If you're struggling to eat enough try switching from fat-free milk and yogurt to low fat, or full fat.

I had a set of scales that were very bad if I gradually added something - they would "steady" the reading - the only way I'd notice is it would go to a negative reading when I took the stuff away... just to satisfy the nit-pickers, zeroing your cup as you did for the cheese, how much do six nickels in your cup weigh?

not quite - while there are 16 oz in an American pint, and 20 fl.oz in a British pint, a british fluid ounce isn't the same as an American ounce - it's a twenty-forth bigger So the British pint is 20% bigger than than an American pint, not an American pint is 20% smaller ....

Anecdotal: I pushed my RMR down to 1150 kCal/day - measured by v02/vCO2.

4 times every morning, twice on a rubbish set of Weight watchers body composition scales (one contact for each foot - almost pointless, but it's what I started my journey with, so to keep my graph honest I've got to keep on doing it) and twice on my Tanita body composition scales (two contacts for each foot and hand. about…

I'm not ignoring you, I just have no idea what to say. Don't feel that you don't have the right to ask to see your doctor sooner - you always have the right to ask, and I'd be surprised and disappointed if they didn't agree it was worth it - although given the situation it might be difficult for them. I'd guess it is a…

I log what I need to to keep MFP in sync with my Ki Fit (Body Media) - cheating on the exercise is "as bad" as cheating on the food

Tracking works for me - it breaks the binge cycle having to enter it into the computer.I've had the rubber band on the wrist suggested, or going for a walk instead. On the other hand binging is my bodies respnse to over-restriction - are you letting yourself digest enough?
-
It was not eating enough for me. Are you eating your exercise calories?

Clint Eastwood is about right muscle wise...
-
It's more likely to be the calorie deficit making you cold than the fat you've lost no longer keeping you warm.
-
I guess you use stationary bikes at the gym. The bodymedia doesn't pick them up very well. (err... at all) I can cyclye at 100 watts and my BM can't tell I'm not sat at my computer.
-
That sounds like it is going to be really quite hard to arrange - what a pain. Good to see you're making some positive steps despite the set-back though - well done.
-
Woohoo! great news.

Nothing rational to worry about - and when I'm rational I don't worry about it - obviously I try to keep under the guideline, but if I don't I don't. But being surprised by some unsuspected salt caused my weirdness to kick in, and I firmly believed that stopping eating for the day was the safest option. I knew this was not…

5'7, 41, "just try to make it more than 2000 a day, please" - hoping to stop around 160 lb which is about 120 lb less than where I started
-
Crisis averted - a moment of calm and I've managed to plan a meal that brings me in under (barely) the (I know, it's just a number) sodium limit, and reaches my minimum calorie target.
-
What changes have you made? How much were you eating/drinking before, what exercise were you doing before, were you losing or gaining before?
-
it's in exactly the same way as lead weighs more than feathers.
-
In general you let MFP set your calorie goal for you.
-
If your BMR is just shy of 1500 you should NOT be eating only 1200

I think it's more a question of having the topic subject contain a warning, so people don't wander into a "loaded" topic by accident. I think people should try to be sensitive, but what people find triggering varies.

good to hear your tests came back clear, and that the doc is nearly happy. :)
-
try eating properly during the day - your diary shows you are WAY under.

"have you got cancer"

It amuses me in a place where so many tell us "we should learn to listen to our bodies" there are so many determined that babies should be taught to ignore theirs.
-
but if you did that then your proportion of body fat would be even less than it is now, which is probably unhealthy (but I'm no doctor, and don't know you, so I don't know) Easy to say, hard to to "feel". I know I *want* to halve my fat, but I'm at a percentage that is barely healthy for a man my age, so I'm going to stay…

I didn't manage to gain back the 5 kilos I lost the first week of December.
-
I might manage it for January, but I doubt I'll make it to my birthday, let alone the whole year.... but it'll be "fun" seeing where I fail....

"starvation mode" theorists will tell you that it's to be expected, that in a famine situation the body doesn't waste energy by making you feel hungry, which would lead you to make a fruitless search for food, but whenever you've had a reasonable amount it is worth the body risking a food search as it may be the famine has…
