The key is the word "comfort." We have to find other ways to comfort ourselves. One idea is meditative breathing. Another idea is, ball your hands into really tight fists and then spring them open while imagining that you are "letting go". Another idea is to visualize a happy place or time, eg, sunset on the beach. I try…

Equal amts of cottage cheese and PB. Sounds weird, but is actually a nice sandwich spread.

No need to officially re-write the steps, as I believe many nonbeliever folks who use them successfully and gratefully DO call the Food Plan their Higher Power. You might meet some of them at a 12-step meeting.

X1v16, Set up a diary and log what you eat everyday. Every bite. No matter how many calories it is, don't quit logging. That one habit keeps many of us on track for the long haul. I'm not sure why. Maybe because it is a daily reality check. Maybe because it is a daily chance to start over. Maybe because it takes away…

Are you eating enough volume? A key way to cut calories is to greatly increase the amount of foods in your diet that have a lot of water volume--mainly fruits and vegetables, and decrease drier fried and processed foods that don't fill you up.

You not only lost 32 pounds, you lost the 32 pounds that you didn't gain.

Pretty, pretty please Don't you ever, ever feel Like you're less than, less than perfect. Pretty, pretty please If you ever, ever feel Like you're nothing You are perfect to me.

I switched to a "Mediterranean diet". The highlights of this for me are sardines, salmon, egg whites, beans as main protein sources. Avocados, olives, and olive oil as main fats, yogurt and soy milk for dairy, and berries and grapefruit as main fruits. Lots of veggies, especially eggplant, onion, tomato, cauliflower, etc.…

Thank you, OP, for an interesting article. To me, it underlines the importance of all the tracking we do. So we can see what works FOR US individually, and adjust as we go accordingly.

Another reason would be to increase satiety. For folks who find they can't stick to a calorie-reduction plan w low satiety/high carb.

Avocado is a fruit.

I was expecting to not like the change, then I found the new words more poetic. I wonder why this wasn't the English translation earlier, especially since other languages apparently have been closer to the Latin all along.

I hear pain in your words, and I am sorry, and thank you for sharing your thoughts. Ironically, there is much compassion in your words, and I think compassion is what God asks of us most--to love him and to love others more than ourselves. Don't lose that compassion that you have for children and other sufferings, and…

That's what I do too. I also rub some ginger in it occasionally, which tastes better than it maybe sounds.

That reminds me to plan for that feeling, I've got to figure out some low-carb cold-weather foods.

That could be around 8 miles or so a day. I would definitely count that, unless you've already covered it in your Profile's activity level.

Healthy Choice and Kashi brands tend to have the least sodium. Not necessarily low, but less than other brands.

I found this so interesting that I Googled to learn more and found this: It has been reported on various Catholic websites that the term “Our Lady” in Aramaic could be translated as pilot, leader or guide, and that Stella Maris (Star of the Sea) is the oldest of Mary’s many titles. Not sure if that is reliable info. I…

I've never heard that either.

I tried them recently as a substitute for pasta. Not worth it. I'd gotten so used to ww pasta, that these weren't even close. Maybe they are closer to white pasta. Actually, I think they'd only really be a feasible substitute in Asia dishes than Italian ones. Regarding the smell, I followed Hungry Girl's advise and rinsed…

I'd love to be added! There is also a Low Carb Daily Forum here that you might want to join, I find it helpful.

Ahh, ok. Here is a great general resource: http://genaw.com/lowcarb/recipes.html Since most veggies are low carb, I'm guessing the hard part is finding veggie protein sources that don't boost up the carbs? Eggs are at the top of the list (<1 gm carb per egg), if you eat them. But that's not a vegetable. Nuts have fewer…

Actually, I noticed some of your recent posts were spot-on and insightful. Even this one makes me smile over breakfast. So not fooled!

Yup.

Your question is a bit too general to answer, except to answer in general, i.e., eat fresh--fresh meats and fish and eggs and fats and veggies are relatively low carb versus packaged/prepared foods in general.

I forgot to say "congratulations, good work!", but I was thinking it.
