Welcome and good luck on your journey. You will never regret this step to better health. With portion control and exercise and journaling what I eat daily, I have lost 67 pounds in 18 months and improved my health dramatically. You can do this too and there is a team to cheer you on at MFP.

you go girl!

I agree with all the replies to date. I have knee and hip issues and have been able to do water-based exercise for 5+ years now. Not only does it help with weight loss, but it relieves pain and is fun.

I am quite a bit over 55. 67 to be exact. I've lost 65 lbs and have 20-25 to go. I've been stalled since July, not gaining or losing. That is sort of encouraging, but I do want to get on with this.

The difference is terrific.

Big difference. It's really worth the effort, isn't it? You can do this and you have lots of cheerleaders to help you along.

I am going to bake that into a cake (9 x 13) and cut it smaller. It does sound delicious. Thanks.

Try 1/2 teaspoon of light butter and 1 teaspoon of light soy sauce. It's delicious.

Is that the Vietnamese hot sauce? I'll try it. Thanks.

Open your mouth and breath through your mouth. Makes a big difference. When we were kids my dad always held a cube of bread between his teeth when he chopped onion. I later learned you don't need the bread. Hope this helps.

Isn't it fun!?

My most frequent lunch is one slice of bread or 1 sandwich thin with 2 oz lean ham, chicken, or beef, with spicy mustard, tomato slices, 1 oz cheddar cheese and 3 - 4 oz of baby carrots. About 300 calories depending on the combination. You could also use a tortilla. Sometimes I substitute tuna with a little lite mayo and…

I like quick oatmeal with a 1/2 teaspoon of Land o Lakes lite butter and 1 teaspoon of lless sodium soy sauce. I have been eating this for breakfast for years. It is like a bowl of rice for breakfast. If you like shoyu, try it.

Thumbs up!

PS: I started out using Weight Watchers, but I found counting calories was easier for me. It was really about portion control, because I always ate health food, just too much of it.

I started in January 2010. In June 2011 I had lost 65 pounds. I didn't start in earnest until March 2010, but my health records show that I had lost 5 lb since January. So a little more than a year. I still need to lose 20 -25 more. I wish you success. This website will help you and you will receive a lot of needed support…

Maybe you could count it as beef stew.

One of my sons has ciliac and he is also type 1 diabetic. It has probably been about 12 years since he was diagnosed, but he must have had it for years. His health improved tremendously after he changed his diet. I should think that alone would help your mother to come to terms with this. Where we live (on an island) there…

May she prevail. Thank you for sharing this beautiful, inspirational story.

None of my friends really noticed until I had lost 40 pounds. I was not saying anything. Too many times I had been on the band wagon and lost momentum or gained it all back. So I was several months into my makeover before I began to receive compliments, except from my family. Certainly you want to look good, but aren't you…

That is a triumph!

I love your story. I wish you all the best.

You must be some kind of cook! And I love to cook myself. This makes my mouth water and I just ate supper. But, of course, that is why I am using this website!!!!

Oh! That sounds delicious! I am going to make some tomorrow!

Thanks for the recipe. Where I live we often buy Alaska True Cod for a reasonable price. I usually season it, spritz with olive oil and scatter cornflake crumbs on top and bake as you do the snapper. This recipe has a little more kick. I'll try it.
