  • When I started losing weight, I was strict with what I ate. Every session with my trainer, he would look at the last weeks diet. Finally, one night I was out with friends and broke down and had pizza...it had been several months. I was upset with myself. His response to me was "Is it realistic that you will never eat pizza…
  • I am 5'10 and shooting for 175. It's actually a little lower than the # my doctor gave me. I got to 185 last year and I was wearing mostly size 10's with a few size 8s. I want to get to where more of my clothes is the size 8.
  • I don't think I would buy it sight unseen like Seltzermint555 said. I would want to see the condition first. I have donated quite a bit to Goodwill though in the hopes that someone would get some use out of it. It is usually the stuff that I didn't like the fit or that I didn't wear much while I was losing weight.
  • Thanks for this, I just got back from swimming and was thinking of looking into this also. Although, I go back and forth, swimming is the one time my mind is mostly blank, I don't think about work or anything else, music might change that.
  • Lots of garlic. I roast veggies with fresh minced garlic and olive oil. Garlic salt or garlic powder on chicken and beef. I also use a lot of chili powder, Cayenne pepper, chipotle powder, cumin and paprika on chicken. It is basically a taco kind of seasoning. I also use hot sauce a lot. Frank's Red Hot is my favorite,…
  • That is funny, I would have had to laugh too...after making sure you were ok of course :)
  • My Fitbit movement gives me calories, but I set my calories low on MFP to begin with. I have a total I aim for with or without the exercise. I adjust these numbers occasionally depending on how things are going. It's really just a place to log food and my fitbit reminds me to get up and move more often.
  • Agreed, I got up this morning to go swimming, just leaving the house seemed like a workout with the cold temperatures! Even though it was indoor swimming, just the thought made me cringe.
  • I avoided ordering unless the Girl Scout actually asked, then there was a box to donate them instead...that is what I did. If I have them, I will eat them and I can honestly say I don't really like them that much.
  • My parents were very proud of me in the beginning and even once I had lost about 100 pounds. Then I started getting the "don't lose too much weight, you are already skinny". At the time I was still in the overweight range for BMI, which I don't really worry about. I was wearing size 10-12 on pants. Not bad, but I don't…
  • To answer your question, I would eat at maintenance. I worried about gaining weight when I had hip surgery and couldn't do much of anything for the first 3-4 weeks and then just short walks for 2 more. Someone else said that the body would use more calories to heal itself. I have no idea if it is true, but I wasn't real…
  • That's funny...my dog has gotten some benefits from my weight loss. He gets longer, more frequent walks and I hare the couch better with him when we are just being lazy
  • It started all about me and I have become more selfish with my time...saying "no" to things like happy hour or dinners out so I can get my gym time in. Granted, there is parts of doing it for others also. I was single before, I am still single but would like a real relationship. I needed to boost my confidence and love…
  • I eat eggs all ways, they are my go to meal when I am in a hurry or don't feel like cooking anything to involved. I make some eggs in muffin tins that are basically a crustless quiche and freeze those for quick breakfast, I scramble them with spinach, mushrooms and tomatoes, if I have bread in the house, toast with an over…
  • Yesterday I was walking my dog and an acquaintance stopped me and asked if I was training for any races and asked me a couple fitness questions I was not even walking in my own neighborhood, but my brother's neighborhood. It is funny to be known as the "fit" one after so many years.
  • I drink 12-16 cups of water a day, at first I was in the bathroom constantly, but that has slowed down. I guess my body has become more used to it. I don't drink as much at night, so I rarely get up in the middle of the night.

  • I have never done the cauliflower as a sub for a carb, just roast it with olive oil or eat it raw. Spaghetti squash I eat like pasta, but not really as a substitute, it isn't really the same, but still delicious. Portobello mushrooms I use a lot too, I roast them and top with the toppings I would use on a pizza, again,…
  • I lift, you can call me a girl all you want, no offense taken. I am more offended when someone calls me ma'am....makes me feel old :)
  • I was diagnosed before MFP, and take medication daily (Lexapro). Mine doesn't zap my energy, but I was in the doctor's office this week and she asked me if it does because people do complain about it. I have always taken it in the morning with other vitamins and allergy pills, but she said to try taking it at night…
  • I agree, I do get treated somewhat differently by strangers. My friends and family still treat me the same. I think a lot of it is my confidence, I am not trying to hide anymore, I am still not the center of attention kind of person, but I don't want to be invisible like I did before. I definitely get at drink at a crowded…
  • It took a while, but once you say "no thank you" enough times, they may stop asking. That is what happened to me. If someone is ordering take out, they don't even bother to ask me. I am good with that. I pack my own breakfast, lunch and snacks everyday. We do have food days to celebrate birthdays or other things. Those are…
  • I ate them all the time when I started losing weight and had no problems. The sodium might make you retain water, but for me, it kept me from eating other, more calorie dense snacks. I think I ate them almost every day during the first 50#s lost.
  • I have lost over 100#s and did farmer's carries in the gym the other day with 110#s, how the heck did I walk around like that all the time? It is crazy when you think of it that way.
  • I wouldn't have found it helpful when I started changing things and losing weight, but I find it helpful now. When I started and had over 100 pounds to lose, I might have cried when I left after our first meeting. I don't agree with the treating myself once a month if the 50 calorie piece of chocolate is a treat, but I…
  • It's tough, I have friends who have tried to get on board with me, but they are just not into it. Luckily I have one really good friend that I will go to boot camp with on Saturday mornings and we will occasionally try a new class together. In the end, we generally prefer different forms of exercise. It is good when making…
  • As most have mentioned, I cook and freeze the meals or parts of the meals. I cook on Sundays and Mondays. Sundays is usually when I get my breakfast done and Monday I cook a meal to eat and either eat it the rest of the week for dinner or freeze it. Right now I have plenty of options in my freezer and can eat a different…
  • This and the fact that the doctor asks me how I have lost the weight and tells me I need to give a class. I also don't fear going to the doctor because they are going to make me get on the scale and see that horrible number.
  • I actually had to lower mine at the last renewal, that was fun!
