat a sensible dinner with lean meat and vegetables. My go-to is shrimp and vegetables when I need a filling and…

I'll join in for 30 days of yoga but I will be doing mostly DDPY.

A good sports bra is really helpful when you start running! Also, run glide or something similar is helpful. I learned the hard way how much chaffing one can get from a sports bra or the seam on leggings!
