• I tend to stay to a lower carb/moderate fat diet. Most of my fat comes from healthy fats like avocado, olive oil. While my proteins come from lean sources. My carbs are generally fruits/veggies, with the very occassional sweet. I am pretty successful with this type of diet and I feel I have more energy.
• I use a tablespoon of fat free half and half for 10 calories and add a shot (or two) of sugar free torani syrup. I'm really digging the sugar free salted caramel in my coffee.
• Check out www.hungry-girl.com. She offers several recipes of what she lovingly calls "egg mugs." They are all made in the microwave. I've microwaved egg substitute a lot and it usually turns out pretty decent.
• I'm currently working on Insanity. I've only finished week 1 and it's kicking my butt. But, I'm also already noticing some changes. It's worth a try and you don't need any equipment for it either as you do with P90X and P90X2.
• I have 2 herniated discs in my low back. I alter a lot of the exercises I do to help strengthen my core and my back. Squats engage your core big time, so there's something. My chiropractor gave me an exercise to do on a balance ball to help strengthen my core and lower back. You lay on the floor with your feet on the ball…
• I get an trenta unsweetened shaken passion tea with 2 sweet-n-low = 0 calories of ice cold refreshing deliciousness. I live in Texas so I drink this pretty much year-round. But in the winter, I really enjoy the skinny peppermint mocha. It is packed with protein. I jokingly called it my protein drink.
• I've been trying to cut back on the sweets in general, but chocolate is my downfall :( I love it! Last night, I was really wanting some chocolate, so I made some chocolate "pudding." I used plain 0% fat greek yogurt (about 6 oz - 100 calories) 1-2 tsp of Hershey's natural unsweetened cocoa powder (3-10 calories depending…
• I've used it in lasagna as the "noodles" It was delicious.
• A lot of things I was reading about say that you can order a tequila and water with ice...then add these: http://www.bajabob.com/singles.html You probably won't have them in time for this happy hour, but maybe the next. I love Baja Bob Margarita mixes, especially the triple citrus. When I have a get together, thats what I…
• I usually just get a glass of wine and sip it. Generally between 100-150 calories depending on the pour.
• You could see if anyone around you is a Team Beach Body Coach. Team Beach Body now has vegan shakeology. It's a little higher in carbs than typical protein shakes, but they are fully rounded meal replacements. They now offer 3 vegan flavors, strawberry, chocolate, and green berry. I sell them, but you wouldn't receive it…
• I would guess you are holding excess water. It's normal, but holding too much can be dangerous. Be sure to drink your 8 glass to flush it out. Adding in an electrolyte will help your body release the water (sends a trigger to the brain that you are no dehydrated and that its ok to let go of excess water). Some no or low…
• Check out the British Show Supersize vs. Superskinny. They are only drawn out for a week and swap diets with someone completely opposite from them. Taking into account that they are just taking in another unhealthy lifestyle, they see how the other person struggles to eat their diet. Together the pair learns why they eat…
• I'm betting CL is Craig's List
• When I was super serious and intent on never letting myself have those things, I'd eat a pickle. It would change the flavor in my mouth and I'd really not want anything else after that. Plus, they are pretty low-cal and the dill pickles are generally packed with electrolytes. I've also heard that there are some people who,…
• Have you changed the batteries lately?
• sounds delicious, especially with the addition of mushrooms! Thanks for sharing.
• [q
Can you clarify? You went low carb but didn't try to limit total calories and you still lost 55 lbs? Or did you also stay in a calorie deficit? Difficult to say what exactly caused the weight loss?
I didn't say that I didn't limit total calories. I did limit them. Quite a bit actually. I was doing a…
• Just realized I didn't answer all your questions: Any experience stories will be awesome! How long did you go on it...and how much did you lose in how much timeeee I was on the low carb diet very strictly for about 6 months, I lost 55 pounds. Eventually I was able to add bread and stuff back, but when I did the sugar…
• I've been doing low carb for over a year now. I've also used the Ketone Sticks. I've been very successful on the low carb diet. But, I was supervised by my family physician. I did not eat starchy carbs (no potatoes, rice, beans, bread, pasta, etc.). I feel the best I ever have. I rarely have sugar drops which I used to…
• Maybe just a 1/2 tsp. of almond extract. Greek yogurt flavors very easily. Doesn't take much.
• I don't know. When I first started my diet, I didn't tell anyone, except my husband and well the doctor and nurses helping me at Mediweightloss Clinics. I think I was probably more successful, because by the time everyone noticed, the habits were already developed and a significant amount of weight had already been lost.…
• Have friends over and make a healthy dinner and skinny cocktails (I like Baja Bob's Skinny Margarita Mix - Triple Citrus is the best). Go on dates with your boyfriend that include some sort of activity...maybe mini golfing, walking tours, etc.
• There's an awesome Chinese restaurant in Fort Worth that allows you to order sauces on the side and to get the dishes steamed instead of fried. I think if they can do it, so can other restaurants. (If you're in the Fort Worth area, check out Pappa Chang's Asia Bistro).
• Go to www.hungry-girl.com and search butternut squash. She has a lot of recipes using it and she has all of the nutrition stats. AND! They are delicious.
• Mine do the same thing, but I have two bulging discs and a pinched nerve...so it could be a pinched nerve maybe?
• I go to a clinic that helps counsel me in weightloss. They actually recommend getting most of your calories early in the day so you have time to burn them. That being said, its hard given our society and how lunch and dinner are our more social meals, especially dinner. To solve this problem, I find things that are low in…
• Jell-o makes sugar free pudding and gelatin snacks that are sugar free, fat free, low calorie and good. The Jell-o gelatin usually has only 10 calories and it's delicious. The pudding snacks are around 60 calories each and are also delicious. My favorite way to eat them is to add some fat free Reddi Whip on top so it feels…
• Check out Hungry Girl's recipe for chicken enchilada casserole. That's one of my fav ways to use left over chicken. http://www.thefashionablefoodie.com/2011/01/hungry-girls-chicken-enchilada-casserole/
• There's a Wii 10minute Solutions cardio game. It has kickboxing which is pretty fun and comes with weighted gloves. It's a pretty decent workout. On the wii fit, I like to do the ultimate hula hoop stuff which provides are a really good core workout if you do it right.
