As far as I understand the main Paleo ethos (I eat strict Keto), it is not about eating like a caveman, it is about avoiding over processed foods and eating as naturally as possible. Cooking meals yourself from raw ingredients and such. There should be no talk of the wrong end of the Bull with Paleo. Every end of the Bull…

I make "bread" from flax meal. Works a charm :)
-
The cafe coffee with MCT does seem more filling than my morning BPC with Coconut Oil but maybe that's because I have it with a light lunch too.

My Macro is 5,25,75 (c,p,f) and it works just great! My calorie deficit is only 12% so I am not starving at all especially with all that tasty, filling fat! :)

I don't have the zombie breath thank God, but I do have the distilled dinosaur sweat pee smell. I had to get some smelly things for the toilet because it gets a bit wiffy in there after I pee which is quite often when I'm hydrating properly!

There is a Paleo/Primal cafe near my office so I often end up having 2 BPC a day. One at home (with butter and coconut oil) and one for lunch (with butter and MCT oil) :)

Have you tried Bulletproof Coffee? That's my got to get out of the house breakfast of choice. It works especially well with a tablespoon of flax meal added to it! Your protein is a bit low. What does the keto calculator say? You are probably under the suggested range.

3 Weeks is no a stall :) I've stalled twice and both were about 3 months each. Don't fret about it is all you can do. I've found this article of help to get my mind around that horrible feeling while in a stall http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss/of-whooshes-and-squishy-fat.html Do you have that lumpy fat? I know I…
-
Stalls happen. In my case it was about 3 months and I tried fat fasts, IF, IF+Fat Fast, everything except a carb cheat. Well, this week I am almost 3kg lighter than my stall range high point and I'm recording new weight lows! You just need to KCKO. Look at the long term trend, and if it is down, you are doing it right!

You need more than just a calorie deficit, otherwise I would weigh about 10 grams by now. WHAT you eat is more important. I actually found that I stalled when cutting calories too much, then lost again when I upped my calories to a smaller deficit. Cut out carbs, especially over processed crap, watch your protein and don't…

I had a view like this on the weekend NSW Illawarra region.

I'd make him a bulletproof coffee and some bacon and eggs.

Sorry. A calorie is not a calorie otherwise the days when I go bushwalking would result in massive losses. Yeh, a calorie is a calorie but it depends on how your body uses that calorie based on the source. A calorie from carbs may not be used for energy but could most likely be deposited into a fat cell as an excess thus…
-
Indeed. This kind of thing is disastrous. To make people think that they can eat all that sugar and lose weight. I think I prefer eating my full fat meals, never feeling hungry and going out on Bushwalks because I enjoy nature, not eating low fat, being hungry and spending half the week in the gym trying to burn all the…

So, can you explain why the world has become fatter with more diabetes, heart disease etc... despite nearly 40 years of recommending cutting calories, eating low fat and exercising more? Ever heard the phrase, "A calorie is not a calorie"? What you eat has more of an effect than how much you eat.

Added. Let's journey to good health together!

You might want to ask the question over on http://www.reddit.com/r/keto A few Hashimotos people post over there and they might be able to help.

Carbs are broken down basically into glucose which *can* be used as a fuel for the body. When you eat carbs, your body breaks them down into glucose and then your pancreas releases Insulin to help you process the glucose (converted to fat) to use as fuel. Excess glucose gets deposited as fat and saved for later. As you…

In short. No. Why would anyone subject themselves to such a bland, low fat diet anyway? It seems like some kind of unnatural torture.
-
One rule. Do not be afraid of fat! Fat doesn't make you fat the same way that eating broccoli doesn't make you green. Too much sugar/carbs make you fat because excess carbs inhibit your body's ability to burn fat for fuel. The carbs are used instead and the fat just gets stored. If you want to lose weight, eat less carbs…

If all it took was to eat less calories, we would all just eat less of whatever we liked and be lean machines and it just doesn't work like that. Calorie restriction never worked for me. In fact after an initial loss I ended up gaining while feeling miserable and hungry all the time. That is not a diet. It is torture!

Sort of what I was trying to say but better ;) You could say.... Protein is a target. (try not to exceed it but get as close as possible) Carbohydrate is a limit. Fat fills the gap.
-
While I don't go the paleo way because I love my cheese and cream too much, it is still a valid low carb way of eating and is really more of a way to promote eating unprocessed, whole foods rather than a kind of diet with restrictions. I find keto to be enjoyable. I like my meat and cheeses. I also like baking using…

My point being I didn't. Yet anyway. I'm only now considering going in for some resistance/weight training to boost metabolism and tighten up the flabby bits ;)
-
It sure has. No more grunting to get off the couch and chase my toddler around the house. I can bound up stairs without my knees feeling like they are going to give way at any moment. I can get out into the bush and hike up a mountain without collapsing in a heap. I love being lighter!
-
I'm not sure so much protein is going to help since excess protein is metabolised into glucose thus inhibiting ketosis. Try Fat 60%, Protein 30%, Carb 5% to start with.
-
18 months Keto. No exercise apart from some walking.

From what I can gather, this Doctor's diet is just a rehash of the old fashioned low fat dogma that doesn't work with some sugar taken out to appear healthy. It would be a waste of money. You might as well eat Doctor Who's fish fingers and custard. You would still end up fat and diabetic but it would be more enjoyable ;)…

You need higher fat and lower carb than that. My fat/pro/carb ratio is 70/25/5. As per the keto calculator @camtosh linked to, you will be able to tailor the macro to your needs. Try and keep carbs to 25g or less at least to start with to get you into Ketosis. Careful of protein too. Too much and you will sabotage your…
