I have mixed feelings about it, and personally it would be a life or death last resort for me. My mom had gastric bypass last fall and she has done well on it, HOWEVER, the important thing to remember is that weight loss surgery is only a TOOL, and it still requires a lot of WORK. For my mom, she has lost weight but still…

Whenever I go through this debate with myself, these are the questions I ask: 1. Will I use whatever member ship I am buying? 2. How will I use the membership? 3. Is this gym a good fit for one and two? 4. If so, is my health/body worth X amount a month. With that said, I always recommend shopping around. If you are…

On a lazy weekend I get a minimum of 5000, but on a normal desk job day easily 7500+ not counting working out. Usually the treadmill for 3 miles puts me at 12,000. On days I am low, I will walk around my house. Think about it: 1 hour of tv has about 15 minutes of commercials. If you walk around your house during…

Isn't it annoying when -- the office smells like fried food and bacon as you eat your yogurt and salad.

I legit am crying as I read your story. If this isnt inspiring to all of us then I don't know what is! Congrats, and thanks for paying it forward!

The group is currently full... I am adding both of you to a waiting list, and will contact you as soon as a spot opens up!

The challenge is full for October, I will add you to the waiting list and will contact you once there are opennings!

It will be a mix of stuff designed so that you can follow whichever diet and exercise plan you currently follow with little to no modification. The challenges will focus on smaller things that lead to a healthy lifestyle. Anything from tracking water intake, to planning, to discussions. Each week their will be three…

Maybe add something sort of funny like "We encourage healthy weightloss, so shaving your head, cutting off a limb, or other extreme methods are discouraged" My opinion is that everyone has their own way of losing weight and what works for them... I also don't think necc. believe that supplements would work in the long run.…

OMG you have no idea how much I can relate to this post... My mom and one of my sisters are SUPER TRADITIONAL... and I am more free spirited, anti-conformist so it caused a ton of issues in the beginning. I also have been engaged 6 months and the whole budget this is still not nailed down as much as I'd liek it to be...…

As someone who has lost weight and put it back on time after time, I will def say I have had a harder time losing weight after my surgery (2 years ago). I have cut out soda, artificial sweetners, fast food, drink 64+ oz water a day, run every day, you name it, and my weight loss charts look like a stair case. I will lose 2…

The fitbit one actually sits in the center of my bra, between the twins... I dont even notice it. You could always clip it to the strap or the band in back during the day too.

The famous "I'll start again Monday" Also, my mom is having Gastric Bypass Surgery in the near future so she keeps saying stuff like "stuff will be different after mysurgery" and Wait until I have my surgery, there will be no junk in the house" yes she continues to eat worse than ever.

I start week two tomorrow, I would love to join if its okay that Im slightly ahead?
-
hmm I will have to try that! I bought the Biggest Loser and hated it... it required too much space, or more space than I have available. I have another exercise one that I like (shape up or something?) Those are the main ones I play for exercise.
-
I added you! I would love to chat about your success so far!

I have the fitbit one, and I love it. It's nice how it syncs with MFP and its a great tool to compare day to day activity. Just a warning, that like almost any pedometer it will pick up bumps while you are driving as steps, or doing things like riding a mower... other than that, I love it!

Setting short attainable goals, yes my ultimate goal is to lose 100+ pounds, but I have smaller goals that I focus such as losing 5 pounds, getting into the 250's, walks so many miles a week, etc. As far as food goes, plan ahead! I pack lunches for my fiance and myself the night before. We try to plan a menu for dinner for…

I just started yesterday, Im going to friend you so we can track out progress together!

I have both too... the fitbit is good for day to day use, and for tracking sleep (a major concern for me), and the HRM really shows you how much you are burning during a specific workout. Realizing that buy both right this moment is probably out of the question, I would suggest the HRM for workouts first. Pair it with a…

My wedding is August 30, 2014 and I'd like to lose quite a bit of weight between now and then, I have been dress shopping a few times, but refuse to buy anything until Marchish... I am really worried about the changes that may happen to my body between buying the dress and the wedding.

Congrats all around!

Our office league is all guys except my (girl) friend and I who are sharing a team... we are hernandez's defense attorneys... assuming we will probably lose.

One of my favorite quote that I think applies to many aspects of life, but especially to that ONE cookie you want is "Day by Day nothing changes, but before you know it nothing is the same" Think about it!

You would think it would be soda, icecream, or chocolate.... but in reality it is usually breads.
-
I am on week 8 of no soda, and the one time I tried it since I quit was around the week 3 mark, and it was too sweet for me then. Obviously we are all different. Here are my thoughts: "I know having one soda isn't going to set back everything I've been done, but I have an addictive personality & diet coke/diet dr pepper…

I agree with all of these people who say eat what you like, however, here is my tip: Make it a personal goal of yours to try something either new or that you havent tried in a while at least once a week. You'd be surprised how much your tastebuds change. For example, zuccihini is similar to cucumbers, and looks similar…

People who don't wipe down their machines. People who hoard machines. People who drink starbucks while on the treadmill.
