+1 What you're eating is not helping you reach your goals. You need vitamins and minerals. You need Protein. You need lots of water. Learn to love salad. You can eat veggies endlessly and not go crazy on calories. Get protein from meats like chicken or turkey. Don't just eat small. Eat healthy.

I'll just say this. At some point, your kids are going to become curious about their biological father. For that reason I would keep the door open. But I do think that if this guy wants to be considered a daddy; then some sort of regular child support payments need to start happening.

I would just spend less time around them.

sure. adjust as needed. Just remember that too few calories on a consistent basis can make weight loss tough as well.

Good for you!

Yes, that's a good zone to be in IMO.

3 days of diary isn't much to go on, but at first glance it looks like you just need to think through your day a bit and give yourself some mini goals. If you think 1861 is a good goal number than split that up among your three meals. You're like me. Not a huge breakfast person. So goal yourself 250 to 300 calories for…

Sounds like you're pretty busy as it is. So why not start with diet instead of workouts? Your TDEE is about 2140 calories a day. (The amount of calories you need to get through your day) So why not try eating about 1700 ish calories a day. The 400 calorie per day difference should have you losing weight in a healthy way…

Yes, I eat back my exercise calories for sure.

I see a post like this at least once a week. When my extended family found out I was trying to get fit, they're response was to make sure they were stocked with the kind of foods I need to stay on track in my new normal. I'm grateful for such a supportive clan.

way to go!

are you eating back your exercise calories?

love my fitbit zip!

I'm basically eating at BMR right now. Trying to reduce body fat in big way.

I definitely have days where I eat closer to TDEE than to deficit. But I'm not cheating. I'm just making different choices that day. A few days ago I went a little crazy and had a big slice of Brozinni's Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza for lunch and then I had BW3's 10 wings w/ fat free Ranch and Teriyaki sauce for dinner.

The mirror is my guide more than the scale is. For me the scale is a great way to gather data to describe the journey. I do remember my army days were my most fit. Daily workouts. Lots of activity. Good eating. So I know somewhere 140 to 150 is a good place to be.

1200 is an estimate, 1666 is an estimate. I would just shoot for being in the 1600 to 1700 cal area.

eating a bowl of rice isn't the question. The bigger idea is to make sure your daily carb intake doesn't go through the roof when you combine a bowl of rice with the rest of your diet.
-
I agree that 1200 is a moronic blanket suggestion that MFP gives EVERYONE that wants to lose 2 pounds per week. I've been really happy just figuring out my BMR (how many calories it takes to sit around and do nothing) and making that my net calorie goal.

That pants size thing always makes me mad. Just put waist size and include the odd numbers.

Welcome! Don't do a cleanse. Start logging your foods here religiously. Watch the trends. And reduce your calorie intake. So if after a week, you see you've eaten an average of 2500 calories a day. Goal yourself to max out at 2300 or 2400 calories. Your goal is to get to the point where you're eating less food than it…

is it possible you're obsessing over a number instead of seeing the bigger fitness picture. 5'4" and 114 don't sound overly healthy to me.

CAn I ask how tall you are? Working through your basic numbers...

I think there's food in the supermarket labeled organic. And there's farmers who adhere to an organic philosophy. Not the same thing. I'm thinking about moving towards an organic mindset. But the only realistic way to know that I'm getting what I pay for is to buy local. Farmers markets and such where there's no middle man…
