It's raining like crazy here and getting windy. DH and I are planning a 65 mile ride tomorrow. It should be clear and sunny by then, but I'm concerned about standing water and downed trees.

Just added 13.4 miles on the trainer.
-
I did 3.5 miles this morning.
-
Go familybugs! Good luck; hydrate well and have fun!
-
GOOD LUCK!!!! I want a full report when you are done!

I love to swim. I've been swimming 3 times a week since February and it just makes me feel so good. I'm getting ready to cut back to once a week for the winter and I know I will miss it. I'm proud of you!
-
I did 12.7 miles this morning with my husband. We rode the course for the triathlon we'll be doing on 9/28. Nice and flat.
-
11.3 + 9.8 + 62 on Saturday = 83.1 total for last week. I don't know why I said I would do 90 last week; I think I meant 80. Oh well, the 62 mile ride my longest ever!

I did 9.8 miles this morning on my trainer so I'm on track also. We leave for Rehoboth today and I hope to do a 60 mile ride while we're there.

Definitely factor his weight into your calories. The best way to know for sure is a heart rate monitor. I used to bike with my son in a trailer and it was a lot of fun, but much more tiring. He's almost 6 now but he still fits in the trailer.

11.3 miles this morning.
-
I'm going to try for 90 this week.

Steff, congrats; I'll read your posts after I've showered; but I just wanted to let everyone know that I finished! .6 mile swim; 17.5 mile bike and 3.4 mile run. I exceeded all of my goals, and ate that bagel before 9:35 this morning!
-
I added 17.5 mile today, for a total this week of about 45 or 46.
-
It wasn't me, but I just got home from a sprint triathlon and I was happy to see someone interested. I love triathlons! Start training; you can do it!
-
Wow! You are logging some serious mileage. Keep up the good work!
-
Congrats Steff! Way to go! I can't wait to hear your report. Get a good meal, stretch and get some rest. J
-
Wow. Thanks for doing this! I'll let everyone know how it goes for me on Sunday.
-
I'm ready. I swam today and will do a short tomorrow. My swim on Sunday starts at 7:29 a.m. If all goes well, I'll be done and eating a bagel by 9:35. Steff: Good luck on your century ride!
-
I rode to & from work today: a total of 28.2 miles. That's it for me until my triathlon on Sunday.
Yeah but I got the low-cal/no-sugar electrolyte stuff because I can't have the regular stuff with my diabetes.
How does it taste?
-
I have found that it's pretty tough to lose weight when training for endurance events, especially in the heat because you can't rely on water, you need an electrolyte replacement fluid which = calories. Riding such long hours necessitates replenishing your body and you can't do the long rides without the calories. I've…

Oops: Forgot to post my miles. Last week: 82.5. This week I was on vacation and then spent one day with my sick 5 year old and one day was sick myself. 17.35 miles Tuesday 49.9 miles today Total: 67.25 miles. Next week will be another low mileage week because I am tapering for my triathlon on Sunday.

I do one long ride a week, and then two shorter rides. I try to go for speed on one of the short rides and hills on the other. It doesn't always work out that way but it's a nice variety.
-
Beautiful day! No humidity, high 80s, but lots of wind slowed me down. 20.7 miles today.
-
Here is a cycling endurance website I found that talks about proper nutrition and hydration during long rides: http://www.ultracycling.com/nutrition/nutrition.html

Last week my goal was 73 miles. Monday 40.4 + Friday 17.5 + Sunday 20.1 = 78 miles. This week, my goal is to do 80 miles. I did 45 today.

You should be able to find Gu at your bike store. There are many flavors and most are pretty good. In fact, the Chocolate outrage is almost like eating chocolate icing out of the container. I tend to stick withe the other flavors, like Triberry, Strawberry banana or the Lemon. If you can't find Gu, you might see Hammer gel…

Good luck. I hope you can do it.
