This is the right idea. Waiting around for the start will be the worst part. Just wear what you did last time and have a throw-off layer over the top. Happy Running!

WHOA!!!!! Extra points for jumping those! It must have been like "Pitfall!"!? The only hazards I usually find this time of year are walnuts!

Fantastic! That's a great achievment!

I have regular running shoes at the moment - they're nice for road or crushed limestone, but once I hit the tougher they just didn't hold up. I buy new shoes once a year - I'm definitely making the switch for next season (the winter here makes the trail impassable - unless you have snow shoes!).

Great work! Remember that feeling. You can call on it when you need to.

This is something I just tell myself, I'm pretty lame offline too.

I don't know how you people do anything down there in that heat! That's amazing. I think of it kind of like I think of running in our winter...though at least I can still get out and snow shoe then. :)

The local portion of the Ice Age trail while pushing my youngest in a stoller! Amazing Wisconsin Autumn day yesterday: prairie grasses 100 shades of brown, clear pale blue sky, oaks still deep green, 65 degrees. We don't get too many perfect days up here but I'll remember this one all the more for getting out in it!

Thanks for making this group!

I've done a few - the 'friends of' organizations of the local county parks host a series of trail runs every year. I'm signed up for a 16K in October along with Wisconsin River - hopefully no snow! - but on the bright side there's a soup buffet to follow. I love trail running - I'm slower but the run is so much more…

Rice, bags of dried beans, eggs, and sometimes day-old bread (cheaper), and whatever veg or fruits are on sale. Lots you can do.

+1 Don't beat yourself up.

OK - here's what you do: Go to the store, get a nice head of broccoli, put it in your fridge. When it's night time and you're hungry, open your fridge, envision eating the broccoli. IF you're actually hungry, you'll eat the broccoli. If the broccoli doesn't sound good to you, you're not acually hungry - you're just in the…

Sounds normal to me. Keep recovery in mind and soon you'll get used to it. I agree though you never get used to the 18 or 20 milers!

Thanks for taking the time to write this! What a great story! Congrats on your success!

It sounds like you're in great shape to get it done! Good luck, don't run out too fast, save something for the end. Have fun. Remember the greatest impediment isn't physical, but mental. Stay positive and you'll do well.

To give a completely straight, non wise *kitten* reply, look at the days calories w/o the beer or wine added in. Everyone has to do things the way that works best for them. I love scotch ale ... but loving it everynight doesn't work for me. I've essentially lost the weight I have not by changing my diet much or increasing…

I don't drink that much but I've reduced quite a bit the last month and the benefits to weight loss are enormous. ALSO, I've quit completely for 3 weeks and even if you just drink a little, you'll notice a ton of difference. You'll wake up feeling fantastic and get more done at night, maybe even be motivated to pick up a…

You're not the only one this has happened too. The good news is you've proven to yourself you could do it once, SO you can do it again. AND this time you'll know your pitfalls. I'd say you're in a good position to change! Good luck!

+1 Ha! I clicked on this thread for that reason too...

Don't hide them - you can only do so much anyway. Just serve them often. We tell them they're part of dinner. If you don't have room for dinner, you don't have room for treats. It puts the emphasis on the meal and not a certain part of it. Eat them yourself, in large quantities, otherwise ignore the issue. The bigger deal…

Dice and mix with greek yogurt and lemon juice and salt. Add garlic powder if you like. Use as a dip or sandwich filling/spread.

Endomondo - great things you can do with the actual site too.

+1 I have 3 half marathons and one full under my belt as well a some longer gravel grinders and road races on the bike. Doing all this and eating less than 2k calories a day too? Training for any endurance event and trying to roll in calorie limitations seems precarious. Just my experience speaking here. Anyway I wish you…

I'm 5'10" 207. I've run 3 half marathons and 1 full. I started running 3 years ago. I feel your (knee) pain. It sounds to me like you have 'runners knee' or pateller tendonitis. Sorry my spelling could be off. You may have restarted your running (after your break) at too high an intensity (distance most likely). This is…

Congrats on your success! I'm looking to lost the same amt. too. Good to know people can do it by using MFP.

Outrunning your fork is a great visual to keep in mind. Thanks for posting.

I know I should be concerned about my weight and itt's been 6 years of 'well, maybe next year'. Final straw? Last month I took my dad in to the hospital for fairly minor surgery (unrelated to weight/heart). 1) I learned that my dad has far, far better blood pressure than I do. 2) I saw all the people there waiting, sad and…
