  • Hi! I quit using MFP during pregnancy and then came back when my baby was 3 months old up 33 lbs from where I left off. I am 29 lbs from pre-pregnancy weight, 84 lbs overweight, and right now my goals are to get to pre-pregnancy weight, do a short victory dance, then lose the other 55 lbs to be just inside the "normal"…
  • Don't have a Pinterest. Don't plan on it. What are they? I looked on Google but can't find anything that really adds protein without powder
  • True, but are they as cheap if you are on a broke person budget? If so, make me aware and I will be grateful
  • I find a replacement effective. To me it's the sweetness without the calories of sugar that is addicting (but I also feel hungrier when I drink diet sodas)..I don't care much for the fizz. So.... I make lemonade or limeade with stevia or hot tea with stevia so I have something sweet. It doesn't seem to have the same…
  • I don't think there are any really active ones
  • I saw some graphics for this and I don't know if they were made by the company or made up by an independent distributer but they claimed it cures rheumatoid arthritis. I nearly peed myself from laughing. It's also super expensive and you can easily buy capsules of the active ingredients for the smallest fraction of the…
  • The only thing I will say is that the Ezekiel bread is much more filling. Is it worth the higher caloric (and monetary) price? Eh, it's up to you. I like the Genesis something or another kind with seeds, but decided it's not really worth either price.
  • For putting in tea, coffee, and other beverages, I like SweetLeaf Sweet Drops (brand of liquid stevia which has plain stevia and flavors). Vanilla cream and hazelnut are awesome in coffee. I have a lemon flavor that I like in tea or to make lemonade with lemon juice and water. I get it on amazon but they have it in health…
  • That's what I thought. I just didn't want to set myself up for failure if I was overdoing it
  • I gave it up because I plateaued for a long time and was willing to try a lot of things that I didn't originally consider just in case. I even tried giving up caffeine for some reason. The horror! Then I gave it up again to see if it helped with migraines, but it didn't.
  • Of course it's just one more anecdotal claim, but I've given up diet sodas and artificial sweeteners multiple times for extended periods and it didn't change a thing. I did replace them with honey as suggested by a clean eater and gained weight lol. Also I have complex migraines and aspartame and other sweeteners are not a…
  • This is useful! It seems like you would have to eat a lot of these foods to reach the recommended daily amount... I mean, many are low calorie foods, but still... It puts things in perspective.
  • I had a daughter who I don't want growing up with a negative attitude toward food, exercise, and body image the way I did. I don't want food tied up with emotions for her and I want her to be healthy physically and emotionally. My husband and I are working on making over our habits now so that we model it for her. Also I…
  • Thanks for the invite and starting this group. I don't have any experience to bring to the table but can offer support to the best of my ability. I am 26 and married, expecting our first child due December 10th (which means I'm 12 weeks today).
  • I can see how that can be frustrating! I think the opposite reaction is equally frustrating, IE people saying "careful, you're not really eating for two ya know..." It might be the hormones talking, but I don't think it's anyone's business but mine and my medical care providers'. I'm pretty impressed that you're staying on…
  • Add me if you would like. I am 10 weeks now and I lost about 20 lbs before finding out I was expecting and then gained some back almost immediately because I was constantly craving carbs and sugar, was too nauseated to eat anything else, too tired to exercise, and didn't keep myself in check :-S So I was 205 @ 5'5" last…
  • Hi! I am 10 weeks today (due Dec 10th). Feel free to add me if you would like (any of you). Right now I am just using MFP to track exercise, but may start tracking food soon too... probably once m/s and weird food aversions go away. I find tracking exercise makes me feel more motivated to have a fit pregnancy.
  • I am not sure how to answer that so forgive me since this is just a long string of food I ate often. I ate a lot of fruit, greek yogurt, whey or plant protein shakes when lifting weights or just not eating much protein-- always factored into daily calorie allowance, nuts (especially almonds), avocados, salads that had…
  • I totally agree. I made an appointment with a new rheumatologist to replace my follow-up with this guy because I'm very unhappy with him. Even if he IS right about the things he says that I'm not so sure about, he doesn't adequately explain anything and his nurses make me think nursing school must be pretty easy because…
  • As someone who has problems with water retention and swelling that causes discomfort I take a hot bath and add a cup of epsom salt OR 12 oz apple cider vinegar. It does seem to make the water retention/swelling go down but makes you very tired so if you're just worried about losing weight, it's totally not worth it, but if…
  • Thanks for the suggestion. It's so hard for me to go spend that much on a sports bra. I must confess I buy cheap ones and have to run in 2 bras. I don't think I'm the only one, but... I don't want to go spend $50-$70 on a sports bra and still have to run in 2 bras. How do I avoid that? Are the good brands just that magical…
  • Hugs for you! I feel your pain. I am only 25, obese, and have similar issues. I wish I could eat what other ladies my age (and even older) eat & lose 2 or more lbs a week like they do, but I'm lucky to lose 1 lb a week on 1200-1400 calories w/ exercise 3x a week. If I eat 1700-1800 I maintain. I've tried it long-term and…
  • I gave up coffee for a while, and really I don't think it was very helpful. I think it's important not to overdo the caffeine but I never saw the benefit in completely giving it up. It's up to you, though... a personal choice. I stick to 1 a day in the morning to get going, especially when schedule changes happen... I just…
  • At first, maybe... if you are used to a lot of processed foods full of sodium, you'll drop some water weight. If you're used to not watching what you eat at all and you normally eat a lot of junk, you might lose due to the lifestyle change of healthy eating. If you already eat pretty healthy it may not make much of a…
  • It's inspiring that a 28 lb loss has done so much for your health!
  • Plexus is a great way to lose weight... in your wallet. I haven't used it, but I know a couple of people it didn't help, and none that it has (except the ones $elling it). Also, I looked at the ingredients on the packaging. I think you could buy supplements for all the main ingredients for much cheaper. Well I suppose…
  • Thanks. I just don't have time to brew coffee so that's good to know.
  • Thank you. That is helpful.
  • I guess I never even thought about it until I saw commentary about the Texas Giant incident that made me feel a little anxious. The Six Flags website does not post any specifics on maximum weight or size, only minimum heights. I suppose I could call them if I were terribly concerned. An internet search turned up a website…
