  • 6 meals daily breakfast-6:30 snack-9:30 Lunch-1 snack pre workout-4 dinner/post workout-7 before bed-10
  • Ab roller, rope crunches, hanging leg raises, all sorts of planks-don't get into a "routine" with abs. Use weight, different angles and your body to mix it up and you will see better results.
  • Both honestly. I feel much more focused when taking assault and I'm able to pump out more reps with higher weight. Normally my lifting sessions are 60-90 minutes of high intensity, low rest.
  • Musclepharm-assault. I've tried jacked, N.O. explode, C4, 1MR, pretty much every pre workout there is and musclepharm works best for me. Also has more active ingredients than most other pre workouts.
  • Once again, where are you getting a 2500+ burn from? If it's from the MFP database, it's inaccurate. MFP significantly overestimates calories burned. Unless you were wearing a heart rate monitor with a chest strap during your swims, you will not get an accurate amount of calories burned. [/quote] I didn't need a computer…
  • I'm assuming you're 17 based on your username. As you get older your muscles will become better defined as well and easier to grow/shape. My body has changed drastically from 18-24.
  • Sorry to burst your bubble...but you're wrong. Swimming is one of the most high burning calorie exercises you can do. When training in college i would burn 2500+ in a 2 hour workout-that is balls to the wall intensity. If she is overweight and has to move a lot through the water then it takes more energy because there is…
  • Ground turkey, black and white pepper, garlic and fresh rosemary with 1 egg yolk/pound of meat. VERY small amount of bread crumbs if needed to help stick together. serve topped w/ fresh basil, crumbled goat cheese, diced tomato and avocado. Great appetizer for parties. Light fry in coconut oil to brown outside then bake in…
  • Pretty happy with myself...don't really want to look like anyone else. But if I had to pick I'd say Chris Hemsworth in Thor is my ultimate goal.
  • I disagree entirely with both prior posts. If you work out in a fasted state with no calories a couple hours before working out how is that the same as having eaten a 200 calorie meal before? Does your body not use the most readily energy source available? If this were true and I wholly believe it is, then on an empty…
  • 24..I sit behind a desk 8-9 hours a day now too :( sucks after being active all through college.
  • I would not recommend skipping breakfast this will stall your metabolism. Even an egg or a slice of toast would be better than nothing.
  • When you bulk you're going to gain some fat no matter what. A few bits of advise to limit it: 1. Eat a larger portion of your calories around when you work out/before bed/when you wake up and fast slightly during the day. This will ensure your body has adequate nutrition to repair itself and boost metabolism. 2. Learn your…
  • If you are burning 800 calories an hour at the gym your heart rate would need to be at a constant 150-160. I'm 24 5'10" 175 lbs @12% BF, work out 90 minutes a day (30 cardio 60 lifting) and I still don't burn 4000 calories a day. My assumption would be your HR monitor is grossly over estimating unless your metabolism is…
  • As an ex-collegiate swimmer I find that sustained cardio works best for me now-my events while in school were 100, 200 and 500 free so I was mid distance. HIIT works too but I can go for hours on a bike at 130-150 HR.
  • Eating a simple carb beforehand would give you a quick boost of energy; if you're looking for something more sustained try a boiled egg and half an avocado (roughly 200 calories). I'm a firm believer in being able to program your body to burn certain nutrients for fuel depending on your diet, and avocado itself stimulates…
  • WTF is wrong with you
  • The dizziness could be caused by low blood sugar, especially if you are burning a large amount of calories. If you are training intensely for 1.5-2 hours there is a good chance you're depleting the glycogen in your muscles. Try sipping on a gatorade or something similiar for a little extra sugar/carbs during.

  • Put simply, no. Sugar is sugar whether it be glucose or fructose your body is going to treat it as a simple carb and break it down quickly for energy which will raise your blood sugar levels. Some low sugar/carb fruits: raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, kiwi. Avoid pineapple and sweeter apples like the…
  • Swimming is the most effective cardio workout in my opinion. Having been a swimmer for 20 years, it's my go to when I need to lose weight. As previously stated it's also great for your joints...you won't be impacting your knees like running/cycling. You will see your weight drop quickly if you put the time in the pool. One…
  • I swam at FSU from 08-11 when I graduated...just got back in the pool once the whether warmed up to help lose some extra lbs!
  • First off, losing 2+ pounds a week is not necessarily healthy unless you are quite overweight (meaning that will not be all fat loss you will lose a considerable amount of muscle in the long run). On the fats topic...I would speak with a professional about what are consdiered healthy levels for your age, gender, etc. These…
  • Dymatize elite or gourmet is another good option. They also have an elite 7 which combines different types of protein (whey isolate, conecentrate, casein, etc.) roughly $40 on sbmuscle.com
  • Ten years...started at 14 and been hitting the gym ever since.
  • When done properly swimming is a full body cardio workout-most cardio emphaizes your legs. The reason why you are so hungry after swimming is you burn more calories. In addition, your body being submerged in cold water forces your body to use more calories to maintain a warmer body temperature, thus increasing…
  • Swimming is a full body cardio work out when done properly and will burn more calories an hour than any other cardio. I will argue this to anyone who believes they are in great shape. Hop in a pool and see how many 25 yard lengths you can swim-or even better try an olympic size 50m pool. 99% of people won't make it to the…
  • Well...technically hemp is the male plant seed and even when grown will not flower as a female would to produce buds. However, nutrition wise Hemp seeds are very good for you, high in Omega 3s and vitamins. I do recommend the female plant counterpart as a recovery supplement in your routine, though. Dialates blood vessels…

  • As a swimmer you should be used to those early hours! I wake up at 4:30 to work out from 5-6:30, shower walk the dog and eat all before leaving at 7:15. The first couple weeks will be hell but once you adjust you'll enjoy the routine more than working out after work when you have no energy at all.
  • The main difference between almond butter and peant butter is that a peanut is not actually a nut, its a legume (like beans).
  • I'm 5'10" and 175 lbs @ roughly 12% BF...from that pic looks like you're closer to 9%. I tried to body recomp at first and saw very little gains. If you're wanting to gain muscle you NEED to eat at a surplus. It is highly unlikely that you would put on 10-15 lbs of muscle without gaining some fat. Someone mentioned waiting…
