The answer really has to be buy yourself a heart rate monitor that way you will know for sure. Calorie settings on this site can only be an estimate because everyone burns calories at different rates
-

132 Calories for an hours running, I'd get your heart monitor checked I think!!
-
Sorry I don't agree with this, you only cheat yourself if you don't count food or wildly estimate calories burnt. I sit down at work all day and entered my setting as sedentary. Even if you ar "lightly active" or active I cannot see any problem counting anything that raises the heart rate and calories burnt as long as they…

This is a great answer you do not get anything for nothing

Basically it's not really rocket sience, If you do lots of excercise on Saturday/Sunday you should burn off lots of calories. A bit of gardening, clean the car, clean the house or even go for a good walk, that way you will have lots of spare calories to eat back and still be inside your goal. Failing that, if you are really…

Muscle does not weigh more than fat at all. 20 Pounds of Muscle weighs exactly the same as 20 pounds of fat!!! It just takes up less room but in terms of BMI I do agree my BMI weight is 12.5 stones and I would look as if I was an anerexic if I got down to that therefore target 14 stones but with muscle not fat.

If you have lost 73 lbs then what you have been doing obviously works for you but there may be other intensive excercise you could try over a shorter period which will give you a simular result. It's all trial and error but you have done tremendously well already
-
The clue is in the artical any shorter exercise has to be more intensive. A 60 minute walk at 4 miles per hour cannot be replaced by 4 x 15 minuite walks at 4 mph. If however you did 4 x 15 minute jogs you may burn off a simular number of calories. Do you have a Heart Rate Monitor? You can look at how may calories you burn…

Salad is healthy and you can have Cheese / Ham / chicken egg etc etc with it but look at how many calories there are in whatever you are adding before you eat it !!!!!!!!
-
You would be aqmazed how may calories you can burn off by just walking. I haven't been near a Gym, I'm not into all these fancy aerobics I sometimes use the Wii Fit but generally, I just walk varying pace and also the walks I do between flat / uphill etc etc. Works for me but then again may not for others. It doesn't hurt…

So what if you are not losing quickly? The longer it takes to come off the less likely it is to go back on because it makes you realise how hard it is to lose weight. I'm happy if I lose half a pound in a week it's in the right direction so I don't see that as a problem.
-
Theoretically you can eat back calories burnt through excercise because you then still end up eating 1000 a day less than you need. However, it doesn't hurt if you don't eat back all the "net calories" earnt through excercise every day, Basically experiment what suits one doesn't always suit another it's finding the…

Welcome to MFP. The best way to use this site is to look at all the blogs etc and think "will this work for me"? I use the site to plot calorie intake and excercise. Then I vary eatback on net calories. It works for me I haven't been near a gym I just go for a good walk every day and also log excercise such as cleaning the…
-
You need to take off your BMR ie how much you need to exist. I take off 120 calories per hour eg if I burn 500 calories in one hour as per the HRM I take 120 off that and enter 380 nett calories
-
Enjoy what you eat Eat what you want but cut the plate size A full small plate fills you as much as a full big plate. It's all in the mind. This is a great site as long as you realise that what works for one isn't always what works for others Basically find what's best for you and enjoy The best thing about this site is…

I stick to calories and vary eating back my excercise calories, It seems to work for me
-
yes because if you add the correct details others can use it. I somtimes think some people who add items can't read!!!!!!!!!!
-
I cannot see how this can be healthy. it's better to eat smaller portions of what you enjoy and excersise to lose weight at .5 /1.5 pounds a week. Lose quickly gain quickly
-
Welcome Aboard. Just eat smaller portions, if you fancy rubbish then have it but only occasionally, If you want a drink Have one but not to excess Vary your excercise, walking in the fresh air can be better than working out in a sweaty gym, Do you have a wii and Wii Fit? again use it. Clean the car inside & out (that uses…

Personally I think everything in moderation. Everyone is different what works for some doesn't for others. I go out once a week and I have a drink. Occasionally I will have one at home but I drink White Rum 65 calories a shot with diet Coke (Zero Callories. Hence 4 = approx 2 beers) Build up extra calories with excercise…

i have been on CPAP for 14 years and it has really changed my life.- If you are struggling see your sleep clinic or doctor. You could also try the nasal pillar style mask this is less cumbersome and you may find usihg lanolin cream on your nose helps If you persevere you really will feel the benefit and as you feel more…

Welcome on board and enjoy the change in lifestyle that will help you reach your goals. Remember blogs etc are all full of advice and things that have worked for others. There is no harm in trying those BUT they may not all suit you and you may find things that help you that are not mentioned. Also remember it's not a race…

Are you sure you have entered your food intake correctly?

I've gone from 3 hours plus a night to less than an hour a week on Facebook. Instead of sitting with the laptop I am now walking for about an hour every day with my wife , we are eating well plus both losing weight at a steady pace. So I have the friend who introduced my wife and me to MFP to thank This site is excellent…

Get yourself a heart monitor that way you can track calories burnt for any excercise but remember to deduct your BMR calories
