This! Finding a balance in my social life has been tough for me. I do have friends that will go do active things with me, but we also tend to center our fun around going out to eat and having a few cocktails, which I enjoy.

That's funny, I do the weighted hip thrusters and people used to look at me like I was crazy. They have gotten used to it. I think there are only two or three of us that ever do them. I will say that since I started them I have gotten a little bit of booty :)

I can't even really tell you what the ah ha moment was, but I do remember that one day I just decided to join a gym. It was a Friday, I hired a personal trainer on the following Tuesday and I never really looked back. My trainer helped me with exercise and diet. I did not do it in small steps, I went all in and started…

I have to remind myself of this sometimes, at my lowest, I had lost 125-130 pounds, I gained some back, but I have kept over 100 pounds off. My trainer had me do farmers carries - with 50 pounds in each hand. That was heavy...no wonder I feel so much better and can do so much more.

When I first started with my trainer, he looked at my diet weekly and this is the conversation that changed things for me. Me "I was bad this week, I had pizza, French fries and beer this week" trainer "It's not bad, is it realistic that you will never have those things again? You are never going to eat pizza again? We are…

Like a lot of you, I now realize I enjoy exercise (most of the time). Funny thing is, I have gym friends...people I actually do social activities with outside of the gym. Before I started this, I was terrified to go to the gym and now I have gym friends :)
-
So many of the above. By biggest one right now is - but I'm going out with my friends and I want to eat and drink like them, so I'll start after this weekend. This never really works because I do something social almost every weekend and sometimes during the week. For some reason when I started losing weight, I was much…

My family ate cottage cheese with grape jelly growing up, people always looked at me funny. I am happy to see someone else does this. Mine has not really been new food, the staples have just changed. Eggs, spinach, chicken are three things I buy almost every time I go to the grocery store now

My favorite is "you look taller now, are you sure you didn't grow" Pretty sure I didn't have a growth spurt at 40+
-
There isn't much anyone can do if "they don't care" though.

Telling the weight loss story does get old sometimes, especially when my one friend likes to tell everyone and ask me to show them my before and after picture. I know she does it because she is proud of me, but it doesn't define me. Everyone I meet now does not need to know everything about me. Then there are times that I…

Totally agree! I have used a personal trainer and I started with one. I had no idea what to do in the gym besides the basics. Having a trainer helped me from getting bored and I will say, he pushed me harder than I would push myself in the beginning. To my surprise, he helped me with my diet too. His help kept me going,…

I have had similar experiences too, but I ignore them...or I add to the fire and explain my two gym memberships, depends on my mood. They can preach the benefits of working out outdoors (which I do walk and hike outside) and the fact that you can workout at home. I just know I won't, I tried that, I sat on my couch, I'll…

I do a little of both, I have the big goal of where I ultimately want to end up, but smaller goals to get me there. I also have fitness goals and weight loss goals....big and small for both. When I started losing 100+ pounds was scary, so I broke it down. First few were ever 25#, then it got harder and I changed it to…

I have a couple people in my life that are like that. We joke with the one that when we get more than one exclamation point in a text or an e-mail, it must me he is extremely excited. I once heard him say he was excited...just once :)
-
Well, most people I know in St. Louis are rooting for your boys! I thought maybe I would root for the Cubbies, but when the time got here, I could not break the way I was raised:)
-
I agree with you on the alcohol consumption part, it can be part of your trip to the ballpark, but I don't think that is what makes people passionate about it. I get excited when I take my nephew to the ballpark and make a point to do that every year. When the Cardinals are playing, you are friends with all the other…

I have to say, I have more interests than passions. I love baking, I love working out (most of the time), I go through times when I love to read, I love to scrapbook...however I don't have the desire to do these things every day! So, I don't think I would call them passions.

As a Cardinals fan, I am rooting for the Mets with you As a child of the 80s, I never thought I would say that :)

Missouri does. Last time I had mine renewed, I handed the guy my old one and he just looked back and forth between me and the license and then asked me how much I weighed for the new one. I was way under the old one that had been under what I really weighed. It was a good day :) I also has Lasik surgery and didn't need…

I agree with this all, I lost over 100# while drinking beer, I did cut down to never during the week and tried for only one night on the weekend while I was really working on losing weight. I could have lost it faster without the alcohol I'm sure, but I am also trying to find a balance in life that I am happy with. I enjoy…

Mine did not get smaller either. That would have been nice:)

I talked to one of the guys I work with about this. He said something to me after about 45 pounds. He is someone I felt OK asking, so I said "Did you just notice?" He said "NO, but talking about a woman's weight is hard for a man to approach, I don't want you to think I am saying you were fat before, but there is no way…

I agree with the "the one that you will do consistently". I like to sleep in the morning and I have to get up and 4:30 or 5:00 am if I want to workout in the morning. I will do it if I have a conflict that will keep me out of the gym after work, but I try to avoid the early mornings. Also, if I am doing strength training,…

If it's a bloody marry, it could be affecting your weight loss due to sodium, Sodium effects the scale a lot for me and tomato juice, bloody mary mix, etc have a lot of sodium

When I eat junk food I log it unless it is a day of grazing on junk food, like parties with all the dips, appetizers and desserts. That is usually when you see nothing for dinner. I know I am way over, the thought of trying to log all the different delicious food is overwhelming, so I skip it and start logging the next day.
-
This is how it works for me too, by the end of the day I am good, even if I don't do a structured workout, I still get some added calories. Having a dog to walk everyday seems to help that :)
-
I lost over 100# doing strength and cardio workouts. I wouldn't stay away from either completely. I think you will be happier with the results if you do both.
-
Exactly, it's pretty simple...if I could just stick with the "eat less" part better :) I used to tell people in more detail what I was doing, but they got the glazed over look in their eyes because they really wanted to hear that I took a magic pill, so I shortened it to the "I eat less and move more"
-
Yes, the "eat less, move more" answer doesn't satisfy many people.
