  • No - not in my case, my friend. I have lost 31 lbs this way - days and days with no loss, then suddenly, it all drops off in one day (on the scale) 31 lbs gone in 3 months is not water weight. Sorry.
  • What a great thread - I'm going to have to read it a second time! I am obsessed, too - but in light of that, I still screw up, I still make mistakes - so maybe I'm not obessed enough. There are a lot worse things to be obsessed about - so, at least we are obsessed with something positive.
  • This just happened to me today. I was at 222 yesterday morning - this morning, 218. Its isn't always "just water weight" or "sodium". I believe it is all the factors (all of them including sodium) adding up and finally balancing like a checkbook that has been up and down all week with your good eating, your bad eating,…
  • Bumping cause its so darn good... :)
  • I have to tell ya - I am so AFRAID of this happening, that I think that is alot of the underlying phsychology that has held me back all these yars AND still screws with my head with ever 10 lb milestone. :/
  • Yup - I get what you're saying. I think there is some misconception that muscle sitting under a layer of fat just melts that layer away, like butter on a hot plate. Its hard to get that back out of your head when you've believed it for a long time, I guess. I definitely see the benefits in having a strong core, and not…
  • "now the more muscle you build on your legs the more defined your legs will become in a quicker amount of time... if you build muscle on your stomach as you lose inches or fat which you will eventually do. you will see that definition quicker..." This sentence still sounds like "spot reducing" to me. I guess its the…
  • I really like your analogy of the marbling in a steak - that makes what you're saying really gel.
  • Hmm... well what you just said sure sounds like spot reducing to me!
  • Yeah... I'm really not debating it - honest - it just seems really coincidental that my legs are the trimmest things on me now and I've been doing TurboFire 6 times a week and have also added running recently - my freakin' stomach won't budge! I have so many pants that I can finally pull up past my thighs - but cannot…
  • Ohhh I don't know - I'm not very thrilled with my hips OR my waist. :) so, what kind of shoes with the turquoise top/brown belt/white capris?? and jewelery?? could I just go with big silver hoops? (my signature) ;)
  • Would I wear the brown belt OVER the turquoise shirt?
  • oooh - I like the apricot idea under the olive! Keep these great ideas coming - I am so fashion challenged - I never know what to wear with what. How to combine colors, textures, what to layer with certain pieces - seriously - I am fashion fubar-ed!
  • I am not sure when you lost your weight, but, I lost a ton of hair after losing 45 lbs a few years ago - hair loss is normal after a large amount of weight loss especially if you lose it quickly. I was afraid if it didn't stop soon, I wouldn't have any hair left! It did stop, and my hair was thinner by probably 1/3 or so -…
  • Quitting smoking was the best thing I have ever done for myself. If you want it bad enough, it might actually be easier than you think. I wanted it BAD. And don't give yourself permission to slip up. If you go into this saying to yourself "if I slip up, thats ok". you may not try hard enough. Quitting is quitting -…
  • Thank you for this - I think keeping a "range" in mind instead of feeling hopeless when I go one calorie over my "rock bottom" number might help a lot!
  • I am having the same exact experience with clothes shopping! I am not small enough yet to really enjoy the cuts and styles that I want - And I have 55 more lbs to go, so why invest in clothes at this point, right? I have taken a liking to the thrift store - gets me a few pieces to carry me through while I am losing, at…
  • I actually find that my HR goes up with proper breathing. I'm interested what others have to say. I am new to running, and working on my form and breathing. I usually breath in for two paces, out for two paces. Is it better to exhale in one quick breath?
  • I have turbo-fired my way to almost a 30 lb weight loss. Its a lot fun - the music is great. Its a very well done workout program. I followed her schedule at first, but now, I have picked my favorite workouts and cycle them in an out of my week without following a schedule. She is great!
  • Thank you for saying this - I agree. If I would have used the word "discipline" instead of control would the response have been the same? I don't understand why some reformed alcoholics seem to resent other folk's efforts to strike a balance for moderation in drinking.
  • I just want to say thank you for writing this heart-felt post of yours - I am only 1/3 of the way to my goal, but am already afraid of what will happen when I get there. :/ I hope you will keep this thread updated as you continue your journey - I would love to be somewhat "prepared" for the maintanance phase when I finally…
  • Could you elaborate on "control is an illusion"? Also, is this statement related only to drinking, or food too, or life in general?
  • Interesting point about maintaining a relationship with alcohol while you're losing. I know that there are lots of "side effects" to drinking that can sabotage weight loss, but there are also some benefits to drinking that actually HELP me lose weight, too. Socializing keeps me more concious of how I look, dress, and keeps…
  • Did the weight loss stay off, or creep back in later in the week?
  • Ahh... I think I need to learn this art of the fake drinking. I don't know why it never occured to me... I definitely get peer pressured into a lot of my drinking. Isn't that ridiculous at the age of 38??? We just have sooo much fun when we drink. It will be sad to have to stop altogether.

  • Shake is a good idea. I just have too many mornings where I am busy and I look at the clock and realize I've been up for 3 hours with no breakfast yet. So, I know its important to break that overnight fast - was wondering if V8 would suffice - a shake would be better, then I could get more protein in.
  • CrazyStever - I am eager to hear what the next "phase" of your journey is like - the one that comes right after the "autopilot" phase. :) Keep digging at the deep stuff. I'm so glad I read your post. It was like a fast forward button for me. You put a lot of things on the table today/last night that would have taken me…
  • bluemiki - what brand are you taking? If you don't mind me asking? Also, on the topic of antidepressants, I just have to add that I have had a very negative experience with them, personally, so proceed with caution. I have tried paxil, celexa, and wellbutrin. I dealt with weight gain (last thing I need!) numb feeling (no…
  • Sorry for another post, but my mind is still turning over your post. Yes, there are certain people that just seem to lose the weight and its all just a superficial process that causes them to feel "better' with each pound lost, ending in them riding off into the sunset with their new, healthy body, full of energy and…
