  • It's quite heart breaking to read these posts, even the recent ones about the vaccine. I'm lucky enough to live in a quiet insignificant corner of the world that has largely dodged the covid 19 bullet. (New Zealand) Apparently we'll start getting a vaccine March or April, but we're not a priority because we don't have it…
  • Outside- for me it's cycling to work. It doesn't take any longer than driving, and I always do it twice a day, as there's no public transport so once I'm there, it's the only way I'm getting home.
  • i'm in canada and a fairly bike conscious city, so ymmv for where you are. but i do ride year-round and do a lot of it in the dark since our winters are very dark and very rainy. so for what it's worth: front and rear blinkies are mandatory here from an hour before sunset and an hour after dawn. the couple of times i've…
  • I'm using my bike to cycle home from work. I've been cycling the 16 km trip four or five days a week. I'm in new Zealand and we finish daylight saving this weekend. I'm a little worried about finishing my ride in the dark, but I'm really enjoying feeling fit (as well as the extra calorie burn) so I don't want to stop…
  • I don't know what your schedule is, but I've found shift my main meal of the day to lunchtime has helped. I'm not hungry in the afternoon and I find it a lot easier to disract myself in the evening when I do feel peckish
  • You two are obviously waaay cleverer than me. How do you add fitbit friends?
  • Welcome back. Making time to exercise is always a challenge as a mum because we're programmed not to make time for "selfish" activities. Before you know it the boys will have grown up and you need to have something of your own then, so start now.
  • Those two pictures really do tell a story. I need to get busy with a tape measure so I can measure my success in other ways. (That said, I did finally see a result on the scales this morning)
  • I've cycled home from work every day this week,(16 km) kept my eating within goal (without eating back my exercise) and was feeling really energised and positive until I got on the scales: exactly the same as last week! All that effort for zilch reward. I might as well have eaten chocolate and blue cheese with pinot noir…
  • My primary exercise is cycling with the occasional bit of scuba thrown in. Obviously music and scuba doesn't work, and I prefer to be able to hear the traffic while I'm cycling. Hard to resist? That's hard, there's so much; wine, ice cream, the peanut slice at my local cafe... The list goes on.
  • I've used this strategy sucessfully on dogs and kids! Eventually they'll eat what they are given. You're also teaching them about balanced diet when you stop giving them what they want at every meal. That said, allowing them to chose a meal every so often will give them some control.
  • My daughter got me a fitbit flex for Xmas. It's definitely fun but I'm not sure about the weight loss benefit yet. It seems to give me extra calories every day, even if I don't think I've been very active.
  • Hi from another Aucklander. I understand what you mean about exercise not coming naturally. I have joined so many gyms it's not funny, but the concept of working up a sweat with no outcome soon bores me. I even tried signing up for events thinking that the thought of failing to finish an event (tris, bike races, swims and…
  • :( Still not syncing, now 24 hours with no feed back. I suppose I should be reassured that I'm not the only one and assume that it will be sorted soon
  • I can't get mine synced at the moment either, although I've only had it a couple of weeks and it does seem to struggle sometimes. I assume it's user error
  • Most days. I didn't lose anything over the lsdy Twp weeks, but I didn't gain either. I was given s fitbit got xmas so am determined to keep active and get back on the weight loss journey from today.
  • I wasn't too bad over the Xmas - new year break. I kept up cycling most daus
  • I'm not an experienced user, but I got a fitbit flex for Xmas and am finding it really useful. I'm motivated to meet my 30 minutes of activity every day, even on days that I don't do formal exercise.
  • Take a look at that 30 minute commute. I've recently worked out that it takes me 35 minutes to drive to work, and 45 minutes to cycle in (9 km each way,) so a 20 minute daily time investment gets me one and half hours of cardio AND saves gas money. I'm not perfect and there's usually one day a week that I still take the…
  • I'm soooo envious of people who can carefully weigh their allocation of treat foods and only eat that. If I have chocolate in the house I have to eat the whole bar!
  • The Weight Watchers Belgian Éclairs are divine - feel like a real treat at only 87 calories. I cut them in half and leave them in the freezer until I feel I need to cheat. They take about 5 minutes to defrost so I make an occasion of eating them, usually with one of Jarrah's low fat choccie drinks - mmmm
  • I totally understand your fear. I ended up dehydrating myself before every run to reduce the risk of leakage. First step - talk to your doctor. Stress Incontinence is REALLY common after childbirth, and there is only so much that muscle training can do. If you have completed your family there is a very simple surgical…
  • It's soooo inspiring to hear someone being positive about their journey and doing so well. Congratulations, you are looking great
